Did he end up landing somewhere or should I just assume to hear his named called during the NFL draft? ;)

Last i heard, unless getting him confused, he was still enrolled at unless. He might have changed at semester though. I could be wrong. Hopefully not getting him and tyjon confused but I thought he went to osu beaver

He’s one of the names in the transfer portal.

https://www.google.com/amp/www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/25760399/college-football-players-entered-ncaa-transfer-portal?platform=amp

Other ex Huskers in the portal...

Justin McGriff
Branden Hohenstein
Guy Thomas
of the 4 star recruits from that class only one is left - I realize there was a coaching change but its not like we did not hire a name coach. The defections from this class say more about Riley and how he recruited than anything else

Last I heard he was down to a couple FCS programs, but never heard of he had made a decision or not.
You have to be kidding me! He was backing up a soon-to-be NFL back. He would have likely been our co-starter next season on what should be an explosive offense.

He decided that he’d rather take his talents to an FCS program! This seems like a bad joke.

By my count, Riley's 2017 class had seven 4* with Mcquitty being the only one still around. But I think you're right. I don't like to speculate but I think it's pretty obvious by now that Riley (or whomever) was making some promises during the recruiting process that couldn't be kept. Guys like Lindsey, Robert's and Stevenson had absolutely no business being on the field as true freshman.

I remember when Bell was burning up the weight room on Twitter at the same time that a poster here spotted Ozigbo at a bar!

From this it was determined that Ozigbo's days as an RB were done and Bell would be The Man. Gotta love the power of Twitter.

lol, I remember that...

Ziggy is ripped so he wasn’t missing the weight room..

I would agree 100%, the sooner we can clean house with anything having to do with Smilin Mike the better off this program will be.

Pretty dumb to want players to leave (clean house) just because of a previous head coach. Unless those players were toxic in the locker room or weren't trying & just milking their scholarship. Which I don't believe either are the case with the players who have transferred.

Ozigbo was a Riley recruit....he was one of our best players this past year. Wilson, Jaimes, Raridon, Davis twins, etc...you want all those guys gone too? Spielman? You want him gone too? Yeah I guess you're right we better just flush anybody or anything that had anything to do with Riley.

True, I guess I worded that poorly. Clean house of anything toxic left by Smilin Mike.

Devine STILL loves the bars. Dude shut places down prior to last season. He's always had the talent. Just took Frost and Held to show him the way

I think this is my cue to chime in and defend my accusations...simply put I remember reading something along the lines of Ozigbo being in the dog house and/or disciplinary issues...I liked Ozigbo at the time but feared he was plagued by the Mike Riley party crew and lost his motivation while newcomers were putting in the work. Pretty sure you guys took my comment far more serious than intended...tends to happen round here! And let's be honest with ourselves here, I don't recall anyone predicting Ozigbo to turn the corner like he did for his senior year, the talk was he would be a reliable short yardage 2nd stringer.

Greg Bell is really only being pursued by desperate and marginal FBS or FCS level programs at this time. He walked out on the wrong coach. He allegedly already had a reputation as a diva with no self awareness in JUCO that a lot of programs backed off. Nebraska still took a flyer on him. He was a bit of a cancer from day one, but really showed his lack of character when he quit at the first sign of adversity. Other Power 5 programs aren't going to make that mistake. They've shunned him.

The other issue in play is Bell was talking to Oregon State prior to bring released by Nebraska. I realize the media made Frost out to be some curmudgeon in the situation, but Tyjion Lindsey and Greg Bell were both in contact with Oregon State officials while under scholarship with the Huskers. Nebraska didn't know before Lindsey was released. They did get wind prior to giving Bell permission to leave though. Frost sent the Beavers a giant FU.

Look for Bell to end up at a program like UTEP, New Mexico State, Montana State, or Eastern Washington.

I thought Pelini started the recruitment of Devine?

No that was Dedrick Young but Riley had been trying to recruit Young to OSU as well. There were some other guys obviously who committed to Pelini's staff prior to their dismissal. Devine was all Riley. I don't think Devine even had an NU offer prior to us hiring Riley.

IIRC that's correct. D.O. was a low 3*, late offer after Riley was hired and they flipped him from Iowa State.

Bell stated on an interview on San Diego TV when he committed that he was going to Nebraska for one year and then was going to turn pro. Was a very telling sign to me

Curious as to how long it will take until the league folds up.

It is a smart model with how they are encouraging players to play on teams within a certain distance from where they played in college, that could help boost fan bases early, but product will decide if it is sustainable

Yes and I had to tell you and others numerous times that those rumors were false and baseless. People wouldnt believe me because they were so in love with riley they couldnt admit that he had our best back in the doghouse for no reason and played favorites.
I also said many times that ozigbo was underrated and better than backs who were playing, especially wilbon. And he WAS. He was then, too, not just this past year. Again, riley lovers covered for their nice guy and some were bashing zig routinely. (not saying it was you specifically). Some have come here and ate crow which is respectable.
So youre wrong, I said zig was our best back numerous times before he was given the chance he always deserved.

Don't you know that the most important thing a RUNNING back needs to be able to do is pass block.....
