....for the most part, our helmet design has remained pretty stable through the years...HOWEVER(without looking) our helmets had a different look for one year only...what was the difference?

I think your getting at the color of the shell of the helmet..It had a cream type color to it.

I know it wasn’t the NU on the helmet that was used till they ran out of “U”

nope....something totally different besides the N and the U....

I have no idea what your talking about them looking or not looking...

1982 Nebraska went to a Red Face mask.
1970 Nebraska went to just a N on the sides.
1966 Nebraska wore NU on the sides and a red strip.
1961 Nebraska went from Red helmets to White helmets..

That about covers it..

Guess I was a year off with the NU in 1967.

But in 1961 Jennings last year at Nebraska, Nebraska went from the red helmet to the white helmet.. This photo is wrong there is pictures of the 1961 team wearing white helmets with black numbers..
