Does anyone from the North really expect to compete with this anymore? It's a southern machine & there's no signs of slowing it down.

Ignorant post, considering OSU NC in the last 5 years...

Bama and Clemson are lighting it up for sure, but it will always be cyclical. Right now it’s tiled down south for the most part, when Carroll was at USC and Oregon was in their prime it was out west... it won’t be in the south forever.

OSU in '15 is the outlier. Who are the winners the past 10 years besides that outlier? This is one big cycle & the only thing to disrupt it right now is turmoil. The South has followed Saban's blueprint & teams like Clemson & Georgia have followed suit. I say Georgia because they have given Bama the biggest run for their money in the SEC.

Agree, OSU is the outlier, and the likeliest candidate from the north to disrupt things at the present time. But I still say this run will come to an end. You may be right, Georgia May be the next king of the hill, but it could easily be a Michigan or Penn state with their recruiting, if they can improve the coaching.

But the BIG ten is so tough.

It is in their world. Just like Big 12 is in their own corner. The other 4 power conferences battle it out pretty good when those lights are on. The SEC is a farm system for the NFL pretty much. Clemson has dominated the ACC so kudos to them for cracking the SEC code. CFB is the life blood of the South. There is no other option for a quality life if your CFB team isn't winning.

They could even the field a bit by going to a points system where teams having played 9 conference games get more playoff credit and teams get points taken away for non-P5/FCS games and even more points taken away if those games are in November. Alabama played LA Lafayette, AK St in September, then the Citidel in November. Clemson played Furman and GA Southern in September. Florida played Idaho in November. Georgia played Austin Peay and Middle Tenn in Sept and UMass in November.

Where Notre Dame is located is really irrelevant considering they recruit nationally and play essentially a half ACC schedule.

Maybe Clemson and Georgia. Other than that, nobody is close to following Saban's blueprint. Alabama has been pushing most of the rest of the SEC aside like fleas this season. If Kentucky pounds Penn State or something like that, I'll be impressed.

They did look bad.

When you don't play anybody, it is hard to analyze yourself and adjust for weaknesses you don't know exist. Nebraska struggled in the 80's on the national scene because teams pretty much laid down once they got hit in the mouth. Other teams (KSU, CU, MU, etc.) upped their game in the 90's and that helped Nebraska immensely. Competition breeds champions.

UGA, UF and T A&M are the three schools in the South that can threaten Bama. LSU & Auburn occassionally will threaten but not annually. They have the talent pools to recruit from & they now have the coaches that can get them there. Clemson is great but they are no better than UGA at this point. They've benefitted greatly from being in the ACC the last couple of years which has been down. If Clemson were in the SEC the last two years they wouldn't have been in the CFP playoff. OSU is that team in the B1G but I'm far from convinced Ryan Day can recruit the South like Urban did. I see Penn St is in a better position than UMich to be top dog in the B1G until Frost has more time. I think Harbaughs expiration date is about to hit in Ann Arbor esp with how they got demolished the last 2 games & now that Urban is gone.

A typical team north of the Mason/Dixon line. Big, slow and lethargic.
It does to seem to be a trend. There has been 1 team (ohio St) to win a NC, in the last 14 years that has not been from the south. Not sure how it will stop? Maybe eventually have to go 2 leagues. North and a South, with 2 separate championships.

Notre Dame is a very good football team. They lost their best corner and couldn't stop anything, by the time he was back the game was over. Clemson lost a first round draft pick on the dline before the game started and still dominated the game. Top end talent and depth of talent there is Clemson and bama and everyone else. Georgia is close. No one else is in their zip code. Doesn't mean another team cant win the title but with the playoff and now having to beat two teams of that caliber within a 9 day span, it's not very likely.
