Since this topic has been pondered countless times before I say we beat the drum again.

Most on here have spoken down the rivalry with Iowa. According to those people Iowa isn't in the weight class historically. They clamor for the old days of battling Oklahoma in the Big 8 and lament their dislike of playing in the B1G West due to a lack of premiere annual matchups.

Would you prefer it if Nebraska was in a more equally weighted division like the Leaders and Legends setup? An annual matchup with one or two of the more prominent members like Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State? Would that be more palatable then the lackluster western lineup until (if) Oklahoma or other Big 12 teams come into the fold? Would that be big time enough?

At the risk of feeding the latest troll, I would point out that Nebraska hasn't exactly lacked games against Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. Early on the Huskers played all three of these teams, and most years have played two. I can only find one season in which NU didn't play them at all.

I like how it’s set up right now. I like that Nebraska plays Iowa and Wisconsin every year. I like the style of football and I respect the football programs of Iowa and Wisconsin.

It’s the Iowa fan base (mostly message board fans, in person they seem to know their place) that is unbearable. The Wisconsin fan base is pretty decent overall, probably due to owning Nebraska since 2011.

I'm sure Nebraska fans long for the old days because they were very good, but those days are gone. We were suppose to be one of the heavies, but in the tiered ranking used(legends and leaders and current cross over criteria), Iowa and Wisconsin were identical. It's the Alvarez effect and recency that has planted Wisky in most of the fan base's mind.

Iowa and wisky were both rated above MSU, and all others.

I'd like to see you guys back up, too, although that will make things tougher for us at NU (Northwestern). Until Nebraska is back to some semblance of its former self, it's going to be hard to get competitive balance in the divisions if they leave them on a geographical basis. I actually think the West Division has better balance at present and that should get even better next season, but we lack the national brand that the top three in the East have (and that Nebraska had in its glory days). I don't think exchanging Michigan State for someone in the West solves anything as to me they're basically another Wisconsin, Iowa or Purdue right now. Michigan won't want to come over unless their OSU game is guaranteed, and it makes no sense to put Penn State in the West. Nebraska is one of the best shots at redressing the balance quickly, and Frost might give you a shot. Looks like he is off to a good start in this year's recruiting.
