My only gripe is being ranked behind Maryland, which has beaten absolutely nobody and hasn't played a game outside its own area code.
NCAA's NET basketball rankings:
- Michigan #3
- Wisconsin #6
- Michigan State #8
- Nebraska #9
- Ohio State #20
- Indiana #24
- Iowa #25
- Maryland #27
- Purdue #31
- Penn State #67
- Northwestern #69
- Rutgers #78
- Minnesota #80
- Illinois #102
Terps getting a lot of pollster love, considering their one and only out-of-conference road game is at Navy.NU RPI 36
Maryland RPI 41
And we go to Maryland on Jan. 2, the second of three consecutive conference road games for Nebraska (Minnesota on Wednesday, Maryland, and at Iowa on Jan. 6). We can win or lose any of those three. Tough stretch.Terps getting a lot of pollster love, considering their one and only out-of-conference road game is at Navy.
They only leave the state of Maryland once before the calendar turns, and that's to travel to Purdue.
Nice, Just think we would have been in the top 10 if we would have beaten T-Tech..

Oh I agree with you about that. But it's always funny how the TV talking heads' mantra of "Who did you play, and who did you beat?" doesn't seem to apply to blue bloods. For the Huskers to have Maryland's schedule, they would have had to skip the tournament in Kansas City, declined to go to Clemson and played their only road game at Doane.Just win baby, the rankings will take care of themselves.
Currently in both AP 24 and Coaches 25
Considering the football team hasn't played in a bowl game since Dec. 2016, I'm just damn glad to have a fun team to hold my attention this winter! It's awesome to have weeknight entertainment that doesn't involve shoveling snow.

No, but Doc's teams consistently led the nation in time of possession.Does anybody remember if Doc Sadler or Barry Collier EVER have a team that was ranked? I don't think they did.
I'm admittedly a glass half empty AND moldy kind of guy but NO WAY we go 12-1...feel free to remind me if we do and I'll GLADLY eat crow....Let’s hope NU holds onto this ranking a little longer than the 2014 one (which lasted 1 week, I believe).
I’d love to see NU go on a little run and be sitting at 12-1 going into that game at Maryland right after New Years. It’s doable, but certainly won’t be easy. NU is riding a nice little wave now, let’s keep it going.
Fairly easy to do when you let the clock shot expire virtually every time down the floor. When the buzzer sounds as a prayer is thrown up, you probably didn't get a very good shot. Man watching Doc's, Collier's and Cipriano's offenses were like watching paint dry and Cip had some pretty good players at times. No, but Doc's teams consistently led the nation in time of possession.
Real Time RPI has us starting the season 20-2... That is nuts!

MOE IBA COULD GIVE HIM A WALK FOR HIS MONEY....I think Collier's team in 2006 received some votes, but never sniffed the top 25.
Sadler's teams never even earned votes. Sadler was and always will be the worst recruiter to ever coach Nebraska basketball.
I conveniently still refuse to admit that Moe ever coached at NU. I honestly didn't watch all that many games that he coached....on purpose. I think the only game I watched him coach was in person in Columbia when NU led by Jack Moore defeated the undefeated and #1 ranked Missouri Tigers led by Jon Sundvold, Steve Stipanovich and Ricky Frazier. Side fact, I played pick up ball with Ricky at the rec center at Mizzou when I was working on a post graduate degree there. Man that guy could jump.MOE IBA COULD GIVE HIM A WALK FOR HIS MONEY....
What happened in Lincoln last season?120 years of hoops suckage will do that. Just sayin...
Go Blue!
@vic.valiantWhat happened in Lincoln last season?
Nebraska beat Michigan in basketball? What happened in Lincoln last season?
You're the only one ignoring 120 years of Nebraska basketball history and focusing on only the suckage spawned by Barry Collier and Doc Sadler. Run along, and see if Michigan can ever reach the historical excellence of Ohio State, Michigan State, Maryland, Indiana and Illinois. Another national title would be nice. This year. Go Blue.Nebraska beat Michigan in basketball?
So...your point is it that 120 years of Nebraska basketball history should be ignored this year because last year Nebraska beat Michigan earning Nebraska superior ranking to historically far more accomplished Maryland?
Am I tracking you correctly here?
Go Blue!
Sorry for dragging you kicking and screaming into this conversation with a comment about whether Maryland should be ranked ahead of Nebraska this season.Nebraska beat Michigan in basketball?

Other than the unlimited $$$ and scholarships schools of KU and Mizzou, most of the Big 8 was horrid in basketball...so finishing with a .500 record or better wasn't that big of a feat. Different era.@vic.valiant
See below for TL;DR version of this post.
First off, we're not Michigan hoops, that's for sure. You have a grand tradition, and a legitimate shot at a national title this year. Don't blow it. The Big Ten needs you.
Of course, we're best known today as the only power conference team not to win an NCAA Tournament game. And yes, that sucks. But it doesn't tell the full story of Nebrasketball, which, while not a glory-filled walk through the history of college hoops, is not devoid of achievement. We haven't been great often, but we haven't always been bad, either.
First, Nebraska hasn't "sucked" in basketball for 120 years. Our all-time winning percentage is .525 (1,481-1,338). Michigan sits at .589, which is almost as good as Michigan State's .610 or Illinois' .645, or Indiana's .637, or Maryland's .601, or Ohio State's .614, but those Big Ten programs are true basketball Blue Bloods. Maybe the Blue will make it there one day.
Nebraska's all-time win percentage is better than both Northwestern and Rutgers in the Big Ten, and we have a better all-time record than former conference mates Colorado and Iowa State.
Joe Cipriano's and Moe Iba's Nebraska teams both accumulated better than .500 records in the Big 8 over their tenures. Cipriano's teams won 53 percent of their conference games. Iba's teams won 54 percent of their conference games.
Cipriano had several teams in the '60s and '70s that would easily have been high seeds in the NCAA Tournament had the tournament included conference runners-up. The 1966 team finished 12-2 in the Big Eight behind Kansas, the team that lost the Regional Final to Texas Western that year. Moe Iba was a Texas Western assistant on that national title team.
We rarely finished in the bottom half of the conference, and Moe's final team (1985-86) actually played in the NCAA Tournament, losing in the first round, of course, as a No. 9 seed to Western Kentucky. Moe left because he was violating NCAA rules, as reported by student journalists at the Daily Nebraskan.
Nebraska didn't slide into the lower half of its conference until Danny Nee took over, and by Nee's fifth year, he had built a Big 8 power. His 1991 team earned a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, only to lose to Xavier. His 1994 won the Big 8 Tournament championship. His teams qualified for the Dance the next three years, and then he won the NIT in 1996. His last NCAA team was 1998, led by Tyronn Lue. Nee's five NCAA teams had seeds of 3, 6, 8, 9 and 11.
Nebraska's "suckage" started during Nee's final year (1999-2000), when the Huskers slid to 8th in the Big XII. Nee was fired, and a couple of mediocre coaches (Barry Collier and Kenneth "Doc" Sadler) tried to revive Nebraska's program. They couldn't, in 13 seasons combined, lead Nebraska to a winning conference record, though the Huskers did make five NIT appearances over that period of "suckage."
So Tim Miles had a lot to overcome when he got to Lincoln, including the rise of Creighton, the lack of a true metro recruiting area (not Detroit, not Chicago, not even Minneapolis or Saint Louis), and the ignorance displayed in your flippant post. To his credit, he's led two of his first six teams to better than .500 conference records — again, the first time that has happened at Nebraska since Danny Nee's 1999 team went 10-6 in the Big XII — and he appears to be on the verge of doing it a third time in this, his seventh season.
TL;DR version: **** off.
120 years of hoops suckage will do that. Just sayin...

Shouldn't you be on your own board celebrating the early Christmas present Michigan and Harbaugh got with Urban retiring Harbaugh maybe we'll maybe get shot at beating OSU120 years of hoops suckage will do that. Just sayin...
