1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Notre Dame
4. Oklahoma
5. Ohio State
6. Georgia
7. Washington
8. UCF

In two weeks the top 4 play home games.

Alabama-UCF, Clemson-Washington, Notre Dame-Georgia, Oklahoma-Ohio State. Those would be some great games to watch.

That would be some good match-ups

For the love of God, why haven't we gone to an 8 team playoff already? It feels like it's taking forever.....

Michigan over Washington.

Can't Michigan didn't win their conference..What is so hard to figure out Michigan didn't win their division and didn't in the conference..

In you have 8 teams all power 5 champions qualify for the playoff..

So the at-large bids would be: ND, UCF and Georgia. I could see a valid case for Michigan over UCF for the last spot, but would be all for letting UCF in, to travel to Tuscaloosa.

Disagree that the 5 power conference champs should automatically get in. That sets up the possibility that teams with average records could qualify. Take a look at history of some championship games. A 7-5 Texas team that upset Nebraska wouldve gotten in. Same with a 8 win Wisconsin team years ago. Or a 4 loss Florida State team in '05. NONE of those teams deserved a chance to win a national title.

If you go to an 8 team playoff, they better be the 8 best and most deserving teams. Otherwise go back to the top 2 and call it good.

Who determines "best and most deserving"? Why not just provide everyone with an objective path, and throw a couple at large spots out there for teams from really strong conferences?

I think conf champs and 3 at large is the way to go. If a 7-5 or 8-4 teams makes it so be it makes for the Cinderella story that everyone craves in March Madness

I think the biggest reason is the powers that be don't want student athletes from two teams playing an extra game. I however definitely want eight teams and believe that it can be done.
