if I’m on the CFP committee, after watching all the games today, I’m putting UGA in over OU and OSU. What really sucks is that, if that is the case, then Bama and Georgia play back to back games against each other and 3 games in the past 12 months. Which makes me think OU gets the nod over Georgia, but the OU defense is a shell of what UGA showed against Bama today.

Give me a break. No way you can put UGA over OU. Oklahoma beat the #14 team, while UGA lost to Bama, but hey they covered the spread. Not to mention OU won the Big 12, only lost once and their loss was better than UGA’s. Why are we giving UGA so much credit for not getting blown out today?

Georgia still lost that was a playoff game and why should Gump have to play them again..

Doesn’t winning a conference title mean anything..

I really can't see the Buckeyes leapfrogging Oklahoma based on today's games, but then they are tEntitled State University.

I would think Oklahoma gets the nod over Georgia, though.

Do you really think OU, with their defense, can keep up with Bama? I’m not trying to give Georgia credit, just trying to look at it objectively as to which teams would provide the best match ups, and therefore the best options for the playoff. Offensively, OU and UGA are pretty similar. Defensively, UGA is better than OU, and it’s really not close. I think UGA and OU on a neutral field, UGA wins. So I give them the nod over OU. I don’t like it. Frankly, I want a Big Ten team in, but that’s not possible. So I’m being objective as possible.

How about UGA lost to LSU by 20. OU would roll LSU. And yes Georgia has a better D, but their offense is nowhere close to OU’s. The season matters and UGA’s resume does not stack up to OU, even if they played Bama close today.

In the past 12 months Georgia has lost to Bama twice by a total o 20 points, one of which required overtime. If I’ a Vegas odds maker the line between Bama and Georgia is smaller than the line between Bama and OU. Should OU get a shot? Sure. Are they the better team? No. IMO Georgia is better.

don't care about spreads from Vegas. the playoff is about earning your way in, if not why play the games?

And this is exactly why the playoff needs to expand to 8. At the end of the day Bama, Clemson, ND, Georgia, OU, and OSU deserves shot. IMO the play off should include all 5 P5 conference champions and 3 at large bids. This year the playoff would be Bama, Clemson, ND, OU, Washington, Georgia, UCF and one other at large. Pretty good mix and IMO this would eliminate a lot of the questions around who should be in.

The human element screwing things up here...

Why in the hell are we playing the game if the penalty for losing is so easily removed by a committee?

Georgia is a damn good team, we all know that but they should be eliminated from the discussion.

And they lost to LUS by 20. They do not deserve to be in the playoff and last year’s results don’t matter.

Wow so Ohio State doesn't even get into an 8 team playoff?

Cmon man. A 2-loss non champion over 1-loss champions. And why should Alabama have to possibly beat them again. They had their chance - BYE

They also lost to LSU this year by 20 something points - no way

No winning a conference title has nothing to do with the CFP...it is the 4 best teams. Winning a conference title doesn't get you automatically qualified and I hope it never does. Otherwise if Pitt and Northwestern won today they could get in which would be ridiculous.

I never said Pitt and NW would automatically get in if they won their conference they all ready have 4-5 losses so that’s the no brainer.I said OU avenged their only loss and they deserve it by winning their conference which trumps tOSU who didn’t avenge their 29 point loss... Georgia had a playoff game and lost end of story...

If there where a 8 team playoffs, yes Pitt and NW would be a playoff if they won their CCG to get in the 8 team playoff..

Georgia is probably top four, but I'd like to see these conference championship games function more like an elimination game for the four team playoff. Georgia blew that lead and lost. They are out.

It didn't last year, bama didn't even get into it and still makes the playoffs

Yea, And I don’t like a team losing at the end in a CCG and get in when you only have a 4 team playoff and you have 5 Power conference’s not to mention Notre Dame..

Agreed. Beyond that, a conference should only get 1 team into the playoff. Sorry, if you don't win the conference, you aren't in.

The playoff makes the championship less of a single elimination than before, but it's still in theory single elimination. It isn't, single elimination EXCEPT for the S$C

Isn't the idea of the playoff to in part nudge us against the fool's game of hypotheticals; and instead reward teams based on actual results that happen on the field?

If we're going to focus our attention on hypothetical scenarios and disregard real results, we don't need a playoff at all. We can go back to the old bowl system and just vote for the NC.
