Talk about the heart of our country. If it wasn’t for the Baby Boomers this last 50 years where would we be? Honestly, I remember when gas cost $.50 a gallon and walking to school in snow uphill both ways...

Also, these milllenials and Gen-Xers have no idea how to warsh my car at the hands free.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I honestly think history will not be kind to the Baby Boomers. WW2 Generation gave them a bank account with money and the boomers will close out their run with several credit cards maxed out with no money to pay them off.

If anyone cares to do research they will find no generation has a moral high ground over any other generation. The world war II generation was polled about dropping 8 nuclear bombs on china during the korean war...80% agreed that it should be done. Truman declined the option from Macarthur and was viewed as a ***** by the public. Every generation has its vices and victories but is at the mercy of the previous one for the first 40 years of their life.

This. Gen-x is having to clean up and pay for your messes... I am paying for your social security ( which I’m not planning on getting), and Medicare/Medicaid and the monstrous debt you have run up...gen-x and millennials will be paying off the baby boomer debts for the next century. Oh, and thanks for getting us into the two most recent conflicts that the gen-x and millennials are doing all the fighting in. Fine work.

I don’t disagree. I was just speaking in the language of the OP... also, somewhat tongue in cheek as was the OP...

I remember when gas was $.29, they pumped it for you, they washed your windshield, checked the oil and the air pressure in the tires, AND they gave you a gift for filling up.

If the baby boomers did such a great job then why do we need Trump to MAGA?

No four wheel drive. No front wheel drive. Big *** cars and we liked it. That back seat was multi-purpose. Match book to prop up the 8-Track tape in my Craig Powerplay. Cruisin’ and boozin’. I have an idea, let’s siphon some gasoline. Falstaff. The Joker in CB. Fight much? Helmet to helmet contact or you’re sitting on the bench you wussy. No 3 point line. That sucked. Steroids? How about a salt tablet. Yeah, that’ll make you feel just dandy. It’s a wonder some us are still alive. Boom, baby.

Yeah, I suppose you had to be there. But it was all good. Well except when you swallowed the gasoline. My family moved from Colorado to Omaha when I was in high school. Nebraska was, and still is a very special place. I just wish these aholes here in CO could experience it.

Maybe that's because the wwII generation saw 375,000 of their young people killed, and many more maimed.

My brother complains about the US being the only country to drop a nuclear device on hiroshima and nagasoaki, but never think about the million or so casualties that would have occurred if an invasion of japan had happened. I asked him recently if he had ever visited a VA hospital. He hasnt.

Maybe some critical people should put themselves in the soldier's skin. I am not thinking china should have been bombed, but I did know a crippled veteran from the korean war, who was bedridden the rest of his life, taken care of by his aged parents.

My uncle was a combat marine in korea and saw many of his friends killed--about 53,000 of them. It's always easier to send someone else's child to war, isn't it? It is a shame that sometimes leaders think they need to.

Unfortunately, during raids on tokyo during wwII, as many as 120,000 per night were being killed from incendiary bombing. The A bombs were horrific, but maybe less people were killed with using them than would have if the war had gone on and on. I know, the lesser of two evils was still horrific and that doesn't make anything like that really acceptable.

The WW2 created a ponzi scheme that the baby boomers funded that won't be there for them.

I’ll take Bust. If there is truly a greatest generation then it is the WW2 Generation. Can you imagine coming of age during the Great Depression and then having to go fight in a World War? They and their parents were frugal. They did their duty most of them quietly, unceremoniously. Rich, poor, different ethnicities. There was no widespread draft card burnings unlike in the 60’s. After the war, they returned and built the greatest economic boom the US has ever seen. The majority lived modestly and give their children the things their parents couldn’t afford when they were young.

By comparison the Baby Boomers had it easy. All they to do was maintain. What did the Me Generation give us? Entitlement, Hypocrisy (60’s hippie movement drop out of society to 80’s yuppie greed and excess that continues today), Bad Government, Bad Social Progams, Bad Foreign Policy, Bad business and economic decisions (there are numerous layoffs and hardly any manufacturing jobs left in the US compared to the 50’s and 60’s just to make sure the wealthy execs get their multi million dollar annual bonus), Runaway Debt, Mixing Big Business with Politics, all out of greed. All of this did happen, and continues to happen under the Baby Boomer’s watch.

Besides some of the great music from the era, some of the cars, and the Huskers, I have nothing in common with Baby Boomers. Let the hits come. I’ll take bust!

Great post. As a late Boomer, I'm willing to admit we screwed the pooch in many ways. But I don't think you can lay the blame at the feet of "greed". Humans have been greedy since day one. There are other reasons things went south.

We are where we are because of the baby boomers. They were content watching their 401k’s grow & they let the country lose its identity, history & go to **** when should have been burying socialists/globalists 1 by 1.

Their goal is a world government & if you don’t think that the world wants a little US ***, you have your head in the sand.

You are not paying for my social security I paid for it in spades - However the spend at all cost politicians, stole my money and gave it to a bunch of social programs that all the Gen-x and millennials support. So I say you are just paying me back
