do you root for northwestern and texas?

I guess northwestern (not that they have a shot) cause it's the big west and ohio state don't need anymore limelight.
or do you take ohio state cause it's good for the big? and they could take oklahoma's (the big 12's) place in the playoff


and you root for texas cause it causes trouble for the big 12 putting oklahoma in double jeopardy
and knocks them out of the playoff
or do you root for 0u cause you kinda like them, and rooting for texas is like, pulling for north korea?

Pulling for Northwestern and Okie. I don't care what it does to the B1G's chances in the playoff.

Either Urban Meyer or Gene Smith is a blatant liar, and one of them should have lost his job. I understand UM's health issues are pretty serious, but that doesn't excuse the OSU athletic department for being dishonest to the school and/or public.

as much controversy around the payoff, i mean playoff, as possible...please.

since alabama and clemson aren't losing (maybe by saying that, one or both will!), i think ou and osu have to win to make a 6 or 8 teamer more likely down the road.

i really don't care if it goes to 6 or 8 for these teams' sakes and since we're nowhere near being in it, but i argued that we'd have a playoff with a know-it-all at work and i like being more and more right...in his face!

If OSU gets in the playoff, it loses by 4 TDs, minimum. Pulling for Northwestern to save the B1G the embarrassment. Will never pick UT, ever. So, that one's a no-brainer.

I'm rooting for Ohio St. As much as I dislike Urban Meyer and the coaching staff (that until recently included the world's biggest douche) I think the only teams that come close to Alabama talent wise are Clemson and Ohio St. If Alabama wins the title again it continues us down a path of one team so dominating college football that the NC race isn't fun anymore. I enjoyed watching Zeke run over the Alabama defense in 2015.

How about none of them, don't care for northwestern, Ohio state is win at all cost, has no integrity any more.
Can't stand texass but OU isn't much better, they're the ones who dropped playing us every year. Yes I blame texass for killing the big 12 but OU wasn't a innocent bystander

Not sure what time the games are without looking them up but I'll root for Texas on the condition that NW somehow upsets OSU and Bama beats Georgia. One of the few times that I would root for Texas.. I just want to see UCF opposite Bama lol

The whole Kyler Murray thing is interesting. Starts at aTm, then sits out a year to transfer to OU, backs up Baker Mayfield, and then gets drafted by the Oakland Athletics and signs contract. That's a whole lot of talent right there.

I am going to be a big Wildcat fan for about the next 40 days. Beat OSU and then win the Rose Bowl baby.....then go back to sucking next fall.:Cool:

If only there was a way for both NW and OSU to lose...

I go for OU no question. I guess in our absence of meetings I've grown some sort of liking for them to do well. Nostalgia?

I guess part of it comes from all the years of the conference belonging to NU/OU and now that we've left, OU ought to be in charge.

I hope to be in a position to care more about this in the future. When NU is so far out of the championship discussion, I pay very little attention to the playoff and even the bowls. It’s like hearing about a great party that everyone was invited to but you.

Probably better for the b10 as a whole to have Okie win and get in over tosu. This way that makes it twobstraight yrs b10 teams get shut out of playoffs and 3 yrs in a row a b10 conf champ doesnt make playoffs.

Maybe only then will Delaney pull his head out of his keister and go to 8 conf games. 9 conf games only handicaps the b10 and gives them extra built in overall losses which keeps fewerbb10bteams ranked or ranked lower.

Have still NEVER heard of a valid/good argument as to why 9 conf games is beneficial to the b10 in this current 4 team playoff instead of going to 8 conf games.

Less conf games equals more wins and less losses for b10 teams overall, which puts more b10 teams ranked throughout the yr as well as a better shot of not missing the 4 team playoff for b10 teams.

Higher ranked in season b10 team matchups or ooc matchups equals bigger ratings which means even more $$$.

Zero logic behind 9 conf games at all it only hurts ur conference.

So yeah i am rooting for ou to win and tosu to be left out.

Good point. More conference games ensures more conference losses.

The reason behind it is simple: more conference games = more conference games to televise. While non-conference games against cupcakes may still be televised on BTN, conference matchups are more likely to generate interest from the networks. That helps when negotiating a record new TV deal. I don't like it, but like most things in life, it all has to do with $$$

But to counteract the 1 less conf game. U have less built in losses, which means the b10 teams more will be ranked ,and more will be ranked higher. U will make up the extra non con game viewership by getting more people tuning in to the conf games and ooc games when b10 teams are ranked higher or ranked at all. Casual viewers instinctively look to see if there is a number next to a school name (ranking) the more numbers by b10 teams (which u will get w less built in losses and more wins) the higher the ratings will be. So it counter balances the one less conf game, plus the benefits for the b10 are much greater long run.

More teams ranked, greater league perception as a whole.

Look how often there are SEC teams ranked throughout the yr. They are able to do that cause they have fewer losses because they have 8 conf games and an extra cupcakeish game. That is 1 more win and 1 less loss for 6 teams in the b10. That is a lot. Also could equal better more lucrative lower tier bowl games for b10 teams having a better record which also means more $$ for the teams in the conf...

Seems like 8 conf games to me at least is a win win all the way around...

Does anyone know when playoff expansion could take place? Could it be as soon as next year?

I’m not sure it has even been discussed that much..
Not everyone one is for like the SEC when they can get two teams in it like this year if Gump gets beat by Georgia.

Big 10 needs representation in the playoff every year. If tOSU is hitting their stride (finally), they could beat anyone.

So I'm rooting for Ohio State, as hard as that is to do, and Texas, which is even harder.

If OU avenges their loss to texass, I see no reason to want to have a B1G representive..

If the situation was in reverse and a B1G team had a chance to make up for their only loss you would want the same treatment..

Mike Greenberg gave a great argument AGAINST an 8 team playoff, the first one that swayed my opinion. Look at the teams that would be included.

Alabama and Georgia
Ohio State and Michigan
Either UCF or a 3-loss team
Maybe both Oklahoma and Texas, if Texas wins a close one

These games have already been played. The conference championships ARE the beginning of the playoffs and an 8-team bracket would in several instances make them fairly meaningless.

There will always be a debate because there will always be a #5 team that can make a case for inclusion, but I have to admit that the #8 team rarely has any business being in the playoffs, and several teams that can make a claim to that spot.

So I'm off the expansion bandwagon. Win your regular season games or stop whining. UCF can whine, I'm OK with that. :)

My only issue is that every power 5 conference has a CCG so in essence the CCG is a playoff, all 5 conference champions should be in the playoffs then you could add a UCF and 2 at large..
