How Nebraska Broke the Bully

In 2015, Tommy Armstrong broke Michigan State, the proclaimed "bullies of the Big 10" by orchestrating a come from behind win against the Spartans.

To that point since the 2013 season, MichSt compiled an impressive 32-3 record, with a record of 7-3 against top 25 competition and 3-1 against top 5 opponents.

Since that game, it's been a different story as MichSt has seen an overall record of 23-18, 6-8 against top 25 opponents and 2-4 against top 5 opponents.

As to the 2-4 record against top 5 opponents, the 2015 game against Ohio State was the Buckeye's annual meltdown, as well as when Zeke Elliot called out the coaching staff for not feeding him the ball more often. The second top 5 win was against an Iowa that benefited from an easy schedule and were promptly blown out by Stanford in their bowl game.

Did we do to Michigan State what Colorado did to us in 2001? Has the curse officially shifted?

When Nebraska went to Colorado in 2001 they were undefeated and had lost only 11 games in the previous 8 years (1993-2000). Although some felt uneasy about how Solich was doing, there was not obvious indication of the downfall to come.

Without going into more detail, I'd say that Nebraska string of excellence was much longer (25+ years?) than the two year string that you mention for Michigan State.

Right, and I won't readily disagree with that but MichSt has been in constant contention for the Conference Championship and big bowl games much like post-Osborne Nebraska, which is mlre lr less my point.

Nebraska owns the deed for Michigan St. football. Iowa football is an unimproved piece of real estate up for auction this week.

We didn't break Michigan St, but I believe their glory days are behind them. Thug football spiraling.

Michigan State is gonna be really good next year, especially if Willekes comes back.

I don't agree. They need to make changes on offense. Warner is their OC. Seems to me Dantonio has a pretty big ego, he will not deal with personnel correctly. If Warner is the OC next season they will have a worse record, IMO.

Oddly enough i know the guy right next to me and his 2 seats are for sale. Pity, he wont sell them to a sker.

Ok, what's your prediction for the game? I'll make my prediction here. I have alot of respect for the Iowa football team. They play physical, disciplined football. The team is greater than the sum of its parts. So, obviously well coached.

All that being said, I loooathe, mouth breathers like yourself.

Huskers 38-17 Alley birds.

I would have given you decent odds on a much better bet than that.

We control TOP with ball control and see a heavy dose of running. Your boys will score some points because tmart 2.0 is a great athlete. At the end of the day our big uglies will win on both sides and you guys like to cough up the ball. Hawks 35-24.

We have lost 4 games by less than 25 points combined. No way in "nebraska" you win by 21.

It will be a good game. Your not a mouth breather. At least you made a prediction. No injuries and a good game.

Yeah the fan-cam from the end zone showed it clearly. It doesn't have to be a big shove, just enough contact to cause it.
I can give you the names of a few therapists if you are still angry about it though.

Not my circus, I just remember the play. The defender didnt do anything to push him out he would have had to shove him if you are saying he was coming back in with the Camara angle I showed. Didnt happen.

Wrong, the defender wrong in a way that forced Reilly out of bounds, and also made contact with him while he was out.

Per the rules, that is forcing him out. No shove necessary.

Yeah mike Riley single handedly broke there program. He didn’t get enough credit for the good job he did. He didn’t have any players but that was Barney cottons fault since he was the head coach before just before mr Rodgers Riley showed up.

Prove me wrong

Riley deserves no credit for anything accomplished with TommyGun at QB.

Also, you should consider not having 3 pics and a book chapter of weightless quotes in your sig. Total eyesore.

That was not the conversation. Iowa is the "Bullies of the big 10".

Dunce.
How is it being a bully when you regularly lose 4-6 games a year? Bullies beat up on people and are feared. Iowa gets mentioned and people laugh. Maybe you think calling people a ddddd ddd ddd dunce if being a bully. Alrighty then...tuff guy.

I know this is a tough concept but "bully" is not a synonym with "best". We built the "bully" name on the style of hard hitting, hard nosed, workmanlike teams. (Something nebraska used to be known for)

Just going to go out on a limb here and say Pat Narduzzi may have something to do with the decline

That describes about 3 teams in the B1G that are much better than Iowa like Wisconsin, Michigan State, Michigan ...

Iowa is not the bully and never will be. At best, they're the guy who thinks standing around with the bullies and referring to the collective group as "we" means they're one and the same.

Didn't yall get blown out by the bully of the Pac12?

What history? That all your "bullying" with Kirk Ferentz has earned you one conference title?

Iowa is the Great Value Wisconsin.

Would have to win the Rose Bowl this half century and B1G like MSU and Wisconsin have since we joined to be a bully..

And now I know why the country looks at all of nebraska like they are all larry the cable guy.

Bully does not mean the team that wins the most.
