Illinois is not falling fast. Their 7 deep is basically 3 newcomers, (2 Fr and 1 JC) 2 So, 1 jr and 1 sr. Underwood is a very good coach, that will play a pressing style of defensive basketball that relates well to Chicago kids.

He took a team at OK St that won 12 games the year before and got them to the NCAA tournament in year one. He scheduled aggressively this year at Illinois, going to Maui and they also drew Notre Dame and Georgetown in the B1G/ACC challenge and Gavitt Games respectively.

If I were an Illini fan, I would be excited about the future and not at all discouraged.

Similarly, for Creighton, their top seven are 3 soph, 2 fr, and 2 jr. They will be fine going forward.

Sadly, the illini hired a coach with a system when they needed to hire a recruiter with a system. Underwood did the right thing in nabbing Chin Coleman to help with Chicago/Down South...but he is not enough which is why they missed on the top 3 in the state this year (Those guys went to Oregon, Kentucky and OSU)

They got beat, at home, by a super young/bad Hoya team that had no problem breaking the pressure and shooting 55%.

His team at OSU was fun...but also had a 1st round PG (Evans, I think he was a first rounder)

Man, you fanboys are amazing I will give you credit for that.
Yeah anybody who thinks Greg McDermott might actually be pretty good at what he does, and may still have some good seasons ahead of him, is clearly a delusional fanboy who OMG OMG OMG just loves Creighton!

Good Lord, there's been some brain-dead dipshittery posted in these threads before, but this takes the big prize.

They also didn't have Trent Frazier for that Georgetown game. Georgetown will be 13-1 going into Big East play, and may beat Syracuse they way the Orange played last night against UCONN.

I just think it is too early to say a team is bad but that Seton Hall team that Nebraska beat was bad defensively and had 1 player that can score, it was a close game through 30 minutes, yet the announcers were calling it a win over a big opponent.

True, not having Trent was huge...but at home...favored by 9...when Ewing outcoaches Underwood it is not a good sign. The aggressive overplay D is fun but might not work in a P5 conference where pretty much every team has a guard(s) that can beat guys off the bounce.

Illinois is going to get rocked Monday by the zags and will be lucky to come back from Maui with 1 win. Fall recruiting has been suspect at best and they last 15 official visitors they have had in...have all went to another school.

I HOPE they have a great season and that it looks like they are trending up...but my eyes tell me that is not the case. They should have sold their souls and hired Kevin Keatts before he got to NCState.

no such thing as what? Someone who can openly cheer for both teams? I guess I dont really exist then.

And yes, Creighton is down this year, and Nebraska should be able to finally beat them. I have told several people this over the years, I cheer for both teams in mens basketball, and neb in football. When the basketball teams play, I cheer for the team that benefits the most with a win. This year that is the Huskers.
Exactly ..fair weather fan.. thanks for proving my point

How many times have I heard it’s all over now for McDermott etc? But the lucky bastard just keeps lucking out.
It’s not really a Creighton vs Nebraska thing. More so a McDermott vs Miles thing. He forwhatever reason has owned Miles. This year we will probably be favored by 7-9 points. If Miles can’t beat him with this team he may never do it.

It isn't about "this year" it is about where they are headed...They have LIVED off sons of coaches, and lucky transfers...that is a hard way to build a team.

I am not a Husker hoop fan at all...

oh good golly, JRE. At least think about what you type. Palmer and Copeland say hi. Its another .500 team at best without those two transfers. Or is only luck if its someone else getting potential NBA talents to transfer in?

No...I am not a Husker fan! I don't give a rats *** about Husker basketball. Yes it was lucky that those guys "hit" no I don't think Miles is some good coach now.

Just like I don't think Doug is a good coach for railing his wife and making his son.

No, he doesn't That is why the team doesn't do anything of note each year. His wins are not lucky...it was a few recruitments that were.

That same Hoya team that scored 88 and shot 55% vs Illinois just scored 52 points and shot 35% vs LMU

Sorta like sooner magic in the early 1980's more of a lucky breaks on their part. Miles needs to have a couple of drinks before the game so he's relaxed no so up tight
