So technically zero night home games this year and 4 11 am kickoffs. Screw the dam B1G and their shitting down our throats. You guys do realize this is a big F-U to our program for bringing in Scott Frost and his offense.

This makes it extremely difficult to get kids in on official visits when we keep having 11 am kickoffs. This can’t be coincidental. And what are we suppose to be happy that we pulled the Fox game? Screw that. I’d rather play the night BTN game. In this day in age all the games are all on TV, i could give a rats *** which channel. It makes zero difference.

But allowing a program to bring kids in from all over to watch a game is very important. F- the B1G and their fear of change. I get it. The B1G has a history of blue collar smash mouth football with tuff defenses. And Scott Frosts offense hurts that image.

The Big 10 plays a lot of 11AM games in general. I don't think they were trying to screw us. We screwed ourselves by having a 3-7 record.

Ding ding ding. You hit it on the nail. We keep getting the 11am slot because we’re 3-7. We’re still in the bottom half of the conference I believe.

I guess this is a dream for journalists. Also allows our coaches to spend the night with their families.

I agree, they play a ton of 11 am because of the cold. And maybe my knee jerk reaction was an overreaction but I still think it’s ****.

A 3-7 NU team is a bigger drawl for views then a 6-4 Northwestern team. I’m sorry, no one gives a rats *** about NW. they are boring. So is Iowa & 80% of the B1G

Northwestern has a huge alumni following. Especially in the east coast, so they do have a lot of fans.

So much they even fill up their own tiny *** stadium, right? Big NW football following.

Look if your going to argue with me about this, at least understand how to fight. NW doesn’t have a big football following. But the fans they do have are usually rich. And that makes it easy to sell more TV ads for

The networks and conference arrange games based on the highest potential profit margins. They do not make decisions to screw a team or teams that would otherwise cost them money.

Some people sound like the WNBA hacks who claim if the media would simply promote them they would be as popular as the NBA.

The biggest big ten game of the day was OSU-MSU - a noon EST kickoff

Yep, I agree with oldjar here. It’s only been since we joined the Big Ten that the conference even started scheduling night games after November 1st. So it’s a fairly new concept to the Big Ten. It has more to do with our current record. We’re 3-7 sitting at #5 in the BIG west. Best case scenario, IF we can beat both MSU and Iowa, then we’ll finished #4 at best. MSU is 6-4 and #3 in the East. If we want later games we need to win. I think the Big Ten is thrilled that we have Frost. They desperately need some balance because right now it’s all about the East. NU under Frost could become a powerhouse and provide that balance. But they’re not going slot us in prime time based on what might be.

Also, I think it’s the networks that have final say on game times, so I don’t think it’s fair to blame the conference. I think Fox made the game time decision. They make the call as to whether it will be a national broadcast on Fox or a broadcast on BTN. In this case Fox exercised the option to put NU/MSU as a national broadcast on Fox rather than on BTN.

I agree. I guess ultimately I’m just pissed that the IL game was the 11 am game. We knew that NU vs MSU would be picked by Fox. We knew the tOSU vs NU game would be on Fox. Even though the upcoming game means nothing to the conference it’s still more appealing to the average fan than NW vs MN, which actually does mean something to the conference

You couldn't be more wrong.

Fox picked Michigan State @ Nebraska as the #1 selection. The Huskers are a 3 win team in November, and they drew a National TV game. The notion of the Big Ten sending an FU to Nebraska is absurd.

Yes but maybe that is why they put the Neb game at 11 where there may be fewer nationally relevant games being played. Any 3:30 kickoff is going to compete with supposedly higher level games. Although I don’t think there are a lot of big games next week

Most recruits are done with their high school/JUCO seasons by now. They can fly in Friday night.

The early start will give our coaches more time to spend with them after the game.

Lay off the alcohol. Nobody is fighting nobody. And I agree with you, their fans typically have money. I live in the Big Apple and I see a lot of alumni at bars, etc. Where are you typing from? Your mothers basement in Kearney, Nebraska?

There’s no conspiracy to the 11am slot. Looking at it from the Big 10 perspective, they know Nebraska fans will tune in at any time of the day, so might as well make money from the morning slot. And we have no room to argue because we’re 3-7.

As for recruiting, our class is pretty much set. We’re going to get 8-12 recruits this weekend. Key Jucos and Ty Robinson who is our biggest target now.

Good, after I watch Nebraska play, I can watch some of the nationally relevant games going on. Works out pretty well if people don't feel the need to complain about everything.

In November, I think an early game is good for all things EXCEPT yes, recruiting. Night games in November would be a horrible risk. The early time slot benefits fans in November and this team plays better at the early time (coincides better with their normal practice time).

The later you get in the season though the less critical the start time is for recruiting purposes because a lot of JUCO and high schools will have finished up their seasons already.

I don't think the conference picks the times, do they?

With that said...This conference sucks balls for a ton of reasons.

Fox has games next week in 3 time slots 11:00, 2:30 and a night game, I wish we could have been selected for the 2:30 game. I agree with the earlier thread no games before 12:00 central time.
Here is the start times I would like12:00,3:30,7:00 ct.

No night games in novNovem in the BIG.
I don't think that's a hard-and-set rule, they started permitting November night games in 2014.

2016
05 Nov, 7:30pm: Iowa at #20 Penn State (BTN)
05 Nov, 8pm: #9 Nebraska at #6 Ohio State (ABC)
12 Nov, 7:30pm: Minnesota at #21 Nebraska (BTN)
12 Nov, 8pm: #2 Michigan at Iowa (ABC)
19 Nov, 8pm: #9 Penn State at Rutgers (BTN)

2015
07 Nov, 7pm: #6 Michigan State at Nebrasla (ESPN)
07 Nov, 8pm: Minnesota at #1 Ohio State (ABC)
14 Nov, 8pm: Minnesota at #8 Iowa (BTN)

Haha. No. I’m typing with my 4 month old in my arms after a long night of him waking up. Didn’t mean to piss you off. Sorry. Probably just a little to tired to post

And for the record, I live with my wife and kid in a city down south. And there is nothing wrong with Kearney NE. But great to see you being the typical NYC ******* who thinks he’s better than everyone cause you live in NY. I go there a month a year for work. Like my time there but also love leaving there too. And if you think living in NY makes you cool or better than anyone who may live small town anywhere USA, you are a superficial tool

The early start will give our coaches more time to spend with them after the game.

After looking into it, it appears that most of the high school recruits that were scheduled to visit still have playoff games this Friday night. So unless they can catch a very early flight, they likely won't be visiting.

I'm guessing it will mostly be mostly JUCO recruits visiting Saturday.

No night games in novNovem in the BIG.

There was 3 years ago, we beat MSU in Lincoln..

Of course next week is the 2nd full week in November and I can see after the first week in November why the B1G wouldn’t want night games..

Wasn’t insinuating that I’m better than you. Was just saying that I live in the city and there are a lot of NW fans. You said that there aren’t many Northwestern fans so I asked if your were from Kearney because surely there, there aren’t many NW fans, if any. And in regards to small town, I have family that lives in Imperial so by no means do I or will I ever belittle small towns.
