Who thinks Martinez

I don’t recall anyone thinking he’s bad. He’s the dude that’s going to lead us back to the conference natty and perhaps even win it. Special talent.
There was a thread on it a couple games in to the season...but only one or two posters in there. Most, I'm sure knew he would make freshman mistakes but saw the huge potential. Never doubted his ability and confidence especially as a freshman. I def saw the signs he could make a great one eventually.

AM is the best QB we've had for a long, long time, even as a true frosh. Of course, he also plays like a true frosh at times. You have to take the good with the bad while he learns.

He is really good right now. When learns to read the pass rush, gets a feel for the pressure and is more decisive in his run game, he will be great. Maybe one of the greatest. Lots of games and years left.

I do. I think Frost should have redshirted AM, "blended" his offense to Lee's, POB's and Gebbia's skills, and started AM to run his offense as a senior after Gebbia graduated. Experienced coaches like Mike Riley excel by "blending" their systems with the horses that have in the barn.
(not drunk, just making a silly thread sillier)

Every week for weeks and weeks the guys on the Final Drive have nothing but praise for this young man. You don’t get that sort of attention because you’re not a fantastic player.

Our offense is becoming more amd more explosive and it’s his command that aids in that.

I didn’t expect this type of performance from a true freshman QB this season.

I’ve certainly been impressed with him.

That was me and it was early in the season. I think he's doing a much better job this second half of the season.

Aside from the Michigan game what did you see an issue with other than expected freshman mistakes?

Well I was concerned about several things, most of which he has improved since then.

First was durability. I want to say it was game 4 when he finally played a full game without backups coming in, so I am glad for that.

My other issues were leadership, which we are seeing more of. You get the sense that it is his team now. Early, it felt a bit iffy, as other qb's were still getting snaps and no one seemed to take over the role.

The final thing I wanted to see, was him making plays when we really needed it. He did score that late TD throw against Ohio State, so some improvement there, but this is still to be determined as time goes on.

Yes, he has improved over the course of the season, but he never was "horrible", which was the exact word one poster used earlier in the season(I think it was during the Wisconsin game).

is a bad quarterback now? I read the threads. I won't attack your posts. I'm just wondering.

Anyone that ever said Martinez was a bad quarterback is a complete idiot. Is this a troll post? Or are you trying to call out someone in particular? I ask because I have not seen anyone say Martinez is a bad quarterback.

You actually were the 10th post in the thread quoted by Captain Nick. You posted in it but don’t remember it?

His decision making has improved and will continue to improve. His accuracy on the short passes has gotten better, he seems to give his receivers a better chance to do something after the catch than he did earlier in the year. Considering he didn't play his Senior year in high school, I'd say he's ahead of where we had any right to expect him to be. I'm really looking forward to the rest of his career.

C'mon Sixx! Your not-from-here-armchair-psychoanalyst told you he didn't possess A-Team thinking.. that the way he conducted interviews led your friend (and you by proxy) to believe Adrian would never be able to go for it cuz he was just "born that way".. Or am I off?

One other thing on his decision making that has improved over the first couple games is that he’s learned how to stay away from unnecessary contact, which is critical as we have zero QB depth.

I think that #44 from Colorado had something to do with that when he attempted to separate AM’s lower leg from the rest of his leg after he was down (hopefully he gets some payback next year)

Move the chains and get out of bounds or get down.

First, I don't have anything to prove anything to you. I stand by whatever I said in the context of when it was said. Now I don't think he even took post game questions for the first 3 or 4 weeks and then there was the whole issue of qb's joking on the sideline and what not. His stoic behavior did look like a guy that wasn't trying while we racked up loss after loss.. So yeah, I questioned some of that. He still hasn't proven some of those things I questioned. I never said the kid was horrible and didn't start that thread either.

Not bad at all, but a few more overthrows than usuall.......wind?

The throw I've seen him consistently miss is the little swing pass to the back. Seems like they have to turn backwards to catch it. If that throw is in front of them where they can catch it without slowing down it's an extra 5-10 yards.

Agree......but I was thinking the TD miss to Spielman seemed to sail, but into the wind he hit Morgan in stride for a TD.

Pull back on the reigns a bit. Im hoping that we can even get into the conf. championship game in the next 3 years, little lone play for a NC. We are a long ways from greatness.

I see a lot of Mariota in this kid. Accurate and can run like the wind. Pretty special. I think the coaches who coached Marcus see it too. What a great time to be a Husker fan.

The more they expand his play book and if he improves on his touch passes... he could be a 3500 pass, 700 rush guy next year. While completing close to 70% of his passes.

If you're going to hold dumb **** people say in fits of rage during games against them for life you could get most of this board put on palliative care against their will.

I've avoided posting a lot of stupid things by staying off of here during games.
