We trade Troy and Akron for South Alabama and Northern Illinois
We trade Michigan State for Indiana

We should be 4-0 when Ohio State comes to town. If we can win that game, we can make a run.

vs. South Alabama: tune-up game, 42-17
at Colorado: no Montez, 41-20
vs. Northern Illinois: trap game, 37-27
at Illinois: rebound game, 55-10
vs. Ohio State: Haskins improves, tOSU takes care of the ball, 28-42
vs. Northwestern: revenge game, 45-24
at Minnesota: PJ's seat gets hot, 62-17
vs. Indiana: another beatdown, 49-12
at Purdue: no Blough, possibly no Brohm: 38-17
vs. Wisconsin: UW gets 200 rushing yards, but so do we. 34-24
vs. Iowa: Long sustained drives keep ball out of NU's hands. 24-17

Big 10 Championship vs. Michigan: NU meets a superior defense, 17 - 28

Citrus Bowl vs. Florida: Citrus Bowl record for total points scored, 48-45

It's like this year doesn't exist. Seems to me a lot will change between now and next season. Are you really predicting the future or is this just a wishlist?

While I don’t share the optimism of 11-1 regular season, next year is a favorable schedule. Projecting out a few years, it’s too bad the 2019 schedule is coming a year or two early. We have a brutal schedule a few years in a row after that. Hopefully it won’t matter, but it’s going to be tough sledding to make any kind of national noise unless we are significantly better than most teams in our league by that point.

I didn't say that. I just think it's a little early to predict next year. No?
This is a board for fans. Predicting your favorite teams outcome a year in advance is exactly what fanatics do!

I agree. Just let it play out. Yes, it is fun to look at the schedule and point at the games we should win, but we did that this year and are at 2-7. Let's just continue to see progress, have Duval do work, and bring in more talent. The wins will start happening as we build this thing.

What I am noticing most from your prediction is that you must think our struggling D gets night and day difference next year. I don't see that happening. #1 because Chins D at UCF last year wasn't that good. #2 I don't see us getting the players needed to make a drastic D change. I believe under Frost our Offense is going to be showtime and are D is going to be just average. I would be amazed if we hold every one of our opponents next year under 30.
Other questions going into next year is can we get a big time WR or 2 to step up and take Morgans roll? Can Washington or another RB fill OZ roll? How will the O and D lines look? Can we find some guys to get pressure on the opposing QB? If we can't there is no way you prediction is going to be correct.
I am going to predict this. Outside of Ohio St and CU I bet we are favorites going into the others. Only reason I say CU could be a fav is because it is so early in the year and it is at their house. Record wise I think 9-3

Ah, the dreaded 11-game regular season. Hopefully we can pick up another game before the season starts. I hear Maryland has an opening the same week we do. Winking

Just find a couple guys to get to the passer..With our offensive potential it is literally the difference between 2-7 and 6-3.

Why would you think that?

We'll be improved, but I don't see going from 3-7 or 4-8 to 9-3 or 10-2 as a realistic possibility (yet). Despite coming close at OSU, this team still has a long way to go and a lot to prove. If we win out this year then 9-3 & 10-2 next year might not be unrealistic.

I need to see how we finish off this year before making a prediction on next.

I Agree. It’s way too early to even think about it when this season ended yet and with signing day is a little over a month away in December..

This has the same feeling as 2018 predictions threads. 2-7 say hello.
However I do think we at least have a direction now. Where as last year we had no clue where this team was at, and we found out it was very bad. I think we are in an upward direction now. Honestly I think all should be looked at as winnable, and the only one I see us a dog in would be Ohio St. Realistically I see 3-4 losses next year. Worst case 5 losses. Best case 1 loss. It is all going to depend on if we can find WRs to step up and Fill Morgans spot. Ideally 2 or 3. If Washington can step in for oz and if one of the backup can produce. If we can find some guys to get a pass rush. If our special teams can start to be at least half competent. There are too many ifs
