a guaranteed win in my view. They have a physical offense and AJ Bush at quarterback, dual threat... remember. The defense is fairly disciplined. They are on a similar arc as the Huskers. I dont think this will be an easy game.

Make me feel better about this game.

I agree. AJ is going to have a little extra juice for this one and he is one tough dude to tackle. We haven't exactly dealt with dual threat guys very well. Their slaughter of Minnesota got my attention.

Their defense is horrible. They've given up 45 points or more 4 times this year. They've given up 63 twice-one of them just the week before this past game. One team has scored more than 45 on us, and that was Michigan. They're going to have to outplay us on offense to win. No way I see that happening.

They will not have for touchdown plays of 67 yards or longer against us. Minnesota is absolutely terrible on defense. Way worse than ours. So bad that Fleck fires the defensive coordinator today.

Their offense may be decent, but don’t let Minnesota convince you that their offense is the second coming of Oregon.

I don't think you'll have as big of a problem as you think. Our defense played terribly. So much so that the DC got fired after the game. probably not a gimme, but I think you'll win this one at home.

Great! Our defense is better then? I haven't watched them much. I know the offense is physical.
People seem to have no problem maligning our defense, but yes, Illinois's defense is worse. They are 3rd to last in total defense. It seems funny to me that their big win over Minnesota at home is supposed to mean they are suddenly tougher than we thought, but apparently our equally as big win over Minnesota at home doesn't mean anything to some people.

Yeah I have a feeling it could be a shootout type game. I still think we come out on top. I think we give up a ton of yards and points.

I see they fired their DC. I thought they were a top 20 defense.

They have a very good rush offense, but they can’t throw and are bad on defense against the rush and the pass. It’s no guarantee, but we should probably win this game.

The nice thing is that they killed Minnesota last week, so the close game to OSU won’t make us overlook them (not that Nebraska should be overlooking anybody).

Our whole team has improved greatly, however the defense is not good. Domann at OLB was the right move.

Our defense misses run fits frequently. The defense is playing better. Especially in the secondary. There is one particular ILB that misses his run fits, but injuries make him the guy. I love those guys and the defense, and that ILB.

Our defense is susceptible to the power run. That's the real.

They're going to have their hands full dealing with our offense. Especially now that our Oline is coming around. Nothing great but way, wayyyyy better.

Maybe it's just me but I'm seeing our defense improving too. Like the OLine, nothing great but big steps in the right direction. I doubt they can hang with us very long.

Some still do. I hope we get back to that place where I can. My wife no longer invites people over on game day because the Huskers struggles have resulted in a less than ideal environment for people to socialize with me. :)

I sorta embarrassed myself at a bar this last Saturday, by dropping a few choice words louder than I needed to, and I slapped the top of the table a couple times when we screwed up. My friends looked at me like I was losing my mind, which I sort of was when AM threw that ball backwards. I need to cool it.

The Vegas line reflects the matchup advantages for Nebraska. Illinois is one dimensional, and if you want to exploit the Huskers, you need to throw the football. AJ is a great athlete, but he struggles with intermediate throws which isolate the Husker backers in coverage.

Illinois can make some hey on special teams though.

That's not bad in my view. I have a more Bo Pelini approach to Husker football, especially if I'm drinking. I wonder about your friends, are they women. If so, SmokinSmokin:)

Nothing is ever a guaranteed win. Everybody always needs to worry about the next game.

I think that's a new thought process that has developed as far as Husker fans. When I was a kid, the only game, the singular regular season game I was worried about was Oklahoma.

After that win, was who we were going to play for the National Title.

We have fans that are so downtrodden they can't see the drastic improvement. We have some that still expect us to destroy teams that they perceive as bad.

I understand we don't have the team we want, but I love these Huskers because for the first time in many years, our team is gonna be much, much better at the end of the season than the beginning.
