Torching us all season long, especially on 3rd and long. Even Bethune abused us from the slot and screen. What has Chin been doing to stop this?

This is going to be a huge problem on Saturday, I’m afraid. Our D has actually gotten better in a lot of ways, but our inability to cover inside receivers is killing us.
I would like to see the dline get their hands up more..try and tip more of those balls up in the air and give us a shot at a pick. Especially since they havent been great at getting to the qb.. that would help those dbs chasing wrs around.. we will see how they do this week. Problem is osu has 2 great backs and a accurate qb ..so do you try and stop tge run or play the pass..you have to take one away i would think..could be a long day
I think their passing game is much better than the run. Purdue exposed that even more. I think we sell out to stop the pass and make them beat us running. If they still beat us, so be it.
Didn’t we do everything we could to stop the pass against Norhwestern - especially in the fourth quarter? It still didn’t work.
Lol Yeah, not saying it will work. We just don't have the D to stop Ohio St. I have a feeling they will be able to do what they want against us. Just saying, their passing game is the strongest of the 2.
This may be an instance where we just lack the dudes. They wouldn't be putting Aaron Williams in the slot to cover if they had a better option, but I think that's the problem--we lack better options.
Scheme-wise it would probably help if we played more zone, but I haven't seen much zone from us this year, and it doesn't seem to be a big part of Chins' defensive philosophy.

Our DB's have a hard time covering with a blanket! Big recruiting effort this next signing period. Maybe something good would rub off, if they were shown film of Deion Sanders in both college and the pros. But do not show them Deion trying to tackle anyone!
Watching us cover short 'crossing' patterns or 'button hooks' where they "post-up" is painful. I still get flashbacks (or nightmares) of the prior regime... We have gotten better near the sidelines, though.
