Depending on how you look at it... I think Martinez's completions were a record on Saturday for completion percentage with a minimum of 20 passes. The prior record was Dave Humm at 23 of 27. Adrian's cousin Taylor still has the overall record at 13 for 14 (this game was when Bo had his health scare and Papuchis led us to victory over Gus Malzahn).

From HuskerMax records pdf:

Completion Percentage: (min. 10 att.)-92.86; Taylor Martinez, QB, vs. Arkansas St., Sept. 15, 2012 (14 att., 13 comp.); (min. 20 att.)-85.19; Dave Humm, QB, at Kansas, Oct. 19, 1974 (27 att., 23 comp.)

Pretty remarkable day considering that Martinez and Humm were both upperclassmen in their respective systems

Cousins Actually the announcers Saturday at one time called 2AM Taylor so I was thinking maybe t-magic was back

Great video, nearly 5 minutes of Martinez highlights just from the Minnesota game. It's really impressive, still can't believe all this from 1 game.

We could not have asked for a better QB from last years class, even if Frost had the #1 pick of the draft, I don't think he could have picked a better player and kid to build this thing around. Amazing fortune.

100% agreed. AM is a superb talent and we're damn lucky to have him. When our OLine starts coming around we'll be almost truly unstoppable.

Hahaha.... the announcers did the same thing against Purdue and against NW

Ha! You bet, both Martinez NU qbs were/are just bloody unreal. Imo, "nobody" has/had the warp7 acceleration of TM but AM is close and seems to run more balanced & smoother.

I just hope in a year or two NU's defense will far, far better for AM than what TM's horrible blackshirts were. If so, we're going to be rough, tough sledding for anybody.

The mark of a great one is that when you watch it, it seems so easy. Before his career is over he will go down as a top 5 Husker QB.

Please tell me you're not forgetting Eric Crouch. If just an oversight, then my apologies.

Healthy TMart had better acceleration and top end speed. Crouch was much better laterally and could put a move on you.

While TMart was first team all B1G, he certainly was Heisman caliber like Crouch.

Eric Crouch was one of the fastest QBs of all-time. Didn’t he run like a 10.3 or 10.4 100
Meters?

I think they both had similar acceleration which was their biggest strengh, while TMart had higher top end speed. Crouch was better laterally.

One of they incompletions was when Stanley had his jersey pulled off his shoulder pad but no call. So 25 for 28 if refs don’t miss blatant PI.

AM might have more improvational escapability than either Crouch or Taylor. He has great acceleration. But his top end slightly below the other two at least with leg brace/current knee status.

Passing, he has them both by a mile. Mahomes is a better comparison. AM is better runner. He is 6’2” vs PM 6’3”.

Forgetting Eric Crouch? No, no......he was terrific to say the least! But not even Crouch, as great as he most certainly was, had the unreal acceleration of TMart (when healthy). It was a blast seeing the opponent's secondary get left in the dust.

Hey, that's just my opinion. No biggie if you disagree. But without doubt, on the football field, those three were something else. It's GREAT fun to watch AMart and I'm thrilled we have him!

I just looked up their best 40 times. They both clocked 4.47. I still think TMart had quicker acceleration. Part of that was the offensive scheme. Tmart was running a lot of zone reads. On those the qb is making the read and then taking a straight line to the hole. Crouch was still running old school option where he was heading down the line of scrimmage before turning it up.

And crouch held onto the ball. Tmart led the nation in fumbles.

Tmart has horrible throwing motion, but he had decent throwing stats and could throw a nice fade with his arm punt.

Adrian has big shoes to fill in the family. Taylor was a winner and a Nebraskan icon. Those legendary Husker teams won 10 games twice and 9 games twice during his four years of glory.

This is a different kind of trolling.

Be careful, because if you do enough research you may be taken in by the success of this program and abandon Iowa. None of us want to see that.
