Listened to Tommie pod casts the last few weeks. He seems very negative towards this team and especially Frost. Any reason why? Does he have a history with Frost?

1. Tommy the was the qb of back to back national championships...the only qb to lead TO to a national title
2. Then Frost came along and won another title,
3. Tommy flame out as coach at doane in a disastrous display of incompetence.
4. Frost has a 35 million dollar contract at NU
5. LP
No they did not get along because of a little incident that Frost had with Philips. Phillips was a brother, while Frost was a noob. Phillip caught Frost with his ex-girlfriend, most know the rest of the story. As a result, Phillips missed the majority of the year due to suspension and screwed himself out of the Heisman Trophy.

The fact he makes his living doing podcasts while SF is coaching NU tells you everything you need to know. Tommie was a great player for NU and I'll always love him for that, especially his TD run vs. Florida. But the dude was a dick then and is a dick now.
This is so funny to me, because on every occasion when I have run into Tommie, he's been nothing but cool to me.

We do live in a society filled with examples of incompetence being rewarded. Heck, look at Mike Riley for starters. So, I'm not sure I would gauge a person's competence by the amount of their paycheck. Those two things don't seem to be that well related.. almost opposite of each other seems more normal..

I haven't listened to his podcast though, so now I'm curious what he is saying.. could just be that Tommie is human too and feeling a bit negative at all the losses, just like some others on this board, including myself.

To be fair, I have a new excuse for Scott and the team and it's basically that the reason for all the losses is the immediate switch to a new system.

We saw what happened when we made Riley sort of hang on to the old system, and while we had square peg round hole issues, the wheels didn't really fall off until the defensive change his last year.

Scott has changed it all up front, on both sides of the ball, so that is the last excuse I really have to blame this on.

This is exactly what I see. All new systems right away, no honeymoon season for the players.

I could be wrong, but didn't a neighbor testify in court that they saw Frost leaving the building before the "incident" took place

I am all for Frost and think good things are coming, but how do you think people would react if say Willie Taggart was leading us to an 0-6 record?

I have to think Frost being a native son is sure helping with the patience.
I agree, but the way Frazier seems to come across is that it is all on Frost. I am not denying he takes some of the blame and probably lost us the NW game. It is also obvious we don't have the raw talent to hang with teams like Mich, Wisc, Ohio St. Right now the players can't seem to get out of their own way mentality wise. Frazier did admit that there probably isn't a single player on the team right now that would be playing for any of our NC teams.

It is all on Frost. There's no way, even with a new system, that we should be 0-6. If we were the better team on Saturday, then the difference was the coaching. It all starts at the top and Frost should be held accountable. You can still win games in a rebuild. Or maybe we should play in UCF's ****** conference. (yeah, I know that will bring the UCF trolls out of the woodwork)

And the season isn't over yet. I think we will win games going forward. Since Michigan, I've seen progress every week in the way this team plays. Yeah we wet the bed the last 5 minutes of the NW game and ultimately Frost and his staff are responsible for that. BUT, NW's QB had a hand in that too. We played pretty darned good football for 55 minutes and just didn't find a way to finish. I'm still excited about the future with Frost. When that offense is clicking it's beautiful to watch and I think our guys are getting a handle on the D. We need a few pieces on that side, but we'll get there. Hey, I'm one of the guys who thought we could win 8 games this year. IF we had gotten some breaks with turnovers and penalties we could be sitting with one loss. We didn't so we're not and that's the way it is but I'm in this for the long haul. IMO, this short term pain will be well worth the long term gain. Have faith little buckaroo.:)

I agree. I think Frost and Co are realizing winning is not going to be as easy compared to the AAC. UCF fans can sugar coat it all they want. BIG10 is a much much much tougher league. He has alluded to that in some of his pressers. Even our crap teams would be towards the top there.. I believe he will get it figured out, just might take longer than he thought or we wanted. I still believe he is the best man for the job.

Stanley and J.D. would have started.

The thing everyone will tell you about Tommie is he had no patience for dudes who didn't know what they were doing or weren't killers.

Ask Benning about Frazier calling him scared in the Orange Bowl and telling the sideline to get him out because DB mentioned that FSU came to hit after (IIRC) Derrick Brooks tackled him. Derrick Brooks of all people.

So I'm sure he sees kids who haven't figured out yet what playing hard means and how far the talent has sunk that you can be just OK playing for Nebraska and not get replaced. It pisses me off when I see somebody who sucks at waiting tables because I did it, I can't imagine being a college HOF player and watching your alma mater suck.

You can bet it makes HCSF furious too, but at this point he understands that this problem can't be solved by yelling at kids or telling them about the 90s. He needs players and years in the weight room.

QB would be. And I love Tommie Frazier.

Martinez with that offense would be the greatest in history, imo........

Intangibles are yet to be seen.

Jimmy Johnson started off with the Dallas Cowboys 1-15. People stated the same things with him. Winning in the NFL wasn’t going to as easy compared to college football @ Miami. The cream rises to the top. Some times it just needs to settle first

Tommie has always came across as a bitter dude. He didn't get along with Brook Berringer back in the day and as already posted on this thread, he has no patience. Regarding being critical of this team, he doesn't really have much room to talk, being that his head coaching stint was a failure..

If by leaving the building you mean hiding in the closet, then you're right.
Yes I know that is floating around, but is there actual proof of this. Has Frost said it ? Police? (police did show up to the apartment) Phillips? I honestly don't know. If there is proof, so be it. I just have never looked into it to find out if there is. I heard there was a witness in court who placed him leaving the building before Phillips arrived. No proof of this either.

Now it's a thread, somebody has asked for proof of a thing that happened 23 years ago.

We aren't talking about, my team is better than your team here. We are talking about a pretty big claim. If someone is throwing things out there, such as Frost hiding in a closet while a women is getting abused, it should be backed up with proof or not said.

Sure it is, and unless someone is willing to go on the record and say we made a mistake in hiring him, I think we should all be thankful for that. I'm really glad we don't have to deal with the talk about whether we should be firing a coach after one season.

Yes I know it has been around for a long long time. Just curious how people know it happened. If there was no proof. If there is no police report stating it or if Phillips, Frost, or the ex girlfriend said. It is just rumors

if kate would of stayed true to lp and not seduced frost, lp would of played his senior year at NU, and we would have beat texas and arizona state, and won the NC in 96.

so we would have had 2 back to back NC's, back to back. or in other words 4NC's in a row. 94, 95, 96, 97..and probably 2 more heismens!

so I feel thomas fraizer should have a problem with kate, and not frost.
and maybe lp and kate would of had a family now, and lp would be alive. and frost could had lp be running backs coach.

so lets remember folks to have dignity out there and not sleep round with whoever/whenever.

I have no idea what was said, or whether the criticisms were fair or unfair, but I'll go ahead and leap to the conclusion that Frazier has an ax to grind with Frost that goes back to their playing days. Because by Gawd this is my inalienable right as a message board poster!
