We’ve gotten better every week after Michigan as well so it’s not like these comments have come without substance.
We were better than Northwestern on Saturday, we just did not finish the game well, that sometimes happens in football. In sports you can't win a game in one play, but you can sure lose a game in one play, and we did that on Saturday.

We gave up 150 yds of passing in the 4Q. I’m sorry, we were dang competitive, but the claims of being ‘better’ make no sense...when you type it, or when CSF says it

NW's QB was better than our QB. That's the bottomline. They made plays at the end and we didn't.

I am not to sure about that. I sure would of liked to see Frost give the kid a chance to ice the game on the last possession in regulation. If your offense is your best asset use it to win the game. Didn't need to throw the ball but would have been nice to let him try and use his legs to pick up a first down (Instead of essentially kneeling the ball 3 times). Best defense for now needs to be the offense.................

Dude. We lost. We were NOT better.

So the only way to improve is to win? That makes no sense. The team was better vs northwestern than they were against any other team. Winning is not how you measure performance. Winning is a product of performance but is too dependent on other factors. All we can do is hope the team gets better and the winning will take care of its self.

That’s the difference. Frosty didn’t, and Fitz gave the keys to his QB all day long. And, I agree w/you regarding our best defensive strategy!

Yep, I keep running that series through my mind. If I know my defense is giving up 40 points a game, I certainly don't put it on their shoulders to win the game for you. They needed to be at least somewhat aggressive that series and end that damn game.

Football is a team sport. In the end, the individual awards and team stats do not matter. The object is to win the game. Failure to do that means that you lost, not won. We used to call those teams, losers. We're 0-6. What do you think that makes us?

Yes, I do think that Frost will get us to a better place. Not to difficult when you think of where we are at. But we should not be 0-6. That ultimately has to be on Coach Frost. Publicly, he takes responsibility. Privately he takes care of business.

Those are two different things. Yes, the goal is to win. But when you’re terrible, you can still improve as a team and work towards fixing being terrible. The outcome of games is determined by how good the teams are relevant to each other. So if you are better in week 6 than in week 2, you have a better chance to win. It is perfectly reasonable for us to say the team is getting better even though they didnt win. That’s a valid observation even if the outcome still isn’t what we want.

I don't think this team has improved from week 1 of the season

Colorado is a decent team

Has the offense improved appreciably since that game? -fewer turnovers I guess
Has the defense improved since that game?
Has special teams play improved since that game?
Has disciplined play and penalties improved since that game?

on balance I'm not sure it is obvious that we have improved when compared to the Colorado game - our first game, after which you expect to see demonstrable progress.

the NW game - the offense put up numbers - had 2 turnovers and couldn't ice the game when given the chance - pretty much the same as Colorado - 1 less turnover - less yards against NW despite playing against a lower ranked defense and having AM available the entire game

the defense was much worse
special teams offered nothing
penalties remained abysmal

I can't say we are better now than we were in week one
we played better than against Michigan and Purdue because we regressed so much compared to the Colorado game

we played a close game against a team that had a losing record but overall we have not improved from week 1

Then what you are saying is there are never upsets in sports because the best team always wins. Good to know, give Alabama the trophy right now.
Except,NU was favored, not the Huskers. NU has won something like 11 of their last 12 conference games. The best team did win on Saturday

So now being favored by vegas makes you a better team, then we win this Saturday, good to know.

Not necessarily. However, everyone in the world outside of some our fan base saw NU as the favorite. Heck, was flipping around at halftime...the studio guys ‘ nebraSka is putting a scare into northwestern’ . Favorites don’t put the scare into opponents.

Of course it makes sense, even if it doesn't make sense to you.

As I detailed above - how have we made progress since the Colorado game?

We regressed after our first game - which isn’t supposed to happen - heard after the CU game that we lost because we didn’t play Akron - that the most improvement occurs between game 1 and 2

Offense is about the same compared to CU
Defense is much worse
Sp teams and penalties remain poor

Unfortunately it was about 6 plays

My response wasn't about making progress since the CU game.
