Of course. One of our worst teams (Maryland) smacked the B12's best team down(Texas). It was definitely easier for you guys there.

Time to grow into your big boy pants that you got when you joined our league. If you can't handle it and want to take your ball home, then maybe that would be best for everyone.
Dude, mix in having sex.

These threads are so stupid they’re beyond reason. We’re 7 years into the conference and coming up on a decade since we announced the move. We’re not going back to the Big 12. Period. And Big Ten vs Big 12 is not the reason for our football woes. It’s years of crappy ADs and crappy coaches. Frost will turn this around in a big way, and once he does nobody will be here talking about going back to the Big 12.

And if we’re being honest, the future of the Big 12 beyond 2025 is still very much in doubt. If OU doesn’t extend their grant of rights and the rumors about Fox and the Big Ten Network looking into purchasing those Grant of Rights is true then the doubt around the future of the Big 12 is even more uncertain.

I get what you are saying and clearly NU is not leaving...but the idea that the Big 12 is still going to implode is not real. Us Huskers fans liked that idea but it isn't happening...well it might but if it does it will be the "end" of all the conferences as we know it and a total reshuffling.

I think it’s time to come home for NU to where it belongs.

Need to make it divisional where Ou and NU are playing every year.

Might have to be a “west” and an “east” to make that work. Only way NU regents would come back is if they play OU annually. That means Texas too. Would be sick and NU I guarantee would return to 8-11 wins again. The B1G has hurt recruiting and just gives you guys a weird aura.
If NU wants to play the teams we miss, all they have to do is make agreements to play regularly in our non-conference schedules. Absolutely no need to rejoin the Big12 to play those games again.

You rejoin bc you were one of the 3 figureheads of the conference and one of two in the Big 8. Period.

You’re Tied to a region that is not ours. Northern culture and the way of life is different and their recruiting is different which has hurt NU. It’s weird and just needs to end. We are the heartland / south-central US and always will be

Colorado should have been in the pac all along. Southern Missouri IS the south. The sec fits them. A&M belongs with Texas but they wanted to give them the middle finger which is understandable. NU is supposed to be in the big 12. Period

You’d be surprised. Once your regents have had enough they’ll make a call to Bowlsby. Bowlsby is about balance now. The big 12 didn’t get Texased as bad as NU thought. Bowlsby brings balance and Dodds is no longer running the big 12 office like he was, well he’s now retired. Time to come home.

I don’t see it. I’m sure the move to the B1G was good as far as money and academics are concerned, but as far as football goes, it has never made sense and we don’t fit, pus it is clear they don’t want us here anyway. But it is what it is, no turning back now
That's all in your head. I have many long time BIG fans throughout the Midwest and they were extremely happy when you joined the BIG.

I understand your sentiments and part of me agrees at some level about the Big 8. But, there is no way NU would rejoin, nor would I like to see it happen, as long as Texas remains there.

The fact was that Nebraska was indeed a figurehead, but your collective of schools chose to stick it to us whenever possible. You can't gloss over what Texas has done to your conference. What was once a great thing is forever ruined.

The B1G sucks, especially with football officiating, but it is wayyyyyy better than the Big 12. I'd rather NU give up athletics than rejoin the Texas Conference.

The move to the big 10 is a big part of our problem...we have had a steady decline in recruiting since we made the move...we are still barely top 25 in revenue, and we have no natural rivals anymore to create generational excitement. And the move to the big 10 was so nuts that I could see a move back to the big 12 in the next 10 years...especially as the T.V stuff evens out.
A move back to the Big 12 in the next 10 years ? Here's a thought to ponder: will that conference still be around. You guys were quick to condemn the Big 12 and Texas when you left and now this.

Respect is earned. Our volleyball team is respected because they are awesome. Our football team isn’t respected because it sucks.

No one in the Big 10 owes us anything for what Devaney and Osborne did decades ago, yet many of our fans still have an elitist mindset.

We need to earn our seat at the big kids table again.

lol, because picking a conference is all about volleyball. That doesn't even factor in why mention it?

I'm not saying it will happen but there is a fair amount of fan base in both Nebraska & Arkansas that wouldn't mind competing in the Big 12. Those two additions would make the Big 12 a really good league.

I think both Nebraska & Arkansas would do better in the Big 12 than their current leagues. Even if the tv money would be a little less with success comes better fundraising which could offset the difference if it was small.

I think if Nebraska is to do better in the B1G the league would need to do divisions something more like
Div A: PSU, Neb., Ia., Md., Rutgers, Wisconsin, Illinois
Div B: OSU, Mich., MSU, Mn., Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue

Nebraska needs more access to the states in the league that have more recruits. The problem is PSU wants to play OSU every year which maybe that game could be protected. The other issue is the PSU vs OSU/Mich. have both been monster ratings games each year (some of the highest in CFB) and I don't see the B1G wanting to interrupt that.

The Big12 was was/is so much weaker than the B1G. I didn’t think that was/would be the case when we switched. It’s blatantly obvious now.

It may sound weak but I want to go back to the softer conference. I miss winning games!

We aren’t losing games because the B1G is tough. We also lost to CU and Troy, after all.

Leaving the BIG 12 is not your problem. You're either a power or not and a small recruiting base doesn't help. Not the 70s, 80s or 90s anymore.
Nebraska got totally screwed when they went to the Big 10. Look at the schedules they had to play the first few years. Since the Big 10 went to 16 teams and Nebraska is now in the weak west there are no excuses. In a couple of years I think you will be competing again.

Who would you (and the country) rather watch us play,

Northwestern
Iowa
Purdue
Illinois
Minnesota
Rutgers
Indiana
Maryland
Wisconsin

Or

Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas
Texas Tech
West Virginia
Kansas State
Kansas
Baylor
Iowa State
TCU

I miss the Big 12 and the rivalries with the teams there and I think most of the country could care less about watching us play the Big Ten teams listed above.

You forgot Michigan, Michigan state, Ohio state and Penn State.

I didn't condemn...I hated the big 10 before we joined, and still hate it. Boring *** football, overall pretty poor football skill-wise, and no real rivalries. And how is Neb supposed to recruit the east coast? Dumb move by Dr. Tom in response to momentary Texas dominance. NU needed to act like they've been there before and wait it out. Instead they jump to "greener" pastures and have been treated like a step child.

I miss the Big 8. We had it made in that conference.

I only watch college FB and loathe the NFL. That said I almost find the B12 unwatchable too. When you have to score 70 points to win its no longer FB to me. Can't imagine anyone choosing to be in that conference.

First off Big Ten is not the reason we're suffering in football right now, and I will say this I do not miss the Big 12, but I do miss the Big 8. I miss the day trips for football and basketball to Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State etc. Just seems we had more in common with these schools and fans than those of the Big Ten and the rust belt schools.

CIC (since renamed) money for UNL is insane and only available since joining the B1G

Th econference payout to the athletic department couldn't be touched by the Big 12 either.

As a Hawkeye fan, I miss the old Big Ten when it was actually 10 teams. I also miss the Big 8, SWC, Pac 10 and everything else. ****, I just wish football was like the 80’s again. That includes all of these stupid rule changes as well.

I agree with this 100% but......

Its not going back.

Nebraska is not leaving the Big Ten....for now.

Football is changing so darn much, you can't even have a lineman tackle a QB anymore???!!! My goodness when did football agree with getting nuetered? And when it becomes totally illegal to make a hit on the QB for any position, I'm done watching football.

Until then, the conferences will restructure again, guys its not over with yet....the Big 12 will cease to exist at some point.

Until then I look forward to the day Nebraska is slicing teams up to order once again. Be it Old Big 8 or old Big 10 opponents or the SEC or the PAC or ACC......Kill em All!!!

GO BIG RED!!!

I’m not saying the Big 12 is going to implode. But the reality is that OU so far, has not granted their GOR to the Big 12 and the Big Ten and Fox have at the very least inquired about a purchase. You can’t tell me that OU and/or Texas leaving the Big 12 would not be devastating to that conference. Who knows, OU may reissue their GOR and the Big 12 may just continue on, but OU leaving is a far greater possibility than NU back to the Big 12. And if that scenario were to play out the Big 12 would certainly continue, but their status as a P5 conference would almost certainly come into question.

With 14 teams in the conference and scheduling Nebraska will very seldom play those 4 teams much less at home. The recruits that come in next year will not even play all 4 of those teams in the 4 years they are in school. Not a great way to create rivalries. I would rather play Oklahoma every year. Who cares about Iowa. I know Nebraska will never leave but it was a mistake.

Doesn’t matter time frame. It isn’t working. It was a worth effort for a fresh start bc NU wasn’t happy with how the big 12 was playing out mostly due to Texas.

So get back to where it should be, swallow some pride and go BEAT Texas on the field!

Only way regents would get back in is being in same division as OU tho.

Big 12 west

OU
NU
Texas
Tech
Baylor
Okie state

Big 12 east

KU
Kstate
ISU
WVU
TCU
Cincy/Houston/UCF

Your post is a pipe dream at best if not completely delusional. The NU regents aren’t going to consider going back to the Big 12 under any circumstance. It doesn’t matter what potential divisions would look like, it’s not happening. They’re not going to walk away from a $50M a year TV contract and the academic money that comes through the university due to Big Ten affiliation, just to play OU in football once a year.

I love the Big 10. Fans are just pissed because we've sucked at football since entering. That'll change in a few years. Lots of $ & playing in big time stadiums with great fan bases. Don't really get this obsession with the Big 12? Remember the refs sucked in College Station too!
We played in a BIG CCG which is more than a lot of other teams in the BIG can say.

Good. Go back there. Nobody in the B1G will miss you. I bet you do miss those sorry *** teams.

It’s comical to know that you people probably thought Texas Tech was better than Northwestern and Baylor was better than Purdue, but those automatic wins you guys used to count on to not be exposed for what you were during the crouch era never seem to come (and Miami eventually exposed that crouch team anyway.)

When it comes to academics didn't a few of the Big Ten presidents cast the deciding votes against Nebraska keeping our AAU status. What a great conference.

This crap is why we should have never come to this conference. And when we left yes Baylor and Texas Tech were much better than NW and Purdue, that has changed because Baylor and Tech both lost great coaches.

What I have is far from an elitist mindset, in fact I have posted about the need to move away from that mindset countless times. Understanding where we are and the work we have to do will be key in determining weather or not we can rebuild this program. However, it is not elitist to expect basic equal treatment in the conference. This is a good old boys deal and I don’t see it ever changing. It isn’t even subtle. I really doubt this is what we thought we were signing up for. And no I am NOT blaming the B1G for all our struggles, or making excuses, but admitting we are not wanted and not treated as equals, is not making excuses, it is stating the obvious. You can think two decades of mistakes ruined our football program and, at the same time, understand your new conference does not want you and prefers that you take a backseat to the original members. Ask PSU fans about this.
Mybe we need a scandal to fit in. Like a head coach that condones wife beating, or a kiddie fiddling coach, or a serial rapist trainer, or a coach that lets players die during practice.
