I called for a win today and missed, but I believe that by the time Martinez and Washington are juniors (2020 season) that Nebraska will appear in the B1G championship game. Next year will be a winning season and 2020 will see the rewards of these struggles.

Only if a bunch of 5 star offensive and defensive linemen decide to transfer to Nebraska.

I started working for the University of Colorado at the same time as Mike MacIntyre took over as coach. (He makes a lot more than I could dream of. Journalism < Football.)

Anyway, in his first year — 2013 — Mac immediately installed Sefo Liufau as QB in 2013, and the entire season was what we saw at Michigan and Wisconsin — a bad team getting blown out every week, unless they played other bad teams. In 2014 and 2015, the Buffs were clearly better, but they lost in every conceivable manner, including two double-overtime losses and other nailbiters. Their only wins in 2014 were at home against a BAD Hawaii team and at UMass, who was also very bad. In 2015, they beat CSU, UMass, Nicholls State and Oregon State.

It wasn't until Sefo's senior year — that the Buffs put it all together and started winning. They finished 10-2 before losing the conference championship game and their bowl game.

I don't think it will take that long for Nebraska to win, but that fourth year, should Martinez stick around that long, is one where Nebraska could emulate CU's success.

Personally, I think we finish with wins against Minnesota, BCU and Illinois, and I'm not counting out a win against MSU if we gain the sort of confidence that comes from winning.

Next year, just win more than we lose, and in 2020, start competing with Wisconsin, Iowa and Purdue for the West title. Win it 2021.

Next year our schedule is easy but we’re terrible. By the time we get good, our schedule will be tougher. Matinez’ 4th year will feature a clash agsinst OU and King Bookie.
