What is this new kicking style all about? I don't think he was ever a great punter, but at the end of last season he had some good kicks.

I'm a little confused as to what is going on. He was instructed to rugby punt in which he's terrible at. Now we put in a kid that did a really good job last night but he was punting normal style. Regardless, we need someone in there that can punt it deep and not directly at a player. Whoever can do that job should get the nod.

Lightbourne has the much stronger leg, I think, but he doesn't show up most games for whatever reason. May not see him in at punter again.

Nebraska never use to give out scholarships to punters and we had good results for many years. Don’t understand wasting a scholly on someone who sucks at punting ie Lightbourn

I think doing both the kickoff and punting could be affecting him. Could be the reason we are 0-5.Eek

I know that we don't hand these to punters but in Lightbourn's case, there's a lot of sensitivity. The kid was forced into playing early due to the most unfortunate circumstance. Having said that, I give him a pass for having a scholly until his eligibility runs out.

I'm okay with that as long as he's *not* punting. When you go for it on 4th and 11 because your punter is so bad that kid shouldn't be punting. At least we, hopefully, found a punter last night.

I will say Isaac Armstrong did pretty darn good for the first time in a game, punting that is, and probably had no intention of that

I was confused by the rugby thing as well, has he ever done that in the past? I didn't really think Lightbourn had been that terrible up to that botched rugby kick. Not that he was GREAT, but he wasn't horrendous. I thought maybe the rugby kick incident gave him the yips or something.

Rugby style punting isn't his forte. I couldn't understand it either. Not sure if it was his idea or was told to. In any case, it wasn't working.

He's not playing well right now (and last night seemed like just about rock bottom), but he was on the preseason Ray Guy watch list. I think saying he in general "sucks at punting" is a bit overstated.
Yeah. At least he didn’t fall down while attempting a rugby style punt last night.

We currently have 3 specialists on scholarship. 1 kicker 1 punter and 1 longsnapper.

Our scholarship longsnapper is no longer handling longsnapping and if Armstrong is the new #1 punter that means 2 of those 3 scholarship specialists are now the backup to a walkon.

Don't sweat it, with all the guys quitting the team there are still like 37 extra scholarships lying around.

Lightbourne has really had the yips at times. Feel bad for the guy but if he can't get it done they need to find somebody who can.

Lightleg sure as hell ain’t helping us win. Don’t think our punting could be any worse.

Seems like he just needs some basic coaching and direction. Not sure DeWitt is much of a kick game guru...
