And yet never seen this many opponents seem to not get many penalties. apparently we only play angels and altar boys
Well, UCF was 4th in the nation in most penalties per game last year - they averaged over 8 per game.

I'm just telling you that the coaching needs to take some blame too... You can't blame every loss on the refs can you? Blame all around starting with players, coaching and a poor defense. I see a lot of promise in some of your young players though...Coach them up!

Yes it is coaching. When almost every player on the team is committing stupid penalties or making dumb plays constantly, that's a coaching issue. It isn't some statistical anomaly that we have the ncaa's dumbest players collected on our team or that the refs only see our penalties and not the other team's.

We mostly beat ourselves. Combination of lack of discipline, lesser talent, stupid mistakes, and not using AM effectively to his strengths (and not teaching him to go down before he gets creamed). This game should have been very close though. So yes, coaching is certainly to blame as well.

I think you are right. The "block in the back" on the KO return was bogus as well.
the missed ones on the opposition are what drive me crazy. they call us for a facemask. two feet away, our guy's jersey is being stretched like a hulk hogan tshirt. obvious targeting on a hit on morgan. facemask missed. it's the same **** every week though.

I agree so why are we repeatedly getting penalized? Do the refs hate Frost or Nebraska? Is it because our record makes it an easy target to charge us those penalties?
Purdue and Nebraska has about the same number I think. The refs were old and fat and threw flags so they could catch their breath.

Well. Surprise. That is part of the problem this year. Falls on the head coach. Kind of a no brainer.
This was the first week I "understood" the penalties. The block in the back calls were bad calls IMO, really could have been let go.
Holding was happening because our OL and TE just couldn't handle their guys and Martinez hangs onto the ball way too long.
Other than that I saw one dumb PI on Jackson and a couple of facemasks/hands to the face.

The coaches are not out there playing for these guys. I fault to coaches for much in this mess but not sure if penalties are one of them. These guys are not just out their committing penalties because they feel like it or the coaches tell them to. Minus the personal foul penalties all other are because kids are not doing what they are suppose to and panic. Holding calls, are because our O line isn't talented enough to stay on a block for more than 1 sec. They know they are getting beat so they have to hold the guy. Pass interference our guy is getting burned or out of position, so he has to grab or hold the wr . Also right now every ref in the country knows we are a heavy penalized team, so they are paying extra attention. As we saw last night a team like wisc get more leniency.
Also penalties are not why we are losing game. Teams like Maryland, FL, Mich, Ohio st are right at that 8-10 range like we are. We are losing games because our Offense puts up 500 yards of offense every game but can't seem to score more than 3 tds and our D can't keep anyone under 40.
Somehow a ref can spot a penalty in a mass of humanity when NU is guilty, but Wiscy could get away with **** in the wide open.

I listened to the Cal game last night and they had penalties just like us. Their offensive line gave the game away on penalties. Hard to watch in our case and hard to listen to in Cal's case.
Tied for 35th, but those are just semantics I guess.
