We're movin on up. Teams looking good. Didn't get to see the game except for the last half of the 4th set but coming out of the time out after 2 lexi sun errors, she and the team looked really good.

Ok I'm not edumacated on volleyball. Why do they line up in a row at times when serving? Is this to disguise the defense or offense?

And why does the player nearest to the net have her hands up when they do that?

Funny thing. They were really bragging how great of a venue illinois was when we played them. Heck their prime seats aren't filled tonight for 2 top 10 teams. Not impressed

The team is required to “rotate” each time they score a point off the opponent’s serve. Based on the rotation, players have to line up in certain positions relative to each other. The serving team will sometimes get in a line like that so that they can all quickly move to their normal playing positions, rather than the positions dictated by the rotation, as soon as the server puts the ball in play. The receiving team generally doesn’t have time to do that, so they will sometimes play out of their normal positions at the beginning of a rally.

The player at the net... that’s just kind of the “ready position”. In theory they can screen the vision of the receiving team a little bit, but there are rules about doing it actively.

Thanks! So instead of rotating clockwise they can just line up and then pick their positions, once served, instead of moving to the next spot over?

Nebraska wanted to move the VB game from a night start to 4pm given that the FB game kickoffs at 7pm. Both teams had to agree, and when asked, Minnesota said no.
Yeah and that clearly pissed off Cook. I am sure Minnesota is hoping it holds attendance down. Not on your life. They are foolish if that is their reasoning. Plus, it will just give our team and fans an even bigger motivation to kick their asses.
Bad move on their part. Gutless and classless.

I'm going to Lincoln this Saturday and will have my daughter. I'm thinking it would be nice to take her to a volleyball game.

That’s right. You won’t see it as much in the back row except with the setter, but you’ll notice that the players in the the front row tend to attack/block from their “natural” positions (outside/left, middle, or opposite/right) regardless of where they are in the rotation.

Yeah, not cool. I had been thinking the Minn coach was the ideal replacement when Cook retired, but might have to rethink that...

I thought maybe Minnesota played in afternoon so I could understand if they didn't want to move it up. They play at 11:00 am. After thought, Cook probably wouldn't have asked to move the time if he thought it would conflict Minnesota. How do you ask someone to change time if it benefits you and harms them.

Won't change the attendance figures.
