Just stop! This garbage isn't remotely entertaining. We are going to get ****-stomped all night long and be a dismal 5 - 0.

I am truly blessed, my mom gave me the gift of ignoring reality when it suits me. In her final days, she'd still talk about painting her bedroom, I loved it. I'm adopting her philosophy for the rest of the season, and not the painting of the bedroom part :)

It's a good defense mechanism. Being able to remove ourselves from this mess is a good thing.

I remember thinking way back that Bill Callahan actually did us a favor. We had been so wrapped up with the success of this football program for so many years (decades actually) that all the losses gave us some perspective. Life doesn't have to be a case of walking around 24/7 with your bung hole completely puckered because your favorite team is stinking it up.

Every other fanbase has had to learn it. It was finally our turn to learn that life doesn't have to and shouldn't revolve around a football program. It's OK to take a break from it and feel OK that you are doing so.

I share your optimism, but just don’t see it this year. Hoping we are competitive in the game, and see some growth on both O and D.

We will have to play four quarters of clean football to have a shot against Wisconsin, at night, in their place. We have not done that yet this year. So our track record says this will be another loss where we show flashes here and there, but then shoot ourselves in the foot.

But if we do finally put together a complete game, avoiding turnovers, stupid penalties, and major brain-fart blown assignments, we have a chance to win this because of our playmakers on offense.

But I am pessimistic. Frost keeps saying that there are a lot of guys on this team who are warriors who fight to the end. Yesterday showed that to be true. But he has also said there are lingering bad habits that the coaches can't seem to eradicate. He intimated in his presser that maybe some personnel changes would be coming. I hope so. You can't say that there are some players with bad habits, and then still let those guys play.

Benching Jackson was a huge start in that direction. I also think we should bench Bell and let some of the other guys behind Ozigbo tote the rock. So far, Bell is a bust. And if I see Young starting this week at linebacker I am going to scream.

All we have to do is stop the run. Their QB is not impressive. Have the DB's up on the receivers to take away short passes. We got this! Frost's first win will be in Madison at night. Then we start rolling.
Man, I like your optimism, but this team is broken and I don't think you can fix this mess in one year maybe 2 years. I feel for Coach
Frost what can he do if players continue to make bone headed mistakes and can't replace with better players. All we can do as fans is hope this situation gets better and straighten out in the near future with better recruiting to build quality depth like the more successful program have currently.

We need better recruiting. Exactly. We need top level athletes. We have a solid start this cycle but need to finish strong. But our ****** season is really going to test Frost and staff’s ability to recruit at that level

Very true, that's why this is a five year process. Case in point Penn State brought in James Franklin and it took him several years to get the players he needed to be successful. Penn State usually has had better results in recruiting than us in the last 5 years. I think Coach Frost can get there, but it will take some time.

Yet Nebraska couldn't beat a team with less talent than Wisconsin at home. :confused:o_O

That would really get the team going if they could pull out an upset like that.

Just be careful, the Cletii might come for you and let you know that you're a bad fan for even daring to expect Nebraska to be competitive and god forbid, win a game.

I’ve seen weird things, like Old Diminion beating Va Tech. But our defense is not good enough to hold an opponent under 30 and our offense is far from developed to help the defense out. So it’s a bad combo. And our special teams, they play for the other team.

Bench Jackson for what, Eric Lee? I think Jackson has been doing ok for the most part. I actually think the corners have been one of the few bright spots on this defense. I agree with everything else you said though.

If we get a 24 point head start I can get on board with this. If not, I’ve seen nothing out of the o-line and d-line that makes me think they won’t completely fold once Wiscy punches them in the mouth. Oh, and the nightmare of Dedrick Young “trying” to tackle Taylor.

Unfortunately, losing to a pretty bad BYU team, probably hurts our chances at an upset here. Wisconsin, probably won't lose focus like that again.

Could it happen? Yes, if we play a near perfect game and they make a lot of mistakes. But predicting that will happen based on what we’ve seen so far this year is ridiculous.

This Wisconsin team is more beatable than previous years. Iowa had them on the ropes and would have beat them if not for special teams blunders. But this Nebraska team doesn't beat Wisconsin this year. Wisconsin is going to rack up a lot of yards on the ground.

I think that it can test them to recruit but they can also sell early opportunities. Recruiting is selling a vision and dream and I think he can do that and I think high level kids are going to want to play for them

Our current play is not due to talent. We do not need top talent to be competitive at home against Purdue. If that is the answer we are screwed.

This team did not believe they could win at home against a 1-3 Purdue team. We have no chance at Wisconson it will be over at half.

I do not think some players on this team can be coached up anymore. I would play the ones that show they want to be out there regardless of talent level

How has that vision/dream recruiting scenario been working for teams like Rutgers/Kansas the last 20-30 years? They have only had a couple of coaches that could make that sales pitch actually work.

Like everyone else...I am hoping that Coach Frost is the right messenger/salesman to convince difference makers to come to Lincoln and help rebuild the Nebraska Football Program.

Those programs that you are mentioning don’t have to offer what we do. If we turn into those programs we have more issues than head coach. I stated this earlier under the last administration we were destined to be Minnesota

Agree. If we can shutdown Taylor (big if), I think we win this game fairly easy. We can score points & not sure Wis can keep up if we hold Taylor to 100 yards or less.

Maybe I’m too optimistic but this feels like Frost’s first win coming Saturday.

I get the staying positive thing. But this team isn't losing because of a couple bad break here and there. Last second field goals ect. This team is bad in every aspect of the game and pretty well have bee the last 3 games. This team is getting worse from weak to weak, not better. This team is bad, very bad. 1 week is not going to fix this much bad against a very good Wisc team, at home, at night. Don't get me wrong, if we win. It would be huge, and would probably start the swing in the other direction for us. I would prepare yourself for a woodshed beating my friend.

Nebraska will beat Bethune Cookman. That is all.
Are you sure about this? lol jk We are bad, won’t beat Wisconsin, and could possibly lose every game this year. Talent wise I think we are better than our record indicates but we are our own worst enemy. We are just not ready this year and we are too sloppy to beat anyone except maybe Bethune Cookman. We implode at critical times and I don’t know why it happens over and over. Not once has this team showed any discipline or resolve. We are at least two years away from beating lower to middle tier teams like Purdue. 3-5 years away from even competiting with big boy teams. It will happen though. Just going to take time.

Wisconsin is a Time of Possession monster. If you doubt it, check their numbers for the season … or the last few seasons for that matter. IIRC, they average right around 35:00 TOP vs.. 25:00 TOP for opponents. Ball control football, power run, and play action passes to their TEs. They will run the ball, eat clock, and grind out 1st downs. 5,6,7 minute drives are common.

Hornibrook is completing about 64% of his passes. Not many incompletes to stop the clock. At Wisconsin, a quick score is NOT part of the game plan. Their game plan is to wear down defenses with their All-Bi10 offensive linemen. Taylor will get around 25 carries.

What this means: Nebraska will get less possessions than any other game this year. You have to make the most of each possession. 3 & outs are killers. Punt it and next thing you know most of the quarter is gone before you get the ball again.

For Nebraska to win, the Huskers need to sustain drives in order to give the defense a break. Frankly, they will need a couple of key TOs. Put Wisconsin in 3rd & long situations., Hornibrook has been known to throw INTs.

More than anything, this will be a test for the defense and whether they can slow a power running attack. We'll see how far Nebraska's strength and conditioning program has come so far under Frost.
