Interesting comment from Tanner Farmer

Because we've got a young QB and a line inexperienced in the offense. It takes time to process the information and get it relayed. I understand what Farmer said and it makes sense with what we saw on video. It will come with more time in the offense IMO.
100% agree; however, I would like to see Farmer at Center for more than a series a game. I wish he had got some reps in the second half last week.

Conrad can make the line calls but they are ALL new in this system. As I posted in another thread, Zatecha said that it took the pipeline TWO YEARS to fully get down a change in blocking philosophy that Milt and Tom installed. Same staff, same offense, same players, just a switch from man to zone blocking schemes. We have a new staff AND a completely new play book and schemes. Some problems should be expected but I think we'll see improvement this year and even more next year. This stuff takes time.

Exactly. the "hit them harder" approach is stupid to say the least.

In HS when we implemented our blocking rules (a very simplified version of what Tenipor was using at the time) it was semi-zone blocking with a lot of pulling and trapping. The first thing we learned (and saw in practice) was that a lot of what looked like pure power by Nebraska's line was really intricate design and coordination that led to the right guy hitting the right defender at the right place.. and even then the back or QB could make a wrong read and screw it all up.

Frost's blocking rules are simple sounding, but it takes time for the line to be comfortable and to act without thinking about it. We are seeing a lot of coordination issues so far.

Definitely going to take more time than I had thought. I had hoped that we were going to inflict some pain this year with what I perceive as our improved physical presence. I still think my perception is correct, but horribly underestimated the time the transition would take mentally. Great insight. Thanks.

I suggest better listening skills then. Coaches and players do interviews every week. You can find them anywhere online including on Youtube by HOL. A number of times the coaches have taken responsibility, blame or what they have to work on. Player interviews have also attested to that.

So you are wrong, but not only wrong, also lazy in not checking something so trivial to find out. I think it is fair to question any of your statements concerning the team. I'm sure the same kind of laziness and sloppiness applies to your analysis there as well.

Great. I'm glad the coaches take some responsibility. I did check plenty of these videos. But I don't have all day to check them all. Nothing cries out laziness like simplistic comments like "block someone" or "hit someone".

It would be great if we could get some big leads and get our second team OL in this year. Especially because for 2019, we have to replace our middle three.

I don't recall a bad snap so far from Conrad.
Good point and IF I recall correctly we had to reach for one when Tanner was there when Conrad went down. The MOST important job if you're just big enough to get in your guy's way is to get the ball to the QB in Frost's offense..

You don't think the most important job is to make the right line calls? Also, I don't recall a bad snap by Tanner but do recall that we scored on both series that he played Center.

At times I've heard of teams using an experienced guard to make the calls. IF your QB is constantly jumping to catch snaps or scooping em off the turf, you're screwed with Frost's offense. Timing is everything. It won't matter what the line call is if the QB doesn't get the ball in a consistently good spot.

True...but as I said, we scored on both series that he played Center so apparently the snaps were not a problem.
