Or he can tell Austin and Frost they have give the o-line a bit more time to make their calls. Especially since they're only three games in with a new staff and system. Do you really think Scott Frost would totally dismiss Farmer and Frost?
I think this should have been called by either Conrad or Martinez. Didn't listen but going against an unbalanced line should have resulted for a call by a player on the field, I would think. You either motion or shift, or have a free runner and change the play too the weakside. They'll do better in the future. I don't know the internal workings, but what they're saying makes sense
They didn't know their assignments in certain situations. The defense didn't either. Hopefully a lot of teaching goes on this week.
At about 1:05.
This must be the play in question. It seems without out a doubt that Jaimes glanced just for a millisecond to see #29. So his man beat him inside. Foster also whiffed on his man. But there is no doubt #29, unblocked flew to the QB. I'll add that I am guessing for the moment that the o-line splits are not small. So even a call to shift a man left may have been difficult.
Also, can you imagine being Tanner and having to listen to this constant badgering all year long.
Stop badgering. Go write a blog or a news column. Win a Pulitzer.
They stick microphones in these kids faces like they have nothing else to do with their lives, which they don't.
Get a hobby. Go hunting. Watch the sunset. No wonder these players get agitated and burned out.
Agree, why tf are we interviewing these kids. Interview the coaches and leave it at that. These guys will be gone in a fews years and forgotten, let them live their lives, play their hearts out, and move on All these weird old men with the microphones manipulating them for titbits is weird as hell. Frosty needs to make players off limits and do the talking himself for a while.

I think that was actually a great play by michigan,Farmer shouldn't be blamed for the tipped pass.
That missed TD is on Martinez. He should have been patient and thrown it deeper. Nice script.
But why does it have to go to **** after that, instantly? I don't get it.
I think that was actually a great play by michigan,
I don't really blame farmer or martinez for that one
People say hit somebody, but you know what your talking about. I just wanted to say, I'm listening.
If Nebraska would have thrown big $$$ at Ed Orgeron (sp?) as Recruiting Director now HC at LSU we would have another National Championship.

We may be playing "up tempo", but it didn't look any faster to me than many other teams. So why can't they get the calls made?
Right at the beginning he says the o-line did not get blocking calls out to account for a defense overload on one side of the line. Because he felt they were hurrying to stay up tempo.
We need a media blackout, enough talking. Let them talk after they win a couple of games. I'm tired of hearing the BS.
I could be wrong but I do seem to recall Frost saying the usual coach speak about "needing to coach better" after each of our losses.Three losses and I have yet to hear the coaches take some blame. Any. A crumb.
Why the phuck does this sound so damn complicated?
Just hit somebody!
Redirect that and make the call to put somebody on their ***.
These guys are making a mountain out of a molehill.
They also need to get laid.
OL play is about the most complicated thing in the field. The big uglies also tend to be among the smartest guys on the field (or should be)
Three losses and I have yet to hear the coaches take some blame. Any. A crumb.
Truth is, just because you haven’t heard it doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. Many others have attested that the coaches have pointed the thumb.Three losses and I have yet to hear the coaches take some blame. Any. A crumb.
Nope it's easy, just hit somebody. Doesn't matter if you decide to go rogue and hit the wrong guy. Don't let the guy on the end go unblocked, it's is much better to let one of the LBs come in untouched or the DL lined up in the A gap.
Some people need to take a refresher on offensive football.
Then we have the board's version of Otis from the Andy Griffith Show, coming on here, talking to himself for a bit each evening.
Then there is the power football, minimal passing and no option guy. ha ha ha
The problem is I don't believe we are going up tempo. No where near what UCF was.It isn't complicated. But there is a choice that has to be made. Slow down the tempo a little or keeping going three and out. FWIW, I'm all in on up tempo.

interested in your opinion about tempo .. I realize this staff wants to play fast tempo and I understand the potential benefits of his approach. It seems to me, however, that you should be able to mix tempos and be able to slow the speed of play when it is advantageous to do so - ie running the clock when ahead late in the 4th quarter.
I acknowledge you lose the advantage of not allowing the defense to substitute, get set. etc when you slow things down, but in some situations you aren't benefiting from an uptempo pace.

Geaux tigersDo you know how journalism works? Writers get quotes interviewing people so they can "go write a blog or a news column" and maybe "win a Pulitzer."
Interfacing with the media comes with the territory of being a big time college athlete. If you can go head to head with Rashan Gary, Olive Sagapolu, or AJ Epenesa, you can probably field questions from the OWH.
Don't want to be "badgered?" Go play at Doane or Benedictine.
I suggest better listening skills then. Coaches and players do interviews every week. You can find them anywhere online including on Youtube by HOL. A number of times the coaches have taken responsibility, blame or what they have to work on. Player interviews have also attested to that.Three losses and I have yet to hear the coaches take some blame. Any. A crumb.
Because we've got a young QB and a line inexperienced in the offense. It takes time to process the information and get it relayed. I understand what Farmer said and it makes sense with what we saw on video. It will come with more time in the offense IMO.We may be playing "up tempo", but it didn't look any faster to me than many other teams. So why can't they get the calls made?
Conrad can make the line calls but they are ALL new in this system. As I posted in another thread, Zatecha said that it took the pipeline TWO YEARS to fully get down a change in blocking philosophy that Milt and Tom installed. Same staff, same offense, same players, just a switch from man to zone blocking schemes. We have a new staff AND a completely new play book and schemes. Some problems should be expected but I think we'll see improvement this year and even more next year. This stuff takes time.Tell me where I am confused. Same OL as last year pretty much. Last year it was all coaching and this year OL is made up of horrible talentless players. Okay I think I got it !
And no I do not think the coaching last year was very good. And no I do not think this year is all lack of talent. Right now this team needs a Center and a player than can actually make line calls. Decker would have made a huge difference as he was a good center and a LEADER out there. He was the biggest loss of all.
Wow, didn't realize that. Thanks for the info. Yeah we seems very slow paced.I would tend to disagree a little. The number of plays is not that far off of what UCF ran. In 2016 UCF ran right at 75 plays per game, in 2017 that number was 71. Nebraska is averaging 70 plays per game this season so far.
To me, it looks slower because of the run/pass mix. Nebraska is running the ball 62 or 63% of the time, those plays typically appear to be at a slower pace. Mostly because the average run is about 4 yards, where the average pass is about 7-8 yards. Things just look more hurried. IMHO
Well one of the reasons we're averaging so few plays is that we've had a dearth of first downs with a BUNCH of 3 and outs. IMO we moved the ball much more effectively at UM when we went tempo and that was certainly true against Troy.Wow, didn't realize that. Thanks for the info. Yeah we seems very slow paced.
