Boy I would love to see him get some playing time. From what I have seen out of our tight ends, their blocking ability is suspect thus far. All we have heard about Cam is his strength and ability to block. A solid blocking TE could really help to solidify our line play. Its not like our TEs are otherwise lighting it up as receivers.

Do we know where he is practicing? Some question earlier as to what position he would play. Does he have the frame to eventually play oline?

What’s this tight end thing you speak of?

Cam Jurgens will either be TE, DE or LB. oline is completely out of the question, that’s never even been a consideration. But TEs group and the defense groups are fighting over him. We will see what and how this plays out.

This season is gone. Let’s not sacrifice the future by playing true freshmen that need time to develop and won’t help us win games now. Losing 5th years on kids with potential isn’t worth the minimal improval they’d have this year (if any)
If they're at all able to help us win, they need to play now. We need as much help as we can get just to get a few wins and not completely lose this team. If Frost loses the team this year, it's not going to be much easier to get things back next year.

Disagree. And so would frost

For me it's all about next year. I think most fans would argue that we have such deep issues right now that it's dumb to think that we could be competitive next year, but that schedule looks so much better than this year. Guys like Jurgens, I'd try to get meaningful playing time towards the end of the year without burning the RS. Whether we win 2 games or 4 this year is going to be irrelevant if we're 8-1 when Wisconsin visits next year.

This year matters. 5 wins sounds much better than 2 wins. Hell, we already have commits coming out saying "I believe this staff will get it turned around." Imagine what non-committed players may be thinking especially when other coaches will be getting in their ear. Recruiting is not going to be easy.

Exactly, you never throw a season away. You have to keep in mind you are still recruiting guys. Getting guys to sign up on a 2 win program gets pretty difficult.

Fine, I'll agree up to a certain point. That point is where you sacrifice the 5th year of good players in order to get from 2 wins to 5. Not worth it. They'd better be vastly better players right now in order to play more than the 4 games.

In my opinion, tight end might be the least impactful position on the field. I would much rather have one of our highest rated recruits play LB if he's comfortable there.

You don’t know frost. He doesn’t care about redshirts. He wants to win now.

I had a feeling when they kept talking about his size and power and blocking that he was gonna end up on the OL someday. I'm sure he'd make a nice DE but Nebraska hasn't had a really good center since.......Raiola?

I was wondering if anyone paid attention to the broadcast. Kugler said that Frost mentioned they are looking at moving Jurgens to center next year.
Yep heard that and was wondering how the kid and his family feels about that. I would imagine he’d have to put on a significant amount of weight and it may derail what he viewed his future NFL potential as. I guess it’s not about what’s best for the kid but more about the team. But if he can play the position we definitely need a better option.

If he has a better chance to play and have success, I’m sure he’s all for it. Where do you see him with NFL potential, as a TE?

Not sure he has the measurables to be an NFL tight end. But if he can put on 20-30 pounds and keep his athleticism, he could be a hell of a center.

I don’t know. It was more of a question of where he sees himself. I saw him in person once and he has the build of a college TE or a LB.

Caputo was good when healthy, but Dom was probably the last upper tier center we had

Maybe Hickman? It been bad at that position for a long time.

And this is based on what? You have no idea what he feels about the move.
That was my original question. How does the kid feel. I’m not assuming anything. My last statement was a general statement about college ball being about the team and not the individual. No fight to pick here.

Especially in Frost's scheme, we need interior linemen who can pull and who can get downfield to block
Bingo. I am not sure how many times we pulled Saturday but watching a little of it again today the one time I remember that we pulled 2 linemen, Foster barely got to the corner and the play was over. AND we got a flag for holding

Honestly, does the kid have the wheels to be a NFL TE? The pass rushing ability to be a NFL LB or DE? Really?
