First week surprises

I was watching Big Red Wrap Up in passing tonight and heard something interesting. Sean Callahan seemed to allude that Nebraska was not super impressed with where Breon Dixon was at this point and may bring him in a few games and ultimately utilize the four game redshirt rule this year with him. Another interesting thing I heard was from my uncle. He said he had heard Mick was kicking Cole Conrads butt so bad in the last scrimmage and Gebbia had to pick up several snaps off the ground, that they are giving Tanner Farmer a look at center as has been floated already. I guess we will all know come Saturday. I am chomping at the bit.

Any other surprises you all suspect will occur?

Cole Conrad struggling at center isn't exactly breaking news

How come Gebbia seems to be the only one who has to deal with low snaps from center? People said the same thing during the spring game, but I saw differently. The snaps were fine, I think Gebbia has a problem with dropping the ball when it's snapped to him.

Has nothing to do with that. That's something I noticed right away and probably mentioned it in the post spring game discussion. From what I saw, the snaps didn't look that bad, Gebbia just mishandled them. That's something that could be easily fixable or might be something he struggles with throughout his entire career. Don't know. But I was defending a guy who's taken a lot of **** from Husker fans, who's actually on the team right now, and is working his *** off everyday and earned a scholarship for this team.

Calm down Mr. Conrad..... Your son isn't very good but he'll have to do.

The reason, if you must know, is because HCSF himself said that Gebbia was the victim of several bad snaps.

But why believe him, huh? What does he know? Probably wasn’t even there to see it. He just made it up.

You are killing it, if your goal is to become the most idiotic poster.

The OP said he was picking the snap up off the ground. That doesn’t sound like he bobbled a snap that was waist high... he picked it up off the ground.

Most centers who snap it at a height of 4 inches off the ground don’t do so well. But you’re defending him here and saying he’s fine, the problem is Gebbia.

Unbelievable.

Until it happens in a game, then it will be Conrad's fault.

Maybe there's a reason Breon Dixon barely played last year for an Ole Miss defense that ranked 115th in the nation (worse than Diaco's defense).

Yeah he picked it up off the ground because he dropped the snap. Most coaches will defend their quarterbacks, especially one that's in the heat of a battle for a starting position. That's why a coach will say he was dealing with bad snaps instead of putting the blame directly on Gebbia. Why is it only Gebbia that's dealt with bad snaps in scrimmages and the Spring Game? The rest of the qb's haven't had nearly as many issues.

Go ahead and watch the Spring game again. Some of the snaps Gebbia was dropping were waist high.

So OP who has an uncle who actually witnessed terrible snaps don’t do anything for you huh? His uncle must have bad eyesight. It has to be Gebbia’s fault, since the fool up and transferred.

Got it.

Interested to see some of the New players play and how some of the older players have been developed.

He said he heard it from his uncle who heard it from someone else. Has nothing to do with Gebbia transferring. I thought Gebbia had trouble handling snaps well before he transferred when I saw it in the Spring game.

Can't wait to see JoJo. Really hope he can stay healthy. To come back from 2 acl's and to be on the 2 deep? Kid is tough as hell, and obviously very talented.

My bad on the secondhand stuff… I didn’t read it close enough. I guess I question why with every post you have in the last couple of days you feel it necessary to bag on Gebbia every chance you get. You have to admit, it is possible that Conrad is just getting his lunch handed to him. Maybe it isn’t because Gebbia sucks.

Like I said, I wasn't bagging on him in this thread. And I haven't been near as much as some people have bagged on Conrad. It's just something I noticed during the Spring game is that Gebbia has trouble handling snaps. Which if that's the main issue he has, that's a good thing as it should be easily fixable.

To the earlier points, I was pointing out that I heard Conrad was getting his *** handed to him, and was having trouble snapping the ball. I heard they will be quick to move Farmer to center. We will see if the snaps are a Gebbia thing or a Conrad thing. The physical part should be evident on its own.

I'm surprised the coaching staff didn't shift that direction earlier if Conrad is really having that much trouble at the position. What is it that two coaching staffs have seen now in Conrad in trying to make him a Center when I thought he did a pretty decent job at the tackle spot?

Jesus dude, your being pathetic. Conrad hasn’t been the best center and if they say he had some bad snaps, then he had some bad snaps. Sure maybe Gebbia bobbled some before, at some point in time. But I don’t ever remember hearing Frost, Walters or Our QB coach talk about Gebbia having bobble hands or issues catching the long snaps. I trust these coaches and they never once said it was an issue with Gebbia or any of our QBs. Now in this case, Mick was smoking Conrad and the dude sucked...yet again. Conrad maybe sucks at center. Move on bro.

It’s pretty dam simple, they’d DIDNT say Gebbia got the snap and dropped the ball...but saying the QB had to pick up off the ground means the center sent the QB a grounder or something like that. Conrad just sucks. Then the Gebbia thing makes no difference anyways, dudes gone.

So it's ok to say Conrad sucks and he's still on our team but it's not ok to question the performance of a qb who abandoned his team a week before the season?

If Conrad isn’t doing the job at center, people talk about that...Gebbia, by all accounts was talented. He sucks in a different way.
He may very well be a talented qb but still struggle with controlling snaps, like he did in the Spring game.

And besides, questioning a person’s performance is one thing. Calling them selfish Aholes is something else entirely.

Yes it is which is why I refrained from doing it in this thread until you came along attacking me and Conrad.

he really wasn't very good...beat out by mr. pick 6 and a true frosh coming off of two devastating shoulder injuries to his throwing arm. He is also 40-50 pounds light than the standard NFL qb, and is not a dual threat qb...I think he would look great in Lubbick or at washington state...won't play anywhere else.
