With limited reps recently in fall camp, if we get a sizable lead will Bunch be put in to get him live reps to better prepare him as a backup and to avoid a needless injury to Martinez? The same can be said that Martinez needs the experience but with the current situation keeping him healthy seems far more important.

I think he is going to get at least a quarter of work on Saturday.

Bunch will be clean up crew only. Martinez needs all the playing he can get early on. That way when the BIG10 hits, hopefully he will be better groomed up. I agree Bunch needs some time to “JUST IN CASE”...I’m crossing my fingers Martinez doesn’t go down this year
Again, as a guy that has coached football for a long at time...I just can't see taking AM out of the game at all...this game will be more valuable for him than any other game of the year or his career probably. I would want him to start it and finish it. I would want him taking that snap in the victory formation.

Bunch will get snaps when the game is put away. It would be nice to see him the fourth quarter of several games as that will mean NU is doing well.
I legitimately cannot remember the last time we were able to play our backups in a blowout.... I think the backups got in against Illinois last year but maybe just to kneel. Maybe the season opener in 2016? Southern Alabama in 2015? Riley never really put teams away... he was such a nice guy he always liked to give the other team a chance at the end
I don't know much on bunch, but I know he was 3rd on the QB list. So I think getting him as many live reps as possible would be very helpful. Lets hope we can keep Martinez healthy and we won't have to really worry about it for the year.
