It means he was specifically asked a question about how Martinez was doing so he answered it. No one asked him about Gebbia or Bunch.Direct quotes from SF about Adrian Martinez only...does this mean he's in the lead for starter? I still think he looks the part much more than Gebbia.

Whether it is Martinez or Gebbia or Bunch I don't much care. I just want the best QB on the field. The more interesting thing to me is not "who is going to be the starter" but rather that Frost is clearly not happy with the progress shown by any of his quarterbacks. I don't want to exaggerate since he did not say they were "terrible", but it does serve as a reminder to us all that we are going to be starting a QB this Fall who has never played in a single game yet at this level. There is going to be a learning curve and growing pains.
On the positive side.... I have a gut feeling that this defense is going to surprise us this year.
Exactly! And I think most fans, myself included, think the QB with the most upside is Martinez. But that is all based on what we saw in the Spring game. And if there is anything I have learned in my many years of following Husker football it is that you can't tell **** from the Spring game. lol. If the Spring game is an accurate barometer of a player's potential, then Mazour (sp?) would have been a starter by now.Agreed. And if growing pains are inevitable, give me the guy with the most upside.
Keep up the good work jeans15.Smokin

It could just be that he has higher expectations for his qb's, being as he was a former qb himself. They might really be doing just fine compared to the other position groups.Whether it is Martinez or Gebbia or Bunch I don't much care. I just want the best QB on the field. Yes! Let's hope that is true....It could just be that he has higher expectations for his qb's, being as he was a former qb himself. They might really be doing just fine compared to the other position groups.
I believe Frost mentioned an upcoming scrimmage will be used to assess many positions, including the quarterback. After the scrimmage they will adjust practice reps. I think after that scrimmage, we'll have a better picture of the depth chart. So since nobody asked a question about any QB other than Martinez, maybe that means he's the likely starter...
( I'm really trying to make this happen)
Agree. Same with a receiver they had a few years back KC Hyland. Spring Game warrior, never saw the field as far as I know.Exactly! It means the QBs are young and inexperienced in the system. None of them have played a down yet in a real game and this system requires really fast thinking. Frost says the thinking/decision making by the QBs isn't fast enough at this point. Anybody really surprised about that. If he said everything was 100% good, then you'd know that was coach speak and you weren't getting the truthful answers. It could just be that he has higher expectations for his qb's, being as he was a former qb himself. They might really be doing just fine compared to the other position groups.
Jamal Turner was the ultimate spring game teaseAgree. Same with a receiver they had a few years back KC Hyland. Spring Game warrior, never saw the field as far as I know.
I translated what Frost said into Armenian, then into Swahili, then to Dutch, then to Croatian, then to Persian, and then back to English. It came back as "Sometimes Adria is bigger and sometimes it seems that he moves quickly in front of him."
I thought the more interesting comment was that as a group, the QBs seemed to take a step back from where they were in the Spring.

Gebbia might be better in the passing game, is my take.
I expect inconsistent play at QB this year. We are going to need a really good running game to compete on offense. The good news is we now have some backs, but it really all depends on the oline
This. It really is simple. With brand new, young QB's we will need a strong running game or we are in for a long seasonI expect inconsistent play at QB this year. True enough, which scares the sh*t out of me. Lots of folks are saying there's big improvement for the Oline this year......I hope so!! But they were soooooo worthless the last couple of years.....I just don't know how long it takes even HCSF & staff to seriously turn them around. I just don't know.
