Because the kids sign away their life and limb? sometimes its hard to talk a kid into that. The government now owns them for several years and they make the rules.

I would say that the majority of these kids wanted to make serving as a Military Officer a career. Anyone serving in the military signs this blank check and is aware of the required commitment.
