So now we have to wait a year to discuss things? Ha ha ha ok
Wait a year to discuss results.
Looking forward to it Tuco.

And they didn’t play for a title either.
Winning on a trick play two point conversion in overtime after one of the best games of all time means kicking the **** out of them?Dude, the only team in their class that ever came close to playing for a title (Boise State) kicked the **** out of Oklahoma the one time they got to shine as well.
Talk in a year bro. Be well.
Oh and then there was that undefeated TCU team from the Mountain West that beat #4 Wisconsin in 2011 Rose Bowl an finished #2.
So it has happened at least 3 other times since 2007.

A lot of people forget that it would have been us playing against Boise that year had we beaten OU in the Big 12 championship.... that was a rough game. Never too close, but never out of reach.Considering how undermanned that West Coast team was physically, yes. They kicked the **** out of OU, who should have won by 3-4 TDs.
UCF physically dominated Auburn in the 4Q.
The Nebraska Way.
GBR
And Utah beat Alabama that one time.
Now you see the "outlier" trend Tuco???
How good were those TCU recruiting classes???
You are digging a hole my friend. One I hope I help you out of in a year's time.
GBR
Whittingham is an *******? Since when? With an upcoming coach with the same pedigree as HCSF, who at heart, is an *******.
Not Scott. He's genuine, like TO.
GBR
No offense but I am not digging a hole. Those teams played on average 1 or 2 P5 teams per year. Then they play a bowl game where the opponent is in a no win situation, win and your supposed to, lose and its OMG look at that. Remember that time when Nebraska beat the crap out of Washington in the regular season, then lost the Big 12 title game to Oklahoma, then had to play Washington again. Remember how that turned out? Same theory.
What did Utah and TCU do in their first years as Power 5 schools? Utah was 8-5 overall and 4-5 in the Pac, TCU was 7-6 and 4-5 in the Big 12.
TCU finshed in the top 15 like 5 years in a row when they were in the MWC, finished top 8 a couple of times and finished second in 2010, but Oregon and Auburn played for the title. But when that same team went to the Big 12.....boom 7-6
Back when BYU went undefeated and won the title, everyone was going crazy because they didn't play anyone. Hell everyone on P5 message boards across the country were bitching and moaning about the group of 6 teams and how they don't play anyone, but as usual, when the argument fits the narrative, its easy to switch sides and talk about how good those teams were and how they would still be undefeated if they played in a P5 league.
Frost did a tremendous job at UCF and I am glad he is our coach. But you won't convince me, that playing in a P5 league, UCF goes undefeated.
Again I am on record saying Frost leads this team to 8 regular season wins. I am confident that he will get at least twice as much as Riley did out of these players.
Last year's UCF would have had success in one-offs against these teams... where they would have struggled would have been the weekly grind of the BIG 10.I think Tuco is on the money there. Even last year's UCF would have struggled mightily playing in the Big10's east division. Wisconsin would have also given them all they want and possibly Iowa too.

I think people make too much that playing in a P5 conference is always a "grind". We have one of the toughest schedules in the country and we don't even play all those teams. Our nonconference schedule is a joke. We also get Illinois, Purdue, and Minnesota which should be easy wins. We play a couple mediocre teams in Iowa and Northwestern. Michigan State might be just above those teams but they have a ton of off-field issues and only had 3 wins just 2 years ago. There's only 3 good teams that we have to worry about and they're not close to unbeatable like people make them out to be.Exactly.....for "one" game they could play anybody. Which is impressive as hell. But the "grind" of Michigan St, Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St, etc.....it would have been too much imo.

The AAC was by far the toughest non-P5 conference and had multiple top 25 teams last year. UCF beat all of them. They also beat Auburn which was close to a top 5 team. People make too much out of the Power 5 conferences being that much harder than the other conferences. Every game you play is tough and every week is a grind even if you end up boat racing your opponent. If last year's UCF team played in the Big 10, they wouldn't go 8-4 like some people think. They'd have 2 losses at most. Most likely they'd end up losing a game but they very well may have ended up going undefeated even if they played in a P5 conference. UCF was one of the best teams in the country last year and unfortunately they didn't get the chance to prove they were the best in an 8 team playoff.
Right now, going off 247's rankings, NU is #6 in the B1G for average recruit rating behind OSU, UM, PSU, MSU, and UW. That has to improve if they want to get out of the middle of the West Division, let alone hoist the trophy.
I respect what your statement, but have to did agree. Frost is implementing a system, when you look at the UW in the list above , there success is it's system. Both offensively and Defensively.
Take a look at recruiting rankings for Wis and it looks terrible on paper, but on the field that's a whole deferent story. They, UW, go after a lot of athletes, and fit them into the System. They also only need a few real skill players with solid offensive and defensive lines.
No it's not that I don't have respect for our opponents. We were just that terrble last year. Minnesota and Purdue should be near automatic wins every year and we need to get to the point where we're beating Iowa and Northwestern over 80% of the time. That doesn't mean that any one of those teams can't beat us if we play like ****, but we need to be beating these teams a lot more often than not.Wow oldjar, you have zero respect for our opponents. We should have been so fortunate to be as "mediocre" as Iowa and Northwestern. We must have been very very bad because Minnesota smoked us and we squeaked by Purdue. The conference has added several new coaches and the trajectory of many teams is up as well as ours. Taking teams for granted is a teams first mistake.

Anyone who does not see the difference between the week to week playing of any power 5 schedule and playing a non power 5 schedule has blinders on. I do not care if it is the weakest power 5 conference of all.
Truth.
Everyone here is stroking the Big 10 like it is some collection of football dynasties, when in reality, it is simply top-heavy. tOSU is a powerhouse. PSU looks like they are back. Michigan recruits and Wisky has the formula down. Everyone else is suspect. GBR
P.S. Auburn was the best team in the country after beating Alabama, but had a stretch in the $EC, which just murdered their chances at a National Title. That conference is the bulldozer. You get some 3-4 game stretches there on back-to-back weeks that almost ensure a loss somewhere, and that includes Bama.
So which is it? How can you not see the contidiction in your two paragraphs? You replied “truth” to a comment about how P5 schedule isn’t that hard then in your second paragraph talk about how Auburn’s grind of a schedule cost them a chance at the title.
Edit- Auburn’s grind of an SEC schedule didn’t cost them a chance at the title, losing the conference championship game did. They were in the CFP if they win that one game. The only other SEC loss was at LSU.

5 weeks, Auburn had A&M (won), Georgia (won), call it a bye (ULM), Bama (won), then Georgia (lost).
That's 3 games in 5 weeks against the top 2 teams in the country, you don't think they were physically spent?
"truth" because the only Power 5 conference that is truly elite is the $EC, year-in, year-out.
Which is why Urban high-tailed it out of Florida for tOSU. He knew he would dominate the league, year-in, year-out.
So stuff that in your hat Tuco, ya argumentative squirrel.
I'll take this one step further...
From a business decision standpoint, putting all the homerism and Nebraska Way and "he just came home" BS to the side, I think HCSF made a pretty good decision coming to Nebraska. He thinks he can dominate the West. He has the support and institutional control to do it. Like Urban, he sees the opportunity, and this is probably the most fundamental reason Frost is back, along with the money and other intangibles. GBR
So take away A&M (7-6) and ULM and they had Georgia, bye, Bama, Georgia.
Ohio St had stretches in schedule tougher than that.
Wtf does that have to do with teams from G6 not being able to go undefeated if they played a P5 schedule?
Big Ten last season had 5 teams finish in the top 17. That is while playing against each other. If that is not a strong representation I am not sure what is. And that does not include Michigan or Iowa.. Playing against that schedule vs most any other conference other than the SEC is right there and the SEC is not that much more of a challenge! SEC had 5 in the top 19.
And again.. What does Auburn's schedule have to do with a G6 team playing a power 5 schedule?? Besides you are the one who said playing a Power 5 schedule does not matter! Right???

I think most of all when Tom gave Frost assurances he would have full support and enough runway...like seven years, it became an emotional decision for him. Alma Mater, personal goals ie...pride.
Then after his personal musings were worked out he asked his wife, whom could have put the kabosh on it all most likely even before asking his crew and what they wanted.
The he probably asked his staff. After seeking God's will, people are the biggest reason to do or not to do anything in life, career is a major one.
Although the road to winning the west div. of the B1G, subsequent CCG appearance chances, and subsequent playoff chances were probably like a cherry on top and not the fundamental reason.
Just my view I guess.
Appreciate your view, but I think Florida blew it when they didn't gave him full institutional control and didn't assure his staff would come along as well. I live in Gator Nation. Their culture has become a Gatorpit. I think they have much less regard for "people" and more regard for "winning" and have lost a functional culture. Their solution is to bring in a top Dixieland coach...we'll see if that works.
Scott's wife liked Orlando, from all reports, and isn't a Nebraska native.
And winning the West, or at least contesting it with Wisky (and having a better or contrasting offensive scheme to recruit to), well, that is something unique to Nebraska. He's from Nebraska, he won Titles at Nebraska, he knows the entire state is behind him. GBR
