If they go 6-6 all the haters are gonna bury nu. Although is 6-6 a decent start for the frost era considering we play possibly the toughest schedule in football?

As long as progress is being made, Frost and his crew will have fan support.
How do I define "progress?" Not losing to tOSU and Io_a by identical 56-14 routs and giving up 50+ point is the final three games.
One effing time... Geez what a game that was.Just making Ohio state punt 1 time would be an improvement
I believe its been 2 games in a row they have not punted. I think Millard West could have stopped them better. One effing time... Geez what a game that was.
I am far from a hater but 6-6 would suckIf they go 6-6 all the haters are gonna bury nu. Although is 6-6 a decent start for the frost era considering we play possibly the toughest schedule in football?
Unfortunately, you are correct. But what may be even worse is that we forced Minnesota to punt only once last year.I believe its been 2 games in a row they have not punted.
I'm not so sure the score is what matters in a loss as much as did the players and coaches stay in the game until the end. Heck tOSU lost to Iowa by a ton.I agree 100%. Success can be measured in different ways. If they lose by less than a TD to the big schools and blowout the schools that should be blown out, that in itself can be considered successful. Whereas if they get beat by 3+ TDs and struggle against the weaker teams then no, that would bot be considered improvement.
I'd be fine with 6-6 next year depending how those 6 losses go. But I feel like this team has the talent to win 7 or 8. We'll see. I wish I could tell the future.
We have enough talent on this squad to win 9 or maybe even more, but who knows. Several months ago right after Frost was hired I said what was needed was a mental makeover as to say, a change in the teams overall mindset and phsyche before it could really do anything and it looks like it's coming along quite nicely. I also said strength and conditioning was a must, which is going great as well and then learning how to win again which will come in time. What I see happening this year when things start coming together when the lights start coming on, people are going to start seeing the kind of talent we really have as well as extreme intensity and brutal physicality coming back that has long been missing from DONU along with a nasty vicious competitive attitude, all of this due in part taking on not only the personality of it's head coach but also having an extremely large chip on it's shoulder after being humiliated the way the team was last year. Remember this, a team that has something or everything to prove can be an extremely dangerous one. I see conference teams on our schedule finally finding out what brutally physical hits truly are. We aren't gonna win the division or conference this year but barring any real major injuries by seasons end, this team could very well be downright scary and extremely dangerous! Welcome to Husker Power and Husker Football Big 10. This year is just the beginning, and yes sooner than later, The BIG will have to adjust to us and I don't think they can when all is said and done! This sleeping giant is starting to stir, waking from a very long slumber! We aren't back by a long shot, but we will eventually be! The day may very well come that this conference will regret ever allowing us to join it as far as football is concerned! JMHO!! GBR!!!We should have won 7-8 last year. That's why Riley is no longer here. I still think we have the talent to go 7-8 this year. I have good feelings towards Coach Frost and his staff. I will give them time to do it their way. They'll be judged on results, not how they do it. Plus, he's a homer.![]()
I'm all for brutal physicality but I don't think it will happen in nine months. We have enough talent on this squad to win 9 or maybe even more, but who knows. We'll probably still win 8 games. 7 minimumThe Vegas o/u is 6.5. All the magazine's have the team between 5 to 7 wins. I don't think anyone will be shocked if Nebraska goes 6-6.
1. The QB, whether it's Martinez or Gebbia, is going to be a freshman.
2. The offensive scheme is brand new, and amounts to a significant philosophical change.
3. There is virtually no depth at offensive tackle.
4. The defense is void of pass rushers.
5. The cornerback depth will be made up of freshmen and juco transfers.
6. The best safety is too small to be effective. The best run stopping safety is too injury prone to be relied upon.
7. The schedule includes games with 9 bowl teams from 2017.
8. The schedule likely includes 4 games vs. Top 10 teams, 3 of which will be on the road.
9. 5 of the 6 best teams the Huskers face will be on the road.
10. Even the home games that appear winnable have challenges. Akron has a real coach who has completely overhauled a once dreadful program. They bring in a good returning QB and experience. Colorado returns a 3rd year starting QB after a rebuilding year. Troy, has one of the best young coaches around, and will trot in a terrific defense. Illinois is still Illinois, but they return 38 of 44 players from their 2 deep. They will clearly be improved. Purdue should be much better on offense in year 2 under Brohm. Minnesota will be better in season 2 as well... and we all know what they did to Mike Riley in 2017.
If Nebraska goes 6-6, there will be plenty of reason to be optimistic going into 2019.
Well, he is going to get his chance to go up against all of the Big 10 coaching darlings this first year with the exception of Franklin. 6-6 is fine as long as the sixth win is vs Iowa on Nov 23rd. Going in to the off season or bowl game off a loss sucks balls.
You're right - a more appropriate description would be a major system overhaul instead of a rebuild. However, I've been on Earth too long not to realize that starting a freshman QB in the B10 is a very bumpy ride. Absent a miracle, one should expect a few sub-par, perhaps even awful, performances which will directly contribute to losses.-MAJOR rebuilding project.....(with three consecutive top 25 classes) (Again BS)
The minions are out in force lowering expectations. No need to hype the team this year as the excitement for the shiny new toy will sell all the tickets.I love it.
-People will be good with 5-7 as long as there are no blow outs. ( I call BS)
-If Nebraska goes 9-3 it will be because Frost and Co coached them up, not because the players had talent.
-If Nebraska does go 5-7, it will be because there is no talent on the team and it will be Riley's fault. (although that excuse has never been acceptable)
-MAJOR rebuilding project.....(with three consecutive top 25 classes) (Again BS)
-Scheme changes......(although that too has never been an acceptable excuse). In the past, the coach was expected to adjust their scheme to fit the talent on the team. Then adjust going forward.
-Moral victories simply aren't the Nebraska way.
As I have said countless times, this is an 8 win team. Losses to Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio St, and 1 to either Iowa, Northwestern or Michigan St.
Northwestern is my bet, especially if Thorson is back and healthy. This Nebraska team will get better as the season progresses and will improve at a greater rate than their opponents as they become more familiar with the schemes, Michigan St and Iowa are the last 2 games.

Yeah, then put either one of them behind our line last year.Remind me again how old the two QBs were in the national championship game? Both of them played in the SEC, which is just as daunting as the mighty Big 10
Yeah, then put either one of them behind our line last year.
I really don't get this line of thinking. This team went 4-8 last year, has a new offense, new defense, new QB and plays the toughest schedule in all of CFB. I don't think expecting growing pains and losses next year is some grand conspiracy to lower expectations, make excuse or move some imaginary goalposts, it's just reality. The minions are out in force lowering expectations. No need to hype the team this year as the excitement for the shiny new toy will sell all the tickets.

THIS^^^^^^^^. I'd add that we are in the 3rd year in a row with a different D coordinator. You will have guys out there 'thinking' not reacting for awhile. It happened last year, a lot.
Those predicting 6-6 I'm guessing most look at the schedule and believe that Nebraska wins 6 of 7 home games, and loses to MSU.
Those predicting 7-5, I'm guessing most believe Nebraska wins all 7 at home, or loses to MSU and beats maybe NW on the road?
Those predicting 8-4, I'm guessing you feel Nebraska goes undefeated at home and wins at NW?
If you predict 9-3, got to beat one of the following teams on the road (Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Iowa), plus beat NW at home, and win all 7 home games. Who is that 1 going to be? Iowa? Why because they are Iowa and we're Nebraska????
10 wins? Ok, which 2 does Nebraska beat on the road of the 4 above?
If Nebraska wins 9 or more games this season, give HCSF a 2nd consecutive COY award, because that would be unbelievable with the schedule they will play in a staff's first year, with a freshman QB.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm just hoping for bowl eligibility this year, and anything more is a bonus.
Just making Ohio state punt 1 time would be an improvement
Your forgetting what Frost said when asked about the Offense and Defense, He said that both were very easy to learn and just takes repetition to get down. I'm standing by my earlier post. As I said, this is at least a 9 win team.1st year HC, OC, DC. 1st year QB. Brand new offense and defense systems. That is a huge change for any program. Any time you are breaking-in a brand new QB there will necessarily be growing pains …. and those pains will be surely be amplified if the new QB is a true freshman, especially in the B10, even more so with the B10 opponents on schedule.
Given the circumstances, you accept 6-6 as a definite move forward in a major rebuilding project. Agree with others that at the end of the season, success will be measured by tangible progress more so than total wins.
