Any word on Tre Bryant

Did he have surgery on his knees? Weird deal with this kid, nobody will say what his actual condition is or what (if anything) he has had done to try to fix it.

Makes it sound like he's just got arthritic knees at a very young age and there's really nothing you can do, but I don't know if that's the case.

Would be nice to get Tre back. If healthy, he would be a guy that can get in a rhythm and help extend drives. He is plus yards in the running game. Bell and Tre would be a really nice RB combo.

Hopefully if he makes it back they are smart enough to get him like 45 carries each of the first two games, then shelf him the rest of the way.

Why would you do that??? Doesn't make any sense at all.

Why would they do that?? More like why did they do that! I still can’t get over how Riley’s staff used Tre for 100% of the carriers to start last season even though they knew his knees were an issue.

A 100% Tre Bryant is our starting RB hands down as he would absolutely thrive in this Offense! IMHO
If he's healthy we probably win 2 or 3 more games last season. You could tell Riley was going to lean on him big time from the first couple of games. Probably not a wise thing considering his knees

Our offense would have been a lot different last year if we had a healthy Tre Bryant. He was looking like our best RB in several years, and he was running with authority and elusiveness.

I do believe he set the record for most yards in someone's first career start. Really hoping he can come back and make an impact.

It is sarcasm. The last crew did exactly that last year. Meanwhile the rest of the RB's barely got scraps those first few games.
The last crew couldn't figure out a running back rotation since for their entire tenure. Years 1 and 2 we do way too much RB by committee and no one can get a rhythm... Year 3 they give Bryant every carry until he gets hurt.

I like Bell and Tre as the Bell Cows. Ziggy will see some touches. And guys like JD and Tyjon will factor in as the Duck Rs.

If the injury is as described in some of the (albeit fuzzy) news reports, I could see Bryant having a really big year - minus a couple of games where his knee is just sore as Hell and he needs a week off.

I think he'll be back as a nice contributor but not the workhorse back (durability probably a limiting factor). IMO, unless he's injured, Bell is going to be the top back but I think Frost's offense spreads the ball around much more than what we saw under Riley so no back is going to be the only back.

What I think may happen is, 5 backs maybe used every game. Utilizing speed in the in the 1st 2 quarters using Bell and Jones to start taking the wind out of the opposing D and then in the 3rd Qtr bring in the sledgehammer Ziggy to wear out the line. Finally 4th Qtr if healthy enough Bryant and Wilbon to break their backs and finish them off in dominating fashion. Smart move by Frost if he does it! JMHO. GBR!

Oh boy, that sounds damn good to me. NU going back to being physical & mean. If our OLine can somehow come around soon THAT would be awesome.

So now we have the "smart" standard for coach Frost. Hope he can live up to it.

If Tre is better than 90%, he’s better than Wilbon and Zig. Lots of guys in the mix. If Tre is actually good to go, Zig and Wilbon will see diminished reps. That doesn’t even factor in whether Washington makes it to campus. If a couple of kids take good hold of the Duck-R spot, carries will come at even a higher premium at RB. Does a kid like Jaylin move on from the program?

At this point Bell is the one to beat out over them all. More than one back will be getting carries in this offense.
I’m not counting on Washington to play this year whether he qualifies and gets a redshirt or not.

I believe you mean to say I "know nothing" not "no" nothing and perhaps it should be that I don't know (no) "anything". Keep "trying" to have an intelligent conversation, you are doing well thus far.

They may all be used, but pretty sure he won't platoon them by quarters.

When has Wilbon EVER been dominating? Unless you consider pussyfooting in the backfield looking for a hole until someone tackles you for a 2-yard loss dominating. He runs with no aggression whatsoever.

Well, the previous three years of the mighty Beaver coaching should have easily shown that "holes" for rbs almost never exist.

What I'm saying is this, back in the day the Canes used to employ the same thing against us, using both their receivers and backs to accomplish this. They would start out with blazing speed in the 1st 2 quarters of the game and then the 3rd Qtr they would employ power and by the 4th we were so worn down and then they would bring speed back into the game breaking our backs and destroying us. If Frost employs something similar to this, opponents by the 4th will be worn down enough that even Wilbon would be effective. I don't care what rotation is used, but if something like this is employed, using those backs the way I described in my 1st post coupled with the passing game utilizing the speed of the receivers and speed backs in the 1st 2 quarters of the game then a sledgehammer for power in the 3rd and back to speed in the 4th? Just sayin! Very winded in the first half, worn down in the 3rd and completely worn out in the 4th. Simple math really in the ultimate game of Chess as this is what it's all about!

Any word on Tre??

Is everyone assuming Bell will be our top back? Does anyone know if Ozigbo, Wilbon, or Bradley are in better shape and ready to make a push?
