Hey gang. My sources close to the situation tell me we will be landing a grad transfer from Utah, Vaha Vainuku. He’s old as balls but strong it sounds like. DT is his listed position at Utah but sounds like he played on the o line there as well. Stay tuned, should break anytime.

Scholarship or Walk-On? He hasn't played football since 2016 and only played in 2 games, recording zero stats and has been injured most of the time. Seems like kind of a reach for a scholarship.

He was in the same high school class as another former Husker from Utah... Jared Afalava. Doesn't that seem like forever ago?
so he has played in exactly 2 games since 2012, both games as an offensive guard. LDS mission in 2012 and 2013, grayshirt in 2014, redshirt in 2015, played a couple games in 2016, injured and retired from football in spring 2017.

Yeah, I was wondering where he would play too. I think they want him as a NT as he's 6'3" and damn near 300 pounds, so he's the right height and weight for it. He can play immediately, too, which is nice. It doesn't really matter to me which position on either line he plays, so long as he's good at it.
It's also true that we need depth and development on both lines. In this sped-up system on offense and an attacking ,aggressive defense, guys are going to have to be in excellent shape to play, and they need to have some depth to rotate some guys out/deal with injuries. So, this is all a good sign! We picked up two linemen today, and I LIKE IT.

Also I don't view "old" as a bad thing when it comes to linemen. That specifically is a position you have to gain weight, grow thicker, and grow more experienced in over time. This dude is 24 or 25 and a grown *** man. Just like Damien Jackson, I think it's an asset, not a liability, for line play.

He is a very "FIT" 295. He makes Frost look like a toothpick.I'm 45, so I am qualified to say "Welcome to Lincoln kid!"
He's older but still at or near his physical peak, and he's had a lot of time on the shelf, so should be ready to roll with new conditioning/training regimen.
Frost is searching for bodies and guys that look the part. Certainly this kid is that type.
We should have better luck with prototypical DT bodies than trying to spin Cam Meredith inside.

As far as physical peak is concerned, I always thought that was at around 28. Most of the time 25 year olds will stay at their peak or continue getting better.
WHAT?!?! Cam Meredith was the most awesome, dynamic, dominating difference maker ever. He pissed lightning and crapped thunder. Whenever he was on the field, offenses had to know where he was, and they usually said, "Yup, there he is. And he's probably not going anywhere soon."
I met Cam's folks one game at a tailgate. They were nice people. He was a tough competitor that had no business playing inside. He was a little bigger and less dynamic Ben Stille in my eyes. He played real hard on teams that were ok. Sounds like a lot of us on our 9-5 job. Actually, most of us are closer to last years version of Nick Gates. We went into that job with a lot of fire, and the job slowly beat us down. I am closer to fellow Monarch Dylan Utter. I am undersized but play the position like a chihuahua.
