Get real, no one cares about Iowa. I didn't like calling CU a rival but I hated them and yes they were a rival. We played some relevant games against CU. Iowa has never been relevant and they will never play in a relevant game. No one cares.

I am so looking forward to playing Colorado this fall and then making the return trip to Boulder next season. I miss playing them (and all of the rest of the Big 8) so much. I always hear/read about folks having bad experiences in Boulder. I've been there for several games and not once was I harassed, flipped off or treated badly.
I think a lot of this issue goes to the drinking that goes on before/during the game etc., by fans on both sides of the ball. They get a little too much in them and then the false bravado kicks in and they start badgering each other etc. I don't drink at all (never have in my 61 years) so I would imagine that has something to do with it in my case anyway.

Minnesota was once a power in College Football. Nebraska had a great run in Dr. Tom's final years.
Ohio State won the first college football playoff in 2014. Michigan State won a birth in 2015 only to be smoked by Alabama, who went onto to be champ.
Only three programs have won a CFP: Alabama being the latest, with Clemson the previous.
It is a new era in College Football, with the Playoff.
Only Georgia, Florida State, Michigan State, Oregon, Oklahama and Washington have made the CFP, as well, but no titles, yet.
The SEC is pretty solid, as the leader, lead by Alabama. Four for four in appearances is as good as it gets Lurk

We had a great run from 70 to 2001 who gives a sht about other schools.
I went to the back to back games in 1986 and 1987. In 1986 thing started out with the CU cheerleaders and Ralphie handlers standing in front of the NU visiting fan section and using some of the foulest language I'd ever heard in describing the fans and NU.
Then when a friend and I started walking around the horseshoe to get back to our seats there was a young man walking in front of us wearing an NU golf cap. Someone from the CU student section grabbed the cap and threw it up into the crowd, to roars of approval. The NU fan stopped and kind of laughed. Then he said something to the effect of "that's really funny, but can I have my f&*king hat back." At that point 5 CU fans jumped him and really started pounding him. My friend and I kind of looked at each other in disbelief, and then waded in, trying to pull people off of the kid. During that brief scrum I had urine poured on me. Later it cost me $52 to get my jacket cleaned. I would have tossed it but it had some sentimental value. Maybe 30 seconds after we jumped in security was everywhere. The CU fans were hustled off and it took some quick explaining on my part and showing my NU shirt under my jacket to keep from getting tossed.
My mother from Lincoln was at that game. A number of her friends were there as well, all in their late 50's to mid 60's at the time. After the game several of those friends were assaulted by CU fans who appeared, based on age, to be students. One guy had to go to the hospital. My mother always looked forward to going to away games in Boulder, as she grew up in Alliance in the western part of NE and made many trips to Boulder and the surrounding area as a kid. But after 1986 she decided never to go back. She was afraid for her safety.
Because of a change in the schedule we played in Boulder again in 1987 and I went to that game. At halftime I was wandering around when I saw a female NU fan in, I would guess, her mid to late 40's pushed down and kicked at by 2 female CU fans who, again, I would guess were students. I ran over and the CU fans took off. I escorted the NU fan to the first aid tent. I made a vow never to return to a game there and I haven't since.
I have heard that since alcohol was banned from the stadium, things have gotten better. But I still remember the comment my friend that I was with in 1986 made after he game. He grew up near Ann Arbor and played tennis for Michigan. He had no skin in the CU-NU "rivalry", but he said "man, I thought Ohio State fans were jerks, but they are nothing compared to these a$$holes."
cu fans were by far considered the worst in the 8 and 12 (especially when they had their surge in the late 80's), I have no doubt they still hold that status quite well today, although they've been a doormat in the PAC pretty much since they arrived there, there's no real rival for them to glom onto, other than their attempt to make Utah their rival, the Utah fans shot that down early and often.
I went to enough games in the late 70's through 2005 to know first hand what morons many of them can be. To be fair, there are a lot who don't get much into the scrum, but the ones who do (and there's no shortage of them), total a-holes!
Majority of Colorado bad fans came from the student section.
I’ve been there 3 times and 1986 was my worst experience that was the day they finally beat us since 1967 and was one of the wildest tearing down the goal post celebration after the game that I seen and I have had my share of opponents tearing down the goal post in my life time...

Colorado finally cleaned up the student section problem following the 2005 Nebraska game, when the home team's bench got bombarded with cups of beer and other debris, and the police had to clear the student section in front of a national TV audience. These days I don't think visiting fans have too many bad experiences at Folsom Field. It also helps that most of the big crowds at Folsom are probably 35-40 percent Oregon/USC/UW/Utah fans. For the other games, the crowds are not that large and the environment is pretty tame. If you go to the 2019 game in Boulder, there's always a chance some idiot might key your car or throw a beer at you in the parking lot. But I think most people will have no such problems.
For me that is by far the highlight of the Callahan era. I laughed my @$$ off watching the student section being escorted out.

Boulder is much more fun than Iowa City. More importantly for me I have quite a few Husker friends in Denver. I went to almost every CU Vs NU game from the Eighties thru 2000. Denver is an easy flight from one of the closer airports to me, Spokane.
