POB not at practice today. hmmm

Figured this was how it would shake out but it still sucks to see it happen.
I think there is a good chance this may have happened even if Riley had stayed. I think Gebbia would have beaten him out this year even in Riley's offense.
Last season put a big red flag in my mind concerning POB. Tanner Lee was just flat-out awful in some games and yet POB continued to ride pine no matter what the situation. You would think they would want to get the heir apparent some decent reps to get him ready for next year. But nope. In my mind that told me that even Riley and Langs had doubts about POB.

I would still say he is better suited toward a Riley/ WCO than the fast paced spread offense of Frost’s.
Doesn’t surprise me that he isn’t fitting in to this offense and is now getting the least reps.
Frost said he asked for and has been granted his release to find an offense that better fits his skills.

Doesn't surprise me either that he doesn't fit Frost's offense.
But he DOES fit Riley's offense but still couldn't get decent playing time last year even as Lee was throwing pic after pic
Not necessarily an indictment on him. Coaches don't always make the right choices, nor do they always put kids in the best situation to be successful.
best of luck to him. if i were him i would go d2 for a year and then back to d1 somewhere so you dont lose another year. JMO
I'm so glad we saved his RS a few years ago when we needed a healthy QB and he was on the team, to play QB, but we saved him. Sweet.
Good luck to the kid. Feel bad for him. Maybe he ends up at a good FCS school where he could be eligible next year?

I am not surprised that POB has left the program. Of the quarterback group he seemed to least athletic and most likely to leave. I think it is telling that when Lee played just awful he still did not get any playing time. I think SF did the right thing and gave him a full release. This lets him go whereever he wants to. Patrick might just be what some FCS school needs. He is from California. I went to elementary school in Davis and it's a great place. San Luis Obispo I would think would be a pretty good school and a fun place to go to college. Sacramento State has a team too in the Big Sky conference. I just hope for his sake he doesn't go to Oregon State and reunite with Riley. As long as Riley is associated with the Beavers it is the kiss of death for that team. Good Luck, Patrick.
i am glad we did redshirt him and not burn a year for one or two worthless games which our d wasnt going to let us win anyway. sometimes its ok to do right by your guys
I think Riley stayed with Lee to help keep his confidence up. They put lots of eggs in Lee's basket, too many for my liking so Riley was just going to stay with him no matter what. If we didn't have the coaching change, not sure if Lee would still have left but if he did it would still be a two man battle and POB's odds would have been much better.
If I were him, I'd give Craig Bohl a call.
He would have to sit out a year when transferring from D2 to D1. Players can transfer down with no penalty, but they can't transfer up without sitting out a year. I think that is done so that D1 schools can't use lower level schools as "farm systems".
Or North Dakota State since Easton Stick is a Senior in 2018.
I predict he'll transfer to another Power 5 school. I don't think there's enough data on him to say he's anything other than the 4-star coming out of high school. He'll still have two years of eligibility to play somewhere.

Different offense than he was planning on playing in. Wish the young man well and hope that he lands somewhere that best gives him a chance to showcase his skills.

The question is whether he can make a case that the system change disadvantaged him ala Tanner Lee. He would then have four to play three. One thing that does not seem to get mentioned is that POB was considered a bit of a project in terms of skill development coming out of HS. Two years of not playing much on Saturdays plus the prospect of sitting out another year. If he cannot find a fit with a school that has looks to have an open competition for QB in a year, maybe he considers an FCS school in need of a starter.
Another highly-ranked QB recruit that didn't last here. I know coaching changes had to do with POB and some others, but man we've had a lot QBs that didn't live up to the hype here.
That's true at every school. Recruiting QBs is a crap shoot in most cases. It doesn't help that we've changed OCs or offensive system every couple of years since we canned Frank.
I was thinking the theory is that he would be 4 years in (after the year at FCS or DII) and have his degree, so he could be a grad transfer and play immediately.
