Been plenty of talk about our 2018 football schedule arguably the toughest in the country this coming season....Looked up how many times we have played other teams in the opposite division not including Maryland and Rutgers compared to Wisconsin and Iowa from 2011-2021.

Nebraska
Ohio State- 8
Michigan-5 (two of the 5 at home)
Penn State- 5 ( two of the 5 at home)
Michigan St- 7
Indiana-2

Wisconsin
Ohio State-5
Michigan- 6
Penn State-5
Michigan St-4
Indiana-5

Iowa
Ohio State- 3
Michigan- 5
Penn State- 8
Michigan St-5
Indiana-6

Nebraska is going to play Indiana only twice in 11 years. Seems to me Nebraska should be playing Indiana this year instead of Michigan State and Iowa or Wisconsin should be playing Michigan State..

Really Hope Delany does a better job of evening out who Nebraska plays in the future..
Like to play Michigan a little more and Ohio State a little less. The biggest joke is playing Indiana only twice and their one of the original members of the Big 10 and we will have played Maryland and Rutgers more than Indiana In shorter period of time.

Thoughts anyone?

Good research - thanks.

We were brought into this conference for one reason and one reason only - to increase the national prestige of the conference in football.
We were supposed to help achieve this by providing more prime time conference games. Playing Indiana doesn’t do this. We haven’t come close to meeting expectations.
There was complaining during basketball season that the conference didn’t give us a hard enough schedule to bolster our resume - now in football it is the opposite.

I was hoping that this many years in the big maybe OSU and MSU would be lamenting the fact the the BIG scheduled Nebraska too much.

I thing I must point out, in Basketball the conference schedule isn’t released till later in the summer where the football schedule the next 3 years was released last fall.

If you think about this we played Michigan at home in 2012 and Michigan doen’t make a return visit to Lincoln till 2021.
Same goes for Penn St they come to Lincoln in 2020 and haven’t been here since 2012.

Playing Michigan and Penn St is every bit prestige’s as play tOSU.Winking

It could also be we are the "new kid" on the block and they are making us prove we belong. So far we haven't been able to do that.

That's stupid, we've won 5 national titles and played in like 12.

Existing schools just don't want Nebraska to be Great Again! The system is rigged against Nebraska. This will all backfire on them now.

I alluded to Wisconsin's "road schedule" last fall. Their trip to Lincoln last October, was only their 4th road night game since 2011. Nebraska has now played 11 league games under the lights, since coming into the Big Ten.

Michigan and Wisconsin have the easiest paths in scheduling. Ohio State and Nebraska have the toughest paths. However, Ohio State holds up their end of the bargain. Nebraska does not.

A tad paranoid are ya ! We are not all trying to hold Nebraska back. You have a great football history -- wishing you the best except when you play the Cats.

It is not a discrepancy it is a clear plan, especially last year and forward:
NU v Ohio State the most
WI v Michigan the most
IA v Penn State the most
I assume at the end of this cycle it will change. WI would be tops in the West today.
FOLLOW THE MONEY that is the key to Big 10 scheduling. Fairness has nothing to do with it.

We're making boatloads more cash in the BIG.

The boatloads of cash are driven, in huge part, by the BIG network.

The BIG network makes its money, at the end of the day, by bringing in eyeballs.

Nebraska playing against big name schools helps increase the number of eyeballs. That's why we got an invite.

That is something we should be happy about. It will help this conference, and by extension, us, a hell of a lot more if we can quit getting prison yarded each and every time this conference features us in prime time.

Discrepancy part is Nebraska playing Indiana twice and Michigan St 7 times and Wisconsin and Iowa playing Indiana 5 and 6 respectively and Michigan St playing them 9 times combined 2 more than Nebraska.

I'm not saying we should be playing Indiana more than tOSU, I'm saying we should be playing them as much as Wisconsin and Iowa has. One of them should be playing MSU this year and Nebraska should be getting Indiana at home instead of waiting till next season to play them.

Ahhhh.....the finest music to my ears. No doubt SF will turn this boat around but think it could take more than one year....who knows?

But when he does it's payback time!

I am not worried over, or upset about, playing the "big boys" too many times.

What we should be worried about, and angry over, is the number of times we have pissed down our legs against Northwestern, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. If we had won most of those games we would have won our division several times despite our "big boy" schedule, and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Just win baby

While the huskers probably haven't held their weight regarding conference championships and national rankings, etc., they are one of only 5 teams in the conference to have beaten every other team in the conference at least once since 2011. The others are OSU, Michigan, MSU and PSU. So in that sense, they have at least contributed to some prominent matchups.

I would rather play Ohio St, Michigan, MSU, and PSU more. But it does hurt us winning the West. I don't mind that idea of having only West division games count, but I would rather keep it the way it is. To have a good season, you have to beat good teams.

Delaney only cares about the TV cash that the games will generate.

b1g sucks
Don’t see us going anywhere else anytime soon, so may as well buy in.

Since nebraska’s Last NC the B1G has won the NC as much as the big 12... more blue bloods in B1G... just a more storied and prestigious conference. I know we lack the history and rivalries, but those will come in time.

Winning cures all. If Frost has us winning, it won’t matter what conference we are in.

Of course, you could have been joking as well. If so, disregard.

it was just a drive by comment.. but if the winds ever do change, i'll be the first in line to support a return to where we belong.

History is hard to replace, but some very smart people thought this was the best move for NU.

I honestly don't see the appeal of the Big 12, but to each their own. I like the Big 8 though.

Exactly. I'll always miss the Big8......but the corrupt BigXII buh bye!

I really like the Big10 now though. Michigan, Whisky, Ohio State, Iowa, PSU, MSU.....it's a rough, tough conference and where we belong. Now that we have a great HC & staff......it'll be great!

I think winning and Frost will change some opinions. NU is going have some great opportunities really show that they are back. NU vs Michigan, OSU, and PSU are yet to really take off IMO. And how Delaney had it drawn up. Believe you me, he wants to see NU do well. That is why both parties reached out. NU to give us more cred and to play those big time games.

That's only good for the B1G not Nebraska winning championships.

Don't care how good you are. You can and will lose when you play good teams throughout the year.

While Iowa plays the equivalent of an old Big 8 schedule.

God I wish we could send them back. No desire to play either of those schools in any sport. Terrible fit. But good financial decision.
How good of a financial decison?
This is my problem with this rationale. Such a static way of lookng at things. By fluid thinking I believe its a wash, perhaps a detriment.

Yeh, why the heck couldn't they let Nebraska play Rutgers, Illinois and Purdue twice last year? It's a conspiracy, I tell ya...

And also @Wisconsin, @Nothwestern and @nebraska to go with them.

Iowa and Nebraska have the same in division schedule and trade off from one year to the next.

For example,Wisconsin splits having Iowa at home and Nebraska away and flip flop the following year.

It is real simple. You should play teams from the other division in a regular rotation. There shouldn't be any 8-2 discrepancies ever. Our AD should be/should have been demanding it. And games against the other division shouldn't count in division standings. Good grief, give every team an equal shot at getting to the title game.

unbalanced scheduling just makes no sense. what reason could there be if you care at all about treating teams equally? that said, when i see purdue, illinois, rutgers, minnesota, indiana or maryland on the schedule....puke.

Playing 9 conference games is fvcking moronic.

esp when you get an akron, colorado, troy non con slate or a northern illy, colorado, south alabama slate. i always want to play at least one top 25 type program in the non con. at least we pick up OU in 21 and 22.
