Nebraska has to pray that there are no bids stollen during conference tournaments. Every upset shrinks the bubble.

This IMO is the absolute biggest factor, along with, we have to hope those teams above us who have better resumes according to what the selection committee are going to look at lose any remaining regular season games (not what some of you hope they are going to look at). Like for instance fellow Husker fans, you better be rooting for Creighton to knock off Marquette on the road in a few days. Also, better hope that as many of the other bubble teams listed above Nebraska go 1 and done in their conference tournaments.

I'm also hoping that maybe just maybe, Arizona tries to get ahead of the situation and gives themselves a self imposed post-season ban this season. Anything to help.

It will still make it easier to pull for KU tonight over texass.

Baylor another team that could lose that is on the bubble with us against OU.

The point had to do with conference perceptions based on early season non-conference games. Is Creighton as good now as they were earlier? No way. They beat Nova at home with a berth in the tourney in question according to everybody I listened to. So what. Right now as of this minute, NU is a team anybody anywhere near the bubble wouldn't want to play to get in to the tournament and yet NU is supposedly on the outside looking in.

Because they haven’t won very many games against top competition. If the roles were reversed with Michigan, the same people would be saying strength of schedule and tier 1 record is what’s important.

Although it wouldn't be explicitly stated in their criteria for obvious reasons, I think the committee will look at the compressed B1G schedule. They are looking at top 50... top 100 levels or Q1 games because it shows that they can win difficult games.... well playing a group of 4 games in 7 days (in conference play) is something no one else has had to do outside of the big ten and it is difficult (and is a more valid measure of being tournament ready)... just as or if not more difficult than getting a top 50 win or Q1 win.

Just so everyone is aware, In games on 1 day of rest or less, Nebraska is 8-0

I think Vegas would be more interested in the stat like that then the NCAA selection committee would be.

If Nebraska plays basketball like they did in the first half of the Penn State game, this team will go to the Sweet 16.

Yes, they get into the dance
Yes, Miles is a good coach in an era of massive cheating
Yes, they have 3 NBA draft picks

you have no argument from me - but the index was developed by the NCAA committee and is used to various degrees from year to year

i posted in another thread - but linked is a composite of all the various computer ranking models using numerous different methods - and has Nebraska at 55. Clearly there has to be some room for common sense as those composites have PSU at 45.

I think we at least need to beat Michigan. Oddly enough we might have been better off having the same record and being the 5 seed which would give us the opportunity for an additional win on the resume because unless we win the tournament we are going to have an additional loss. I would rather be 2-1 in the tourney than 1-1 with a bye.

As i have said the 2014 team entered the BIG tourney on the bubble with an rpi of 41. We are entering with an RPI of 58

A 2-1 record would be preferable, but that assumes a win against UM in either scenario. I wouldn't like our chances of beating them again if we had to play a game the day before. I'll take a better chance of a win against them straight up than playing them at a disadvantage just to get another win against Iowa or Illinois. Neither of those teams would do anything for our RPI/perception anyway aside from padding our record with another W. And playing Illinois again would be far from a gimme.

I think what all of us Huskers fans have to ask ourselves is do we truly believe this team will win a game in the tournament. I love the Huskers, but I don't think they have it.
I share your pessimism. Historically speaking, if NU stays true to form, we will crap our pants in the first game of the B1G tourney and that will be the end of our big dance hopes.

However, there are several posters on here who know more about Husker hoops than I do who have rushed forward to point out my ignorance of the topic. My views were called ******** and that I did not know what I am talking about. Lol. They are probably right!! Here is hoping they are right and I am wrong (again). I would LOVE to see the Huskers make some noise in the B1G tourney and make it to the dance.

One thing we can all agree upon: it is nice that we have a shot at achieving something this year. That, in itself, is a sign of hope

From Sports Illustrated:

Nebraska wrapped up its regular season with wins over Indiana and Penn State last week. The Cornhuskers are the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten tournament, which means a likely date with Michigan in the conference quarterfinals. They’ll need to win that game, hope that Michigan State beats the Wisconsin-Maryland winner, and then knock off the Spartans to have any shot for an at-large bid.

24-10 and have barely a shot. Seems legit.
