I think he had an illness for a few years. Was not totally unexpected to hear this Wednesday. He was a big part of Lincoln baseball for quite a while. Good dude.

The obituary said memorials were going to the Alzheimer's association makes me think he died from that. But yes prayers for the family

Yeah that was it, but I didn't think it needed to be said on random message board.

It’s not like dying from Alzheimer’s is anything taboo. It has killed millions of people.

I’m sorry to hear of this . It’s about the worst way to go.

I didn't take your post that way at all. I Was merely trying to avoid typical reactions of this place
I understand completely, my father passed away from dementia was never diagnosed with Alzheimer's he probably could have been, dad was about 20 years older than Mr Gordon, you just don't think of people that you with this horrible disease but I just read that someone in there 30s was diagnosed with it. IMO we should talk about it but don't make fun, its definitely hard on the family hopefully the people that are effected are in there own peaceful world instead of being scared

Didn't mean any disrespect!! 63 isn't that old anymore and just by nature people wonder why a person passed away at a younger age, could have been a heart attach, stoke, car accident among many other things.

my mom died at 63 from breast cancer. I have wished she had lived a lot longer for my kids to know her better. Not trying to be insensitive, but Alzheimer's may have been easier on all of us instead of that absolute torture for her. Very painful and progressively degenerating and heart-rendering.
RIP Mr. Gordon

It doesn't matter how expected it is. It's still tough. His dad's illness may explain his tough year this past season. Had to be a tough year for him.

I worked with Mike about 15 years ago or so. Great person. I had heard that he wasn't doing very good. It's quite the bummer. Prayers to the family.
It was very sad news last week. Mike was a friend, we had sons that went to school together, we played adult baseball together. He was quiet and certainly stayed out of the limelight. He has been showing signs of the illness for 2-3 years now. A horrible disease to take a man so young.

I don't think any of us enjoy losing a loved one. Weather it's parents, grandparents brother, sister or I think the worst is parents burying a child. We have no idea what a persons mind does when there going through Alzheimer's it very possibly be very frustrating and frightening. And yes cancer is a ugly disease, I'm sorry to hear your mother passed away from breast cancer
