Passing Mich in transition year is amazing. Next year recruiting class I will say easy top 15 maybe top 10 if we see the results on field, not just w's but improvement. Then the party gets rolling

I'm not sure. This is probably the most hype HCSF is going to get short of some kind of miracle season. Undefeated season, BIG bowl win, COY sweep. I think the polish wears off a bit now, but having more time to focus on relationship building should even things out.

I agree with this somewhat. A lot of hype for Frost this year. And rightly so. But what if we go 4-8 again this year with some ugly losses? Unlike some on here I think it is important for us to have a solid season this year. I think Frost thinks so too... hence all the Jucos he brought in. Nobody thinks he will go 10-2 or 11-1, but another losing season would hurt the Frost hype. We have the tiger by the tail right now. I hope we can keep that going. What would be great is if this season we beat everyone on our schedule who has lesser talent, but also knock off one of the big boys in an upset (Like Michigan).

I wonder where our "natural" recruiting ranking is going to be long-term? Outside of a really good class here and there, is the high teens, low 20s where we will normally be? My guess is yes because for us to move up to the top 10 or top 15, 5+ of these schools have to move below us?

Georgia, tOSU, Texas, USC, PSU, Clemson, Alabama, Miami, OU, ND, FSU, Auburn, Washington, Florida, LSU, Oregon, A&M, UCLA, SC, TN, Michigan?

I think we will find with this coaching staff leading the way, Riley's recruits will produce much more now! If we can get line play (BIG IF) this 2018 team will be successful. With new SC training and better coaching the talent should come forward. It exists. We have seen glimpses! Add in this class and the other small changes being made and turn around very well may be quick and painless!

The biggest challenge will be keeping the staff together when we start winning. Lets say we go 10-3, 12-2, all of sudden our coaches are going to get promotions...chinader will get offered a head coach job...a few offensive guys may want OC at some poor power 5 school. All of sudden frost has to rebuild...if he can keep his staff together for 10 years I think we win a NC and have top 10 classes...if not...then we will be up and down.

Would be a great problem to have a staff that other teams actually want.

Can't think of a whole lot of assistants that have been poached by other programs the last 10-15 years.

I'm absolutely shocked that Michigan had such a poor year recruiting. I think Harbaugh's luster has definitely worn off a bit, the hype for Frost will last at least a couple years and much longer if he's winning.

Great Question
Depending a bit on how they do W/L wise the next few years I think NU could pass the following teams:
Oregon
South Carolina
TN
Michigan

Then:
LSU
Washington
UCLA
Notre Dame
Auburn

Teams NU wont be able to pass unless coaching change:
Bama
OSU
Clemson
PSU
USC
Miami
OU
Texas
FSU
Florida

Why would you want other programs to poach our best assistants? I believe LSU poached one of our assistants under Pelini but I don't think it was a big loss.

I think we'll go 10-2. We have a lot of talent on this team that hasn't been used to its potential. There's no way we go 4-8. Riley's not coaching here any longer..Winking

He took 2 huge classes his first 2 full years, like 29 and 30 recruits, that is nearly 60 recruits. That’s a lot of kids to run off

9 wins.

We return 7 starters on offense and 8 on defense. Mix 8n with JUCO talent and coaching.

9 wins. OSU, PSU and Michigan are our losses.

We don’t play Penn State next year we play Michigan St at home.

I think we have a better chance of beating Michigan than Wisconsin.

Well then I definitely think we can get 9.

I think we have a good chance of beating both. Michigan struggled a lot on offense this year and Wisconsin had their struggles too. As long as Wisconsin has Hornibrook starting, I like our chances against them.

Wisconsin is the toughest place to win in the B1G with the exception of Bucknuts and Hornibrook can be hot and cold granted he makes his mistakes but also comes through with big plays plus he has 2 years of experience...

Beating Wisconsin would be a huge boost to the staff and program no doubt but it is also our 2nd toughest game on the schedule.

Wow, lose to PSU in Big Ten title game?

Or were you thinking you play PSU, rather than MSU in inter-division play?

Many of you are not inclined to visit another teams home board, but if you’re not convinced about the high percentage of message board Iowa fans that are scum bags take 5 minutes and visit that board. Scum of the earth. Nothing on this board or any other board comes close.

If you are managing employees, do you want a group that nobody else wants, or a group that your peers would love to have?
