I went to O'ahu for my honeymoon about 11 years ago.

We stayed with a cousin of my wife's whose husband taught for BYU - Hawaii and we loved it. Her cousin didn't like the fact that they didn't have air conditioners in most houses, especially the one they lived in.

If I won the lottery, maybe I could afford to live there in retrement!

Banker was considered for the Hawaii head coaching job when it was open in 2011. He always seemed like a good dude... talked freely during his press conferences and always seemed read to explain the nitty gritty details to reporters. I bet Riley regretted firing him for Diaco as soon as the first game was over.

I fell in love with the Big Island on my honeymoon (many more than 11 years ago). I looked for jobs there and had an offer, but the pay was ridiculously low so I didn't take it. Since then both my wife and I have spent weeks at a time there for work many times over and I got real happy I never moved there. After a month, being on an island made me claustrophobic. Also, Honolulu is one of the dirtiest cities in America two blocks back from the beach. Lots of homeless and meth. Of course, if you won the lottery you could get a place there and come and go as you pleased.

It is always interesting to see the true market value of former NU coaches - which you get after they get fired from Nebraska. A handful have moved on to comparable positions over the years, but most go backward. Evidence of NU's hiring decisions being more than a little suspect the past 20 years.

Sorry to stereotype and apologize if I offended. My wife's company put her in an extended stay place about five blocks back from the beach somewhere off Kapiolani over by the WalMart. She was working over by the Aloha Tower (Aloha Air or Hawaiian Air, I forget). She had to get in early each day and was somewhat paranoid about driving over because of the street people wanting to wash her windshield and stuff. My time has been spent mostly over by Pearl and Poipu on Kauai. There are some creepy areas around Pearl City and on Kauai. Of course, there are some pretty creepy areas everywhere you go. It just seems the nice weather attracts a lot of homeless and the high price of everything makes life tough for a lot of people. Can we agree that on occasion people visit there, fall in love, move there, and then regret it?
