Any remaining doubts about Frost?

For several weeks many posters were pining for Frost. Many of the early responses to these early pro-Frost posts were basically telling us jto shut up, some defended the then existing coaching staff, while others called Frost a young, inexperienced coach and hinted we would make a big mistake firing coaches so quickly. By now it should be clear that we landed one of best, who, very likely will lead us back. Complements again to Moos and the others that pulled this one off.

I was happy with the Frost hire whether UCF won or lost today, and I doubt too many here feel otherwise. A few, perhaps, but they're mostly people just trying to start an argument or trying to find a tortured explanation for why they are right and everyone else is wrong.

I am fully on-board, more so than even with Bo. This is the most excited I've been about the Husker program since before the Colorado game in 2001.

I am also stupidly excited about the offensive and defensive line coaches. Those units controlled the game all day long against significantly higher rated players/recruits. I am stoked.

Chin’s stock went up big time today
Yep. I am very surprised, especially since Auburn plays up tempo, too. I wouldn't be shocked if we had some 50-45 games but today was very encouraging -- though I still hate prevent defenses and three-man rushes. But they finally pressured the qb on the last play and we see how that worked out.

I am pleasantly surprised by the UCF team. I was looking at the teams they played earlier during the year, and I had not seen any wins that lead me to believe they had "it". I will gladly eat the crow on this one.

I am not getting my hopes up until Frost wins some games of substance at NU. Call me gun shy.

I didn't read a lot of fans against Frost...There were some super dorks that loved Riley so much that they didn't totally **** for Frost but for the most part they were still on the train.

That was a well prepared and well coached team today that beat another well coached team that had previously beat 2 #1 teams this year...this was not a fluke by UCF or the coaches...really was a fun game to watch

This stood out to me as well. It was weird to see that from a college team playing, who I wanted to win.

I recall very few, like less than 3 or 4 if even that, posters against the Frost hire. Feel free to bump the posts/threads, they're now archived.

I'll patiently wait.[/QUOTE

Here’s one example that got over 30 likes in response to my post, back in the early fall. There are many others, but I don’t feel it’s worth my time sending them to you, since you’ve made up your mind that nearly everyone ALWAYS wanted Frost. They do now that it’s obvious. Thanks for your patience

“If we fire MR we will be in big trouble. Everyone always says it's so hard to recruit to Nebraska and we finally have a coach that can get top notch recruits to come here and people want him fired. People forget how much of a sh*t show our roster was when MR got here, we had 2 scholly LB on our roster. We are finally getting depth on our OL. Give it a rest, MR should be given atleast 2-3 more years to use the players he is bringing in.”

Maybe just let it go and be happy with our new staff.

Hang on, I gotta go to a USC board and remind some a them a-holes that they didn't want Pete Carroll when he was hired.

Here’s another, go back on your own in my archived posts, and you’ll find many more.

“I like your enthusiasm and positive outlook. So your saying including this year that a Mike Riley led Nebraska program would win two of the next four Big Ten championships. That is extremely strong beliefs. I think that is close to impossible. One championship would be a strong goal. What are you spiking the red Koolaid with? Scott Frost if he progresses as a head coach could be a head coach at Nebraska. My hope is this doesn’t happen for at least three years and the reason for change is voluntary retirement. If SF wants to be the head coach at Nebraska I think the opportunity will provide itself sometime in the future.”

I wish you were in my living room so I could high five you. I mean, everyone loves "I told you so" guy, amiright?

Seriously, what is the point of this topic? Dredging up posts from 2 months ago... awesome.

We should do a poll.
% of fans happy with the hiring of...
Solich
Bo
Riley
Frost

Here is my guess...

Solich: 50%
Bo: 60%
Riley: 10% (then later bumped up with dorks that talked themselves into him being good)
Frost: 99%

I can’t recall anyone on the board against it. Search function? There were loads of posts digging out his assistants though, especially the DC.

Your recollection is spot on. People are gonna try real hard to recreate history. Their problem is, Rivals has an archive system.

There were plenty against the hire before the fact. After he was hired, there's still been a lot of doubts that he could turn us around.
Most who were against the hire were against it a couple of months before it happened. There's a huge difference between somebody who expressed doubts about him in September and October and somebody who did in December. There were a lot more of the former than there were of the latter.

And there were some who didn't have any doubts about him back in September.

I would mostly agree with this, but I think you are a bit high on Solich's level of "happy." Most people were polite about the Solich hire, but not necessarily happy.

I am trying to think back to when it happened, I am pretty young (and handsome) so I don't totally remember it but I think that since there really wasn't "the internet" at the time that it seemed like most people were okay with it, if that makes sense.

I think most fans would have preferred that a program atop the college football world would look beyond South Stadium for T.O.'s replacement. But not many were going to voice their displeasure when the guy who hand-picked Solich had just gone 59-3 over the previous five years.

Frost, his coaching staff, and the UCF players deserve big time props, that team could play with any other top 5 team and win or take it right to the wire. Well done.

I'm still surprised by today's outcome. Auburn was a helluva football team. UCF made an argument today that they should have been in the four team playoff. That's huge for a mid-major. Doubly impressive is the fact that the coaching staff wasn't even working full-time for the program during this prep time.

As others have said, I have not been this excited about Husker football in a very, very long time.

Yes, I'm sure you knew he was going to go 13-0 too. The excitement people had for him a few months ago was based mostly on the fact he was a former Nebraska player-not for anything he had really accomplished yet. Most of the people who were excited for him back then would have been just as excited about him if he had gone 6-7 again.
