Are you saying they tripled the recruiting budget and Reilly still did worse? It is crazy. As dumb as claiming a conference move, or tripling the football recruiting budget was somehow "not supporting" poor bobo the clown.
Nope. That was Blo. Riley was the wrong hire. Blo was the wrong hire, and a piece of trash. Even Osborne says as much. You people that have zero respect for Osborne are bad fans. Are you saying they tripled the recruiting budget and Reilly still did worse?
Nah, Riley sucked on his own merits. And so did SE. The only good thing he did was cut Bo’s bag.Once the Pelini excuse ran out of gas, then it became the Eichorst excuse. Classic!
Only an HC that fails as miserably as Riley would need so many “reasons” for not getting RESULTS.

As soon as Eichorst was in charge. And yes, Osborne (in Osborne-speak) said Pelini could not function like a normal human enough to save his job, and that his hiring was a mistake. So keep pining for blo (like you always have), even though pope Tom even sees blo for what he isOsborne called Pelini trash? Or is that your word? Just trying to figure out who is using TO for their own purpose.
When was the recruiting budget tripled? I don't follow that stuff that closely.
So, you made up the word trash. Thanks for answering one of the questions I asked while ignoring the other one.As soon as Eichorst was in charge. He was encouraged not to by S.E. That’s pretty much a known fact. That’s still on Riley for not fighting it. Riley has always recruited JUCOs before and is now again. It’s also probably part of what Frost said on his hiring day here about quote “unnecessary roadblocks” put up by the prior administration.
Got tons of respect for TO. Don't respect people who make up lies about what TO has said.Nope. That was Blo. Riley was the wrong hire. Blo was the wrong hire, and a piece of trash. Even Osborne says as much. You people that have zero respect for Osborne are bad fans.
It's the narrative the Nebraska media is using now. It was all Eichorst's fault. They are covering up for the fact that they were too stupid to realize Mike Riley is a bad coach. So, after three years of being completely wrong, they have to do something other than admit they were very wrong.I still laugh when people refer to Riley's not recruiting JUCO's as a SE issue. Especially when they say its pretty much a known fact. No its not a known fact. It has been an excuse that people have run with so many times they are now representing it as a fact. To blame anyone but Mike Riley for who he choose to recruit is an excuse. I don't care where he got his advice.
I see you are confused. Sad when someone is too slow to understand. Even Osborne thinks Blo was the wrong man for the job. You keep holding out hope for blo, makes you look real cool. You really should respect Osborne, he has gave so much to the program. You are a bad fan if you dont.Got tons of respect for TO. Don't respect people who make up lies about what TO has said.
Actually, I have seen the Nebraska media folks say some very negative things about Riley over the past season. You are just empirically wrong in your assertion that the Nebraska media were pro Riley and anti-Eichorst. Now, you are correct I think that they were slow in seeing that Riley was a mistake. Many of us were, mainly out of a desire to see Riley succeed simply because he was our coach. Our bad. But just like with me, they started to see more clearly the true depths to which we had sunk under Riley very early in the season. It's the narrative the Nebraska media is using now. Perhaps. But my point is, it didn't take much to know he would fail. Yet, the media was not critical of Riley, actually fawned all over him in many cases until the end. And much of what I have seen has been blaming Eichorst, which in my opinion is an excuse for Riley. I have mentioned on here multiple times Riley had lost 12 of his last 15 PAC 12 games. Yet, nobody seemed to mention that in the media while he was losing inexplicable games his first year. That would have added some meaningful context. The football program became basically a PR machine for three years and everybody seemed happy, nobody more than the media.Actually, I have seen the Nebraska media folks say some very negative things about Riley over the past season. Yep. Most of the anti SE stuff started after he was fired. And for two years the media turned a blind eye to what a ****** hire Riley was. No argument from me with 90% of what you posted. I just disagree that the media were pro Riley through most of the season. I think they turned on both SE and Riley after the NIU game and then building to a crescendo after the Ohio State debacle.Perhaps. But my point is, it didn't take much to know he would fail. I think the media became anti_SE after he was canned, that was easy. Aside from Lee, I didn't see many people pointing out how inept the AD was until after the fact. But, admittedly I didn't read everything, so perhaps you are correct. But, I think it is wise to be weary of anybody that didn't see this train wreck coming.
There was nothing wrong about being hopeful re Riley this year. I was and will be for the Frost staff next year. I see that as being a good fan. But the harbinger of 17 was how the team produced sans TA at the end of last season. When the D decided to mail it in this year, the game was up.Actually, I have seen the Nebraska media folks say some very negative things about Riley over the past season. Bingo. This is spot-on. Even Osborne knows as much.No matter how bad Riley was, it doesn't make the decision to fire Pelini the wrong one. Just the wrong hire to replace him. If anything, the Riley hire and tenure just goes to show how dysfunctional this staff and athletic department was. Now they are gone and there seems to be a united front from top to bottom for the first time in many, many years.
