Which opponent was it that talked so much smack before a bowl game during the Solich era? Maybe Northwestern. I just remember Solich running it up on them like it was personal.

It was Northwestern. Talked a lot of smack, a lot of talk going into that game that it could be closer than everyone thought, etc... We destroyed them 66-17, that was a fun game to watch, because you could tell the players were having fun.

What I remember is the Huskers running a trick play when they were already up by like 30. If I remember right it involved Bobby Newcombe throwing for a TD. And whoever the announcer was complaining it wasn’t very good sportsmanship..... Ahhhh, good times.

i watched this game today. mike golic was a little butthurt. we threw a lateral to bobby and he hit davison for a 50 or 60 yd TD to put us up 59 to 17. it was still the 3rd qtr.

I loved that game!!! I discovered one of my former students who had gone to Northwestern and rekindled a friendship... and it was an awesome game!!!
