I got to say after the emotional roller coaster I watched last night how impressed I am with Coach Cook and his entire team. I was screaming, my wife was like "calm down!". After they lost the 3 set, I thought they would just fold. It was hard to lose sets 2 and 3 so closely. Then they go down like 6-1 or something in set 4. I'm like "that's it, stick a fork in 'em, they are done". Then they go to set 5 and neither my wife or I realized it only goes to 15? We were saying "what does 4 match points mean?" in between "why does that one girl have on a different color top?".

Think I might go to a few games next year. Not sure I can handle this kind of game though. Very emotionally intense :p
I had to quit watching for a while after set 3. Was getting too stressed. I figured they would either be back in it or have lost by the time I got out of the shower. Turned it back on just as they were down I think 25-24 in the 4th.

I can do without this kind of stress. Great job ladies! I hardly ever watch VB, but is it just me or is that PSU coach a real dick?

It's not just you. He's a fat *** tool. He and Cook DO NOT like each other. Some would also say that Cook is not the most pleasant either.

I don't really understand volleyball rules, but after watching Florida, how many men are allowed per team?
The girl from Canada looks like she might have a little more testosterone floating around than the average female. Kind of like the Bittany Greiner from Baylor basketball. Greiner is 7' and and has an Adam's apple bigger than Bill Walton's......Does the NCAA do any testing like international women's sport does?

I watched every point last night. After set 3 when we were down 2-1 I was thinking, " Hay a few point's and we're back in this". BOOM. Set 4 was awesome. When PSt blew match point. I thought. This is ours. I had almost quit biting my fingernails, which I have done for 50+ years. Well guess what. I have about 6 nails that don't look good today(remember, I lost 1 finger last year).
Gongrats to the lady HUSKERS. Bring it Saturday night.

You have 9 good fingers and at least 3 good nails, without personal annihilation, and are 50+ years old. Things sound pretty good. Winking

Kelly Hunter showed why she is an all-american! She was able to set some poorly passed balls very well and her getting the final point, flat out, freaking awesome! Now, go win one more.

Hunter was great as always last night. The one that stuck out for me was the froshy in Jazz. She really stepped it up last night and came up really big in crucial moments.

Our stars shined, and it was fantastic to watch. Such a great team to watch as they have so much want to.

I have a friend who is a college volleyball coach and knows Cook from tournaments....He says Cook is a not a good a guy and that's cleaning it up for the kiddies. People hate winners I guess but I don't think Cook is beloved in coaching circles.

Yeah, I've heard the same about Cook. Have heard from people involved with volleyball that he's not so pleasant. Oh well, he wins a S-Load, so I won't crucify him.

Shocked at the comments about Cook. Have any of you met him? Heard him speak, etc.? Heard what the players said about him? I have had the chance to due to some volleyball functions to meet him, listen to him, talk to him briefly, etc. He is nothing but very pleasant. Other coaches probably don't like him since he continually kicks their butts on the court. Players have nothing but great things to say about them. I'm sure you could find some players who sat the bench that didn't like him, but I like him. Then again, you hear terrible stories about Bob Gibson. Yet I've met him three times just by bumping into him in St. Louis, airports, etc. and he was also pleasant in every occasion. So take that for what its worth.

Bo Pelini would have been beloved here too if he had as many championships as John Cook has. Fans love their team's winners, even if they're pricks. Rival coaches and fans usually don't so much.

We took Florida to 5 sets on their home court when Kelly Hunter was out with an injury. Plus, we pretty much have a home-court advantage in KC. I like our chances.

While we have improved, you have to figure so have they.

To beat Penn State is really a strong performance. I'd like to see Penn State and Florida play.

I thought Florida played really well and Stanford played like crap.

Sweet has been solid, and crucial to the team all year. While not putting up great numbers, she allows the other hitters in her rotation to get more 1 on 1s by drawing the occasional double, because teams know she hits for a high percentage.

We didn't have our All-American setter, though, and still took them to 5 sets at Florida. That's like not having your All-American starting QB.

Different nights, different teams but Penn St did beat Stanford twice this year.

I’m cautiously optimistic about Saturday but we still have to come out and play.

All my dealings with cook were fine. Wouldnt say he is the friendliest guy ever, but not a jerk.

I met Coach Cook at famous Dave's one night. He was waiting for atake out order. Didn't know if I should approach him or not because it kinda seemed like he was trying to keep a low profile sticking to the corner as to not draw a lot of attention. We were waiting to be seated. We were about 5 feet from each other and I just said hey, nice season. He smiled, said thank you and seemed very genuine and approachable. Chit chatted while we waited. Not much of a story but I left with a positive impression.

Cook is mellowing with age. Just a thought but betting that if you talk to former players from yesteryear and today you will not hear the same stories at all. Same if you are/were a reporter or even one of his assistants.

Just watched the Penn State postgame presser. Their coach sure isn't afraid to criticize individual players.

Kind of depressing to see a thread celebrating the women's big win over #1 to get into the final devolve into a thread about how coach Cook isn't a nice enough guy. Maybe we can get Riley to come back.
