Thanks for making my point - Tanner Lee weighs 220. Also, it is important to point out that Lee is definitely not a running QB, crossed the LOS only if he was chased, and never took on B10 LBs and Safeties downfield.

Exactly my point. We just had a 6'4" 220 lb QB get blown up every game by blitzing linebackers and rush ends due to a **** o-line -- and managed to finish the season -- yet 6'3" Gebbia needs to be at 225 in order to take on a safety?

Tanner Lee didnt carry the ball 8 times a game and didnt get smacked around on fake runs or option pitches- which any QB would in this offense.

There is a REASON you dont see Gebbia in short sleeves- even when it's hot. He is a twig, Ive seen him. I dont care what the program says I think hes a buck 75. There are some kids, no matter how much you feed them and how much they lift- they cant put on weight. My guess is- he is one of those kids.

175 and 5'11 is much different that 175 and 6'3

Great arm, he can scramble some, OK feet. Designed runner, faker AND getting beat up on passing plays due to an improving but still pedestrian line play- that may be a tough one.

Im hoping he can do it, Im doubtful though. There was a reason Gebbias dad was lobbying for Riley to stay.

He has to take on more than Safetys:
On zone read plays- he's going to be tackled by DEs
On other run plays he's going to be tackled by BIG 10 LBs and DBs
On some of those inverted Zone read plays CFU runs- he may even be tackled by Dlinemen

OK man this is going nowhere. Like I said, hopefully he will learn to slide because a 6ft3 195lb QB is shark meat running beyond the LOS.

That is why I like Gebbia chances, he has proven to be a accurate passer which is needed first in this type offense.

He hasn't proven anything at this level yet. Pretty easy to be an accurate passer in high school when you have a 6 major D-I WR recruits running wide open all game. Keyshawn Jr was the 5th best receiver on that team.

FWIW, O'Brien was an even more accurate passer in high school (74%) without any D-I caliber WRs to throw to. I wouldn't count him out.

Looks like someone may have been working out a little.

175, huh? Care to make a friendly wager?

Im expecting-
Lee leaves as Senior Transfer before Spring. Best of luck to him
After Spring either POB or Gebbia leaves, Whoever stays is the starter
Martinez signs, plays sparingly in first 6 games- After game 6 against Wisconsin- he starts against Northwestern on 10/13 The next week is Minny
Bunch stays as an able emergency backup
Another QB is taken- Vedral, Burrow. maybe an in-state walk on
Need at least 4-5 QBs for this offense. Vedral sits for a year, Burrow can play immediately. For those saying Stick from NDSU will senior transfer- NO
I dont think we get Dugan next year
Martinez will be the guy and scares others off after seeing his potential in the second half of the season- The deal is- can he stay healthy? or will it be the Martinez curse #2?

What the hell is the "Martinez curse"?

Looks like you and I are the most vocal supporters in the POB camp. I bet you like Mary Ann better than Ginger too.

I disagree. Gebbia is more mobile than POB and while he's not a body builder, he could handle the 7 carries a game SF offense requires. Probably no less of a pounding than standing in the pocket behind a line like we've had. A while back, I put together a list of very successful duel threat QB's with similar height and weight to Gebbia; Teddy Bridgewater, etc. If I have time I'll try to dig it up.

Gebbia = Fran Tarkenton. A real bodybuilder. Lol

How come no one has mentioned Zack Darlington? He was originally recruited as a dual threat QB. I think the kid is a gamer. A good fit (I think) for Frost's offense. We'll see what happens but Darlington might just emerge as a player competing for the starting QB job.

I see Tanner Lee Transferring for his Senior year...

The rest will be in contention in the Spring and let it play out from there the way it should be.

Tanner Lee transferred from Tulane when a new coach game in who wanted a dual-threat QB. It wouldn't shock me if he transferred again.

He doesn't need to be 225 to run this offense. Plays designed for the QB to run complement SF's offense. They are not the focal point.
UCF's Milton is 185 lbs according to their player listings. Not saying who is starting just stating a fact.

Zac is a great kid
However he had 2 concussions his senior year of HS
He wore the green jersey for his Freshman year
He moved to the slot receiver spot and never played
Was moved back to QB as an emergency QB
Now he is a holder
Leader- hard working kid-- he is absolutely ripped now
He's probably 6' and 200 now- he can definitely run- His HS ran NUs Pelini offense- zone read, sweep read, power read. Very Athletic build- was a Single Wing running back his Soph year. LOTS of designed runs in 8A Florida- States Largest Class- real big boy football
Coaches kid- VERY smart
Not sure they feel good about making him an every down QB though

His scholarship was honored even though pretty much everyone else backed off of him after the concussions

Milton is listed at 5’11” and 177 and he has been durable in the offense, so let’s not be assuming anything about Gebbia being too slight of build.
In case you haven't heard this is a message board where "speculation AND guessing" happens here.

I think the reality is no one knows for certain what they have. Lots of speculation about TG and POB and how they will fit. Fact is not one of us knows for certain. Tanner would seem like the least likely to stick with his skill set so we will see on that. Feel sorry for he kid, came to Nebraska with high hopes, sat out, learned all he could and represented the U well. It will be an interesting spring for sure. I am not concerned about any of it.

I'm not sure I would agree that he represented us well. Seemed like a good kid and all, but this season was one of the worst years a QB has ever had at NU.
