I can understand Frost bringing in coaches he is comfortable with. However I'm a bit surprised the entire coaching staff from UCF is coming. Even Devaney kept two assistants from the Jennings regime on staff. I guess we will know in a few years how this all works out.
Not being mean I just don't think there's much anyone from the old staff could add.I can understand Frost bringing in coaches he is comfortable with. I am glad that the players are not going to be able to run to an assistant from a previous staff if things aren’t going the way they want it to.
Important for the staff to be unified as they establish the new culture. I think it's a good things there aren't any holdovers.
I am glad that the players are not going to be able to run to an assistant from a previous staff if things aren’t going the way they want it to. It is time for the football program to get a cleanse and it is time for the players in the locker room to buy in or move on.
he's the coach. He calls the shots. It's his program. The entire house needed to go. 4-8.I can understand Frost bringing in coaches he is comfortable with. Well, if I was the new staff, my response would be "4-8".
Two UCF coaches currently at Nebraska were part of the 0-12 season at UCF so it may be wise to hold off on the 4-8 responses. I'm surprised Scott didn't interview any of the previous NU coaches, especially after what he said when he took over the UCF position.
Click the YouTube link below and fast forward to the 18:41 mark. Pay close attention to coach Frost's response to the question. I am a little concerned how he had this mentality 2 years ago, but not now....
I fully understand trust and continuity as I preach that in my job/career however, it is mind boggling how the resources are available and there wasn't one staff member replaced. I find it extremely hard to believe he has the perfect staff 1-10 otherwise we would've had competition...
Curious on other thoughts?!?
And I am sure the old staff would say "4-8, how in the hell did we ever win 4."Well, if I was the new staff, my response would be "4-8".
Every situation is different. Maybe he feels the climate in the Nebraska football program is too toxic to take a chance on retaining any assistant coaches from Riley’s staff. It sounds like he wants to start fresh and his way to start the process within the locker room is to clean house so there isn’t anyone tied to Riley to derail the changes he wants to make/implement.
That Veronica Vaughn is one fine piece of ace.Any thoughts on Vaughn, McShane and the rest of the recruiting staff sticking around?
Let the man do his job. He took over UCF without ever having his own staff. He has worked with all of them now for 2 yrs, if he wasn't confident in them he wouldn't have brought them. What we will see is he will adapt his staff if he doesn't feel some are pulling their weight. The previous Riley staff, perhaps he heard plenty from others about there lack of... I have confidence that this staff believes in Scott's focus and sure the two from previous staff Scott kept are big time Plugged in to Florida High Schools..
Let me ask these would you want Beckton recruiting Fl or Parella, etc.
I had thought of that, but can't buy it. Scott made the decision to bring his entire staff before stepping foot in Lincoln, or meeting the players. Moos' assessment wasn't a toxic one so I remain looking for some different answers as to why...
Well said, plus he may have a little more insight into the Nebraska situation he's inheriting vs. UCF. Frost is a fierce competitor who has a vested interest in making Nebraska win again. He wouldn't put together a staff that he didn't think would give him the best chance to win. Wish we could focus on the fact we just hired national coach of year.Let the man do his job. I was thinking of a toxic culture that hindered success on the field. Many have said that the coaching staff did not develop the physical/mental toughness needed by the players to be ultimately successful on the field. Whether it was not conducting practices that promoted toughness, players having the opportunity to “earn” their playing time, not sitting players that were underperforming, not putting in the effort in the weight room to improve physical strength...the list could go on and on. Maybe he wants to flush all of that out of the program and the best way to do it in his own mind is to start fresh with new assistants so that they can indoctrinate the players with their philosophy.
They don't coach the same positions, so if we're talking strictly recruiting, I'd take Keith Williams in a heartbeat.
I am just tired of all the 2nd guessing and questioning, let it rest for the holidays folks. Perhaps Frost didn't like KW's character. I know different positions, but you rather have KW over Walters? I never ? My wife smarter than that haha. We have a leader let him lead
Like I said, Moos' assessment didn't include toxic or any form similar to so it's one I thought of but don't believe in.
What you say, and I agree with to an extent, all comes from the head coach. That person is gone, assistants aren't responsible for it as they don't have a choice.
I had thought of that, but can't buy it. Scott made the decision to bring his entire staff before stepping foot in Lincoln, or meeting the players. Moos' assessment wasn't a toxic one so I remain looking for some different answers as to why...
Yes. Riley is so toxic to keep anyone aroundEvery situation is different. Get rid of them. They have 4-8 stench on them. Fire everybody. Deep 6 this needless "recruiting staff" nonsense. That's not how Nebraska works.Any thoughts on Vaughn, McShane and the rest of the recruiting staff sticking around?

That would be good, will let you know!! Sure you getting ready for the boys Sr year. Pretty exciting.Where's that happening because I don't see it on here? I'd much rather have Williams than Walters, from a pure recruiting and coaching standpoint but I fully understand why Frost wants Walters - simple fact of implementing his system and Walters has 2 years of experience with it while Williams doesn't.
I hear ya, hit me up next time you're in town, we need to have some drinks!
You asked for our thoughts and I shared mine. Regardless of who is deemed right in the end...I am hoping the Huskers turn it around and make it a highlight of my week to watch football games again. Winking
My only thought might be that Frost's close friends/mentors at Nebraska, that possibly know the previous staff in some way, might have informed him that it would be best to start over. (TO, Davison)
Could Davison possibly tell him where the issues on the team lie? There weren't too many issues with KW, but since Troy Walters coached the same position as KW, but was also the OC, and you can only have 10 assistants, maybe there was really no other way to go about it when filling each position (He would have had to choose one of the other assistants to take over the OC position if Walters said no and he put KW in as WR coach.).
But for him to make the comment in his press conference on Sunday that he hoped most or all of his UCF staff would join him, that tells me that he basically had his mind made up of who he wanted. Maybe he planned to only look at other possible canidates if some of his previous staff turned him down.
Earlier in the season, there was news about Frost wanting to make sure his assistants were paid well. Maybe in his two years with them, he grew close and when it came down to leaving, he didn't have the heart to leave one or two behind...
They were a great coaching team this year, so why break it up? Don't try to fix what ain't broke?
Who knows... not me!
