That's a tough one. I WOULD NOT want Bo back under any circumstances. I would rather have Papuchis or Banker than Bo. Callahan HC with his entire offensive staff. Maybe DL instead of Watson and Beck instead of Jordan at RB with Callahan. Defense is tougher. No Pelinis. No way. Crappy recruiters. Crappy people. Sanders was probably the best defensive coach we had but his legal issues are terrible (DC). He had been a DC elsewhere. Bohl coached under Tom or I would say him for DC. Did Sanders ever coach for Tom? Parella DL, Bill Busch Safeties. Warren CBs. Bray linebackers. Man we've haven't had great defensive coaches for a long time. Was that the point of your thread?

For pure coaching ability, Marvin Sanders was hands down the best assistant imo. Bo was also a solid DC the first time around (under Solich) when he was hungry and eager to prove himself.

Don’t laugh. Carl was pretty damn good at coaching. Look at the improvement SUH made. Too bad he had baggage.

You’d have to put KW up there. He was important enough to survive a serious DUI charge, and some still want him to stay.

I almost mentioned Carl with a similar disclaimer. The extracurriculars really did that staff in.

And I would agree on KW. Probably the best recruiter/coach combo.

Yep, just look at how far Pelini's defense fell when Marvin Sanders left. The thing I loved about Sanders is he could get his guys to turn and look for the ball while still maintaining excellent position on the receiver. Our DB's since then just stare at the receiver, have their backs turned around and have no idea where the ball is.
